Discussion
The paper reflects on the continuous improvement plan for the project “Construction of Quota Park Pathway”. The project faces number of challenges due to improper management and therefore an improvement plan is needed that not only focuses on the construction but also helps in monitoring water quality, air quality, erosion, sedimentation as well as cultural heritage. The project must also focus on management that is required for the contaminated sites.
The assignment mainly focuses on improvement plan in order to construct Quota Park Pathway properly by mitigating the various challenges that are associated with it. The improvement plan mainly includes steps that are helpful in analyzing various processes in order to identify different activities that are helpful in enhancing the value of the procedure.
The challenges that are faced by the project can be resolved appropriately with the help of project improvement plan. According to Davis (2015), project improvement plan is one of the subsidiaries of the project management plan that generally involves number of steps that are helpful in analyzing different types of procedures for identifying the activities that are necessary for enhancing the value of the procedure. There are number of areas, which must be considered while preparing the particular improvement plan. The steps or areas that must be included in the project improvement plan include process boundaries, process configuration, process metrics as well as target on improved performance. On the other hand, it is argued by Eadie, et al. (2013) that project improvement plan is generally utilized for developing the performance quality Assurance in order to ensure that the quality standards are helpful in improving the various procedures of the quality processes.
It is stated by that for facilitating effective changes within the improvement plan, it is quite important to understand the current procedure, to known the techniques that are helpful in improving it, proper as well as effective planning for appropriate changes and measuring appropriate success of change. On the other hand, it is argued by Turner (2016) that for making appropriate changes and for making proper improvement within the project it is very much necessary to describe the improvement procedure, offering proper flowchart of the process, appropriate tools, techniques, tools, procedures as well as processes that are useful for implementing the plan (Heldman 2015). The information that is provided by the project managers must be utilized appropriately for achieving appropriate results. Proper information for each of the improvement that is needed in the Quota par pathway construction should be considered in order to mitigate the challenges that are mainly associated with the park.
According to Zeng, Tam and Tam (2015), procedure improvement plan is mainly utilized for identifying, analyzing as well as improving various types of existing procedures within an organization for meeting various objectives as well as goals. The tool and techniques that are generally utilized for improving the plan include DRIVE, process mapping, DMAIC, statistical process control as well as simulation. On the other hand, it is opined by Aziz and Hafez (2013) that there are number of improvement methodologies that are generally utilized for improving the procedure. It is identified that the numbers of improvement methodologies that are mainly used for improving plans include Business procedure redesign, deeming cycle, six sigma, project management and Penn State Improve.
Process Boundaries and Configuration
The main purpose of the improvement plan of Quota Park is to elaborate the procedures that are helpful for improving the project appropriately. Mackay Regional council generally engages in constructing a shared footpath in Quota Park. There are number of challenges that are analyzed. In order to mitigate the challenges it is very much important to focuses on project management plan (Kerzner 2013). The project improvement plan mainly includes proper description of the process boundaries, procedure configuration, and procedure metrics as well targets on improved performance.
A pathway was constructed around the Quota Park in order to provide to provide appropriate pathway facility. The construction of the pathway faces challenges and for resolving those challenges proper improvement plan is needed. The main aim is to construct the pathway by considering various improvement standards (Muhammed et al. 217). Appropriate improvement plan is needed that not only focuses on the construction but also helps in monitoring water quality, air quality, erosion, sedimentation as well as cultural heritage. The project must also focus on management that is required for the contaminated sites. As the part of proper as well as appropriate improvement plans the procedure, boundaries that are established include start, completion, input, output, data required as well as process owner (Schwalbe 2015). The improved pathway must be constructed after immediately an order is placed by the project manager. The project must be completed within the estimated budget as well as time by utilizing the resources appropriately. It is identified that various inputs of the project include materials, budget, proper documentation and more. On the other hand, the outputs of the project include proper work authorization as well as standards. The data that are needed for constructing the pathway include cement bricks, sand and more.
Proper procedure configuration is illustrated in a graphical manner for discussing the procedure of the project. The project team has proper ability to visualize the procedure, which are quite helpful in facilitating proper analysis as well as identification in order to analyze different procedures, which are weak. It is quite significant to note that like appropriate project documentation, changes are required to be done which are updated in the configurations. The Quota Park must construct the pathway by mitigating various challenges that the park faces (Leach 2014). The improvement plan not only resolves the challenges but it also focuses on water quality as well as air quality by reflecting on various monitoring requirements. It is analyzed that the problem of erosion as well as sedimentation must also be maintained appropriately. The pathway is constructed in such a way that proper cultural management is also needed for monitoring the construction appropriately (Burton, Brundrett and Jones 2014). The contaminated sites must be managed properly so that the project does not face any problem related to this.
It is stated by that procedure metrics plays significant role in both process improvements as well as in the quality of the project. A metric is defined as a measure in the project that helps in assessing various types of performance parameters of the given procedure. This measure helps in allowing the team to monitor, track, and measure various performances in order to analyze both the efficiency as well as effectiveness of a process (Weerasinghe et al. 2014). The project team must ensure that the metrics are generally dependent on the requirements of the customers for ensuring the quality of the project. The metrics are generally dependent on various acceptable measurement as well as control limits within which various acceptable measurements are needed.
Monitoring Requirements
The procedures as well as metrics are generally used in order to improve the construction of pathway in Quota Park. It is quite important for the project managers to analyze various process improvement configurations, metrics as well as improved value in order to implement the cycle of the continuous improvement plan appropriately. The existing metrics, controls as well as values are generally dependent on the requirements on the customers in context to cost as well as performance.
For improving the project if the Quota park, the project team have to understand the project activities appropriately. While various procedures fall within the acceptable control limits, it is very much necessary to build proper quality management into the project plan that generally requires appropriate improvement in the duration of the project (ALMohiz et al. 2016). In order to drive the entire cycle of continuous improvement, it is the responsibility of the project team to establish targets, which generally helps in meeting proper as well as specific metric. The targets must be specific, achievable as well as measurable.
The quality of water must be improved by monitoring the quality of water appropriately. It is quite important to analyze that no water contamination should be present in water. Storm water drainage, roadside gutter or other place that are contaminated must washed properly or they must be moved into waters (Cserhati and Szabo 2014). Due to the chances of this type of contamination, it is very much important for the construction contractor to undertake the quality of water appropriately. Proper monitoring is required until the quality of water reflects or indicates that the contaminants that are present in the water are removed successfully from the water.
In order to improve both erosion as well as sedimentation it is quite important to place proper the sedimentation as well as control devices properly before commencing different types of clearing as well as grubbing operations. The contracts who analyze the challenges must undertake appropriate soil conservation measures (Zhang, Zuo and Zillante 2013). It is the task of the contractor to forecasts the sites properly and undertakes appropriate actions that are dependent on appropriate forecasting. Immediate as well as effective action must be taken by the contracts to reduce both erosion as well as sedimentation.
Proper noise monitoring requirements are needed as a valid noise complaint is done to the contractor. In order to resolve the problem, the contractor must investigate the cause as well as reasons behind the complaint and after proper reviewing and therefore they take, effective actions to control it (Haz?r 2015).The construction noise must be kept under proper limit for minimizing the complaints against noise. It is also very much important to analyze the results of noise monitoring appropriately. Proper work procedures must be implemented for minimizing the noise impacts properly.
It is the responsibility of the contractor to monitor proper vibration if any challenges associated with it are faced. The complainants must be analyzed properly and after appropriate reviewing, the results must be analyzed and then proper methods must be implemented for mitigating the issues (Guo et al. 2014). It is quite important to avoid such equipments during construction that creates high level of noise during the construction of the pathway in the Quota Park.
Cultural Management
It is also important to manage the various activities of the project properly so that the entire project must e completed within the entire budget as well as time. The resources of the project must be allocated appropriately, so that the stakeholders of the project must utilize the resources properly (Kim and Choi 2013). This helps in minimizing various project related problems and further helps in improving the project properly. If various risks that are associated with the project is minimized then the entire plan of the project will be successful.
It is analyzed that the improvement plan that is undertaken not only helps in resolving the challenges that the project of Quota park faces but it also helps in improving the plan by focusing on various standards of air quality, water quality, management of erosion as well as sedimentation (Zhang et al. 2015). All the procedures that are conducted are very much helpful in analyzing in improving the project plan of the Quota Park.
Conclusion
It can be concluded from the entire assignment that the improvement plan that is undertake is very much advantageous for the Quota park as it helps in resolving the various types of challenges that are mainly faced by the park. Proper steps or areas are used for project improvement plan that include process boundaries, process configuration, process metrics as well as target on improved performance. It is identified that the project uses appropriate tools, techniques, procedures, policies as well as standards in order to conduct the entire improvement plan of the project properly. Proper improvement plan is undertaken that not only focuses on the construction but also helps in monitoring water quality, air quality, erosion, sedimentation as well as cultural heritage. The project also reflects on management that is needed in order to resolve the issues that may occur due to the contamination of the sites.
