A CV shows skills, capabilities, accomplishments, Education, values and personal interests. It also acts as a marketing tool for the person looking for the job.
The draft CV was submitted on uni-learn. The feedback was to narrow it down to two pages as it was too long. The main points highlighted from the feedback were to make the headings stand out, incorporate key skills and competencies. Precision of dates were also amended. Illustration of hobbies were also amended. As the final CV will show it illustrates the Education and Qualifications heading, Employment history and key Attributes. This was summarized in two pages which is short and precise.
Employment History
To summarize the feedback was to make the CV stand out and make it two pages. This has the potential in attracting potential employers in my chosen field of work with reference to my qualifications to be attained.
On my final CV, the amendments were made and everything was incorporated together and it looked more professional than before. Some improvements can still be made on hobbies and interests to make it more eye catching and appealing.
Bernard De Block
Johnson & Johnson
Rue du Luxembourg
56180 Courcelles, Belgium
I’m a second-year student at Huddersfield university studying BSU Supply Chain Management, I am applying for a job as a supply chain assistant within your company as advertised by the university. My degree is a challenging business focused course that covers modules related to supply chain planning and develops skills such as problem solving, team work, critical thinking and data analysis.
During my time in the British army I was employed in the Royal Logistic corps in the catering division, I was employed in a position usually filled by a more senior person, providing catering support within a budget to a customer base more than 200 people ranging from privates to senior Officers, I produced menu’s, procured rations and provided direction and guidance to junior chefs insuring all deadlines are met. I have also worked in different locations including overseas in Germany.
I was immediately drawn to this vacancy with Johnson &Johnson as you are one of the best in the field by embracing innovation, product and services that help in the health and wellbeing of people around the world and by giving back to charity. I would like to assist in the supply chain and procurement division by injecting fresh ideas and up to date professional skills learned from the university and grow with the company.
Whatever your decision, please accept my sincere thanks for your time and consideration of my request.
A cover letter is used to impress or generate interest of the employer in interviewing the applicant of a job role; it also demonstrates how an applicant is suitable for the job applied. As you can see I have gained vital skills from working in the British Army and most are transferable skills which can applied to several job roles. At present alongside the degree been undertaking the skills been gained will be a testimony to the qualifications achieved contrary to the cover letter addressing as I and I am won’t be used in future as it is unprofessional. The cover letter needs amendments which will be addressed in the future, a signature also need to be included.
To sum up a cover letter should sum up what the employee can bring to the company. A snap shot of the curriculum vitae incorporating the key skills and competencies. Summarizing the benefits to the potential employer.

Those requiring initiative, creativity or giving intellectual development are also of interest. 2016-2017 working as part of a team at university on a Tendering project and we managed to pass |
The following questions are designed to encourage you to provide evidence of specific abilities. Your examples can be taken from your education, work experience, placement or spare-time or other voluntary activities but do not write solely about course-work.
Planning, implementation and achieving results: Describe a challenging project, activity or event, which you have planned and taken through to a conclusion. Include your objective, what you did, any changes you made to your plan and state how you measured your success. In the British Army we had a Combat Chef catering competitions with different army regiments in Germany and I was a senior soldier who was meant to lead a team of three,we had to build a field catering kitchen and produce a full course meal, I divided the task into 3 We all did our field kitchen together and 1 person did Appetisers , I and one more person did main course and the last person did desserts. Whoever finished what they were doing gave others a hand and we managed to get position 3 out of 10 teams. |
Influencing, communication and teamwork: Describe how you have achieved a goal through influencing the actions or opinions of others (perhaps in a team context). What were the circumstances? What did you do to make a difference? How did you know the result was satisfactory? In the Army catering chef competition I had to have good communication and leadership skills and I did this by explaining the task clearly ,dividing the task and helping everyone in my group , there were situations where things were not going according to plan for example a chef on desserts burned his apple pie and I helped him do an apple crumble as we didn’t have enough time, but we manage to serve our food in time and got praised for it. |
Analysis, problem solving and creative thinking: Describe a difficult problem that you have solved. State how you decided which were the critical issues. Say what you did and what your solution was. What other approaches could you have taken? In the university we had a group project that wasn’t going well as we were new and didn’t know each other, also coming from different backgrounds. We couldn’t agree on anything , meetings were missed and people were not doing their part, I had to think outside the box , I asked everyone which is the best time and we all agreed on one , then we started meeting, I then asked everyone what they were comfortable doing and everyone choose a part to work on .We then finally put our group project together and managed to submit in time. The other approach I could have taken was to report the matter to the lecturer or looked for a different group to work with. |
Please write here any additional information, not covered elsewhere, which will strengthen your application. I am very good at time keeping and meeting deadlines Where did you hear or us or see an advertisement? On internet |

A competency application form was submitted on unilearn and it wasn’t easy filling as it is long and it needs a lot of information on past experiences. A lot could be improved on giving clear examples and the application form should be signed at the bottom, which will be addressed in future,
The competency-based application form requires applicants to provide evidence, which means examples from their experience, that they will be able to demonstrate the competency when required (Wood and Payne, 2000)
First a mock interview or practice was carried out and we managed to correct where we were weak and when the final interview process was done we performed with confidence and feedback was given reflecting on our work .we did very well on our interview and both proud to have put a lot of effort on practising and communicating together to make sure all goes well.
Face to face interviews are generally brief in duration (typically lasting about 30 minutes).during that time, recruiters attempt to acquire information information about the applicant and also to provide information about the organidation (Barber, 1998)
