The ethos, mission, aims and values can be communicated via school prospectus, school handbook, school website and in the school itself. The ethos can be notice when entering the school environment as is part of the daily practice of the staff and pupils who work there. This is set up by school staff, parents, governors and pupils so everyone is aware of the schools values and beliefs and this helps to bring everyone together to help children achieve their full potential.
The mission and aims of the school are set by the head teacher alongside parents and other staff members. The school effectively communicates those via governor’s report and prospectus. Most of the information is also available in their website. You can find information not just about their mission aims or values but also about the staff, curriculum or the approach they use. As a school specialised in SEMH needs they share specific and clear information about mental health and how they operate this in the school.
Parents and students can access all the necessary information reading the school handbook or browsing the school’s website. The Head Teacher has always an initial discussion with parents about the education and support that the school can offer to their child. When necessary the parents would meet the Head Teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to discuss what type of support is available and to discuss a pupil’s individual education plan.
