In the book , appearances are not always what they seem. Do you remember how Paul looked like a nerdy kid on the soccer field and ended up being a star player? Do you remember how Erik acted nice and sweet to adults that were friends of his parents but was a jerk to Paul? Well, those are examples of appearances that aren’t always what they seem to be. There are many examples of these appearances in the book Tangerine. As an example to help me explain that appearances are not always what they seem this one has come to my mind.
When Paul’s school, Lake Windsor Downs had a terrifying sinkhole emerge from beneath it, Mrs.
Fisher wanted no part of the school any longer. As a result from this event, Paul transferred to Tangerine Middle School where he has learned to be tough skinned. Before Paul transferred to Tangerine, His mother took a tour of the school to see what it would be like for Paul to go there.
She wasn’t very impressed by it but the roughness of the school taught Paul to be less afraid of his demonic brother, Erik and be more confident in what he says him. I hope that example helped explain to you that appearances are not always what they seem.

When he finally broke down, he decided to confess the truth to everyone. Since everyone thought he was happy, they never saw the sick at eart side of him. Which explains why he was an appearance that wasn’t what he seemed to be. Now that I’ve explained appearances that aren’t always what they seem to the best of my ability, I really hope this information in my essay is accurate.
