Her father who was a convicted child molester committed suicide In prison, and her mother abandoned little Aileen as an Infant. Aileen was referred as to a nervous Child, It was said by preVIous residents that had lived near Aileen and her grandparents, that she was mistreated. Aileen’s grandparents were very private and discrete people. It had caused Aileen to assomate With the invisible. At 14 years old Aileen was raped and became pregnant.
At no other choice, Aileen was forced to give up her baby. Aileen dropped out of Troy High in the 91h grade and became a prostitute. At the age of 15 she started abusing drugs and alcohol. Between December 1989 and September 1990, the bodies of several men were lound murdered along the highways of northern and central Florida including Richard Mallory, Dick Humphreys, Troy Burress. David Spears, Walter Gino Antonio, Peter Siems and Charles Carskaddon.
Some items belonging to Mallory and Antonio were pawned near Daytona Beach and the alias names used were traced to Aileen Wuornos through thumbprints leit on the pawn shop cards.
Aileen confessed to the murder of all six men. She claimed that she was picked up by the men when she was working as a highway prostitute, and shot them in self-defense atter they attempted to sexually assault her. Aileen Wuornos was convicted of the murder of Richard Mallory after trial in Volusia County and was sentenced to death.
While on death row, it was distinguished that Richard Mallory had previously served time lor Attempted Rape. Aileen Wuornos pleaded no contest to the murders ol the other 5 men and was sentenced to death in each case. Within two weeks ol her arrest, Aileen Wuornos and her attorney sold movies right to her story. Investigators in her case did likewise.
