Introduction
This article basically talks about the system of leadership. System of leadership incorporates leader’s attributes and mannerism, behavior and approach and characteristics of group members. There are two sorts of leader characteristics:
- General personal traits: Traits related to organization is known as general personal traits.
- Task personality traits: Traits related to job related knowledge is known as Task personality traits.
Ethical Leadership
Ethical leadership is a frame of administration in which individuals illustrate conduct for the benefits of all that is satisfactory and relevant in each proportion of their life.
It is composed of three major components which are be the sample, winning the significance of morals and converse. Ethical leadership creates an environment for where purpose and molarities of individuals hired in an organization facilitate to its objectives. Some of the few ways leaders improve ethical leadership are attribute and practices of leader, fortifying moral work, developing an ethical corporation, creating a center, examining ethical exercises.
Features of Ethical Leadership
- Give priority on teambuilding: Every ethical leader should focus on teambuilding and promote team spirit within the organization to achieve the objectives of the organization.
A good ethical leader will always strive to achieve organizational goals rather than personal goals.
- Leadership by illustrating: Ethical leaders must be an example for the employees.
- Respect others: One of the important characteristics of a leader is to respect other. They have to respect the team member, consider their views, opinions, suggestions and also a team leader must treat every team members equally
- Promotes initiative: A good leader should always encourage team members to take initiative, share ideas and must reward them for their efforts.
- Assess awareness: A good ethical leader must frequently examine the high values and desires they put on themselves, other representatives , and the organization.
- Equity: A good ethical leader must always treat every team members equally and must reward them fairly. He/she must not be biased on the basis of nationality, gender etc.
- Integrity: One of the important feature of a good ethical leader is integrity or honesty. Individuals follows a trustworthy, honest and reliable leader.
- No liberality for ethical infractions: A good ethical leader will not tolerate any kind of violation of ethics. He/she always expects team members to follow the rules and ethics.
- Good nature: It is a very essential characteristic of a good ethical leader. He/she must be kind-hearted, humane and act in a manner which will be beneficial to other members in the team.
- Value driven decision making: A good ethical leader takes decisions according to the organizational values.
Ethical problems in an organization:
- Prejudicial treatment and harassment: In an organization, all the employees must be treated equally and on the basis of race, gender and ethnicity, non one should be discriminated. Every team members should be given equal opportunities and reward them for their achievements.
- Employee theft: Stealing of employer’s property or cash from the organization is known as employee theft.
- Infraction of organization’s rules and regulations:
One of the main ethical problems in an organization is violation of organization’s rules and regulations. - Untruthful to employees: In an organization, employees will support employer only if he/she is truthful to them.
- Unpleasant association with colleagues: Bad relationships with colleagues also creates problems in the organization and affects the environment of the organization.
- Inhumane behavior: Inhumane or abusive behavior of managers or leaders creates issues in an organization. Misuse of authority powers creates problems among leader and team members.
- Partiality: Sometimes leaders have special liking or prefer someone, he/she should not be partial and treat unequally. This creates a problem in the organization.
- Exploiting organization’s belongings:
Some of the individuals working in the organization misuse the property or the belongings of the organization, this creates ethical issues in an organization. - Violating organization’s internet guidelines:
Sometimes individuals working in the organization use websites that has nothing to do with the organization.
Opinion
In my opinion there’s no perfect enterprise that encompasses a leader with all the features, traits and values.. Each leader might lack in any one of the values or characteristics. There are number of organization which we consider to be morally precise, but tragically are working beneath an untrustworthy authority (such organizations are private to open relations so they cannot be specified here).
Conclusion
To exercise viability of leadership, an individual ought to be mindful of the results and consequences about to which he is making choices. As a result of great practices he or she can ace these aptitudes to form a successful culture of an organization.
