It is the staple of first impressions. Therefore, a neat and well-groomed appearance by all ADF personal is fundamental to the ADF and contributes to an effective military force. A vital ingredient of the ADF’s strength and military effectiveness is the pride and self-discipline that serving Australian personal bring to their service through a conservative military image.
Being well-groomed and wearing your uniform and or civilian dress with pride is all part of maintaining the longstanding traditions of the ADF. It also promotes an important sense of trust and confidence amongst the ADF and the Australian community.
ADF dress and grooming regulations reflect, in a general manner, current professional standards. Upholding a professional image of ADF, where ADF personal routinely interacts on a daily basis with, other ADF personal, business partners, civilians, and other forces.
Every major organization, this dress standard presents a visual image and sends a message that the employees are professional.
Another reason why dressing in proper attire is important in the wider community both at home and overseas is because you never know when you will be required to meet with someone from outside. This image of an appropriate dress will give an outsider an image to remember the ADF.
Conflicts arise when ADF personal prefer to dress comfortably or in the most recent styles rather than standards for uniform and or civilian dress.
AFD personal wearing their uniform or civilian dress in a manner with goes against the ADM or any other dress code, is not clean and neat in appearance or does not match what is stated in the ADM or in orders of dress. This image portrays the ADF member poorly, this member of the ADF is viewed in a poor, undisciplined and not obeying the ADM or dress standards by the ADF, this Brings down the ADF, as well as his peers, those in the CoC and that member.
To realize the importance for them to present themselves in a more professional or conservative that does not bring shame to the ADF, the army dress manual, and others around
