As part of my Master’s degree in Digital Marketing, I had to choose between two optional courses that were offered to me. My choice finally turned to the course. We are now at the end of the course and I spent some time reflecting on my experience semester. From this entrepreneurship course, I keep good and bad memories. I acquired throughout this semester a wide range of knowledge and skills but at the same time, I experienced quite disappointing experiences.
Indeed, during the course, I had the chance to improve my general knowledge related to entrepreneurship, to meet new people (the other students of the course), to have an open mind, to improve myself as a person and as a member of a group, create a with other students from diverse backgrounds.
Throughout this reflection, I will present and discuss in chronological order all that I learned and experienced during the module. Then, finally, I will explain my personal feeling related to the module and I will conclude and present my future expectations after my Master degree.
During the entrepreneurship course, we mainly learned to set up a business plan, but on top of that, the course covered many different other topics such as entrepreneurship and innovation entrepreneurship and sources of , how to do a good Pricing and we have also studied many cases of successful entrepreneurs.
‘Becoming a successful entrepreneur means much more than starting new businesses every other day. Rather, it means having the right attitude by managing a business and the and courage to succeed’ (Anon, 2019).
In addition, during this course, I had the opportunity to work with several international students, some of whom were part-time students. Working in the same group with international students can be a great advantage because it opens the mind to different points of view and ways of working and seeing things in a company. But, at the same time, there are many problems that arise, for example, the language barrier, the difference in the style of communication and differences of opinion. If a group of students from different backgrounds is not well managed, this will lead to conflict.
Also, I made the choice to be in a group of people with whom I already had points in common. Unfortunately, creativity and cohesion are two elements that this group lacked. I had some regrets about this choice, but after a lot of thought, I finally realized that it was something that had helped me in many ways. Like what, we learn from our mistakes (Fern, 2019). Creativity is an important asset in business. Businessmen perceive creativity as an expense rather than an income. In other words, creativity is innovation. No creativity means that there is no innovation, no innovation leading to what is called stagnation ( Today, 2019). In fact, creativity allows companies to develop a competitive advantage by developing new solutions for their customers. Creativity, therefore, helps the company gain more market share and also earn a lot more money. To conclude, creativity is an investment and not an unnecessary expense.
In conclusion, this experience was satisfactory for me because I acquired new knowledge that will be very useful for me in the future. However, I consider that the work done with my group was a failure because our business plan did not have the expected success.
Finally, I will talk about my plans for the future. This module certainly allowed me to have a better vision of what I will do after my master’s degree. I plan to launch my own digital marketing agency in the future. What I need is time, money and experience. To launch, maintain and develop a business, certain qualities must be taken into account. Mindfulness, altruism, and compassion are the essential qualities to be a successful leader (Mindful, 2019). From my experience during this course, I will be very careful in the future in choosing my partners. In summary, I understood from this module that entrepreneurship consists of, with limited financial resources, to provide solutions to the needs of customers, creatively and innovatively in order to always make a difference in the market.
