The purpose of this assignment is for you to develop your career planning and management skills and knowledge. You will:
- think about your career ambitions
- reflect on what brought you to this point
- define your skills, abilities and preferences, and how these align with occupational requirements
- identify opportunities during your studies that will enhance your employability and self-knowledge
- find and interpret reliable labour market information to further inform your career thinking.
You must:
- use the Report template, found in the Report tab of the course page, to record and submit your answers
- include results from defined self-assessment tasks (specified in Question 2 a) in the Appendix of the Report template.
When answering all questions, reflect upon self-knowledge you have clarified, and career development, planning and management information acquired during this course so far.

By completing this question, you will learn more about yourself (self-knowledge) and the requirements of your chosen occupation. You will use critical thinking skills to compare your self-knowledge with the occupational requirements to assess your alignment with that occupation. This assessment will highlight gaps so you can know what competencies you need to gain or enhance to improve alignment with the occupation.
Question 2 has four parts, and will take some time to complete. Some of the tasks will be completed within class time, and others in your own study time.

Use Job Outlook to research and report on the characteristics listed in Table 2, Column A for your chosen occupation.
- c)Compare: In Table 2, Column B assess, using critical thinking skills and your understanding of the Dunning-Kruger effect, your alignment with each characteristic of your chosen occupation.
Draw upon both your existing self-knowledge and your new self-knowledge from the results of the seven self-assessment activities in Report Question 2a.

The purpose of this question is for you to identify ways of enhancing your employability during your studies by participating in strategically aligned extra-curricular activities.
Identify 2 extra-curricular opportunities that can build your employability in line with your career ambitions. One opportunity needs to be paid employment (a job). Discuss the employability benefits of each opportunity, create a plan to pursue the opportunities (you do not have to actually pursue the opportunities, but you need to create the plan as if you were going to pursue the opportunities), and discuss why these particular opportunities demonstrate strategic career planning for you.
Use Table 3 to record all answers for your chosen job opportunity, and Table 4 to record all answers for your chosen specific extra-curricular activity.
- a) Identify a job opportunity and one other specific extra-curricular opportunity you could participate in during your studies that would enhance your employability.
- b) Research, and report on, the employability benefits you could gain from involvement in each opportunity. Use Job Outlook and other sources (e.g. existing knowledge, knowledge gained from someone involved in this type of activity, information from job advertisements etc.).

– recognise the value of labour market information (LMI) for career planning and management,
– learn about, and determine reliability of, different sources of LMI,
– research reliable sources to find relevant LMI, and
– interpret and utilise LMI for career planning and management purposes.
