Current role and responsibilities

Self-analysis is one of the most important methods of finding the good and the bad aspects that are present within the individuals. I always try to conduct the self-analytic tests so that I get to see the qualities and the errors that are present in my persona (Wosket, 2016). I think that this is highly beneficial for me as it helps me in making a comparative analysis of my strengths with that of my partners. This helps me in taking the further steps that will help me in strengthening my position for all the future endeavors. I have undertaken many of the test results and have also recorded the marks and the outputs that define my persona. I have also taken the initiative of analyzing it properly and then comparing it with one of my friend’s personality test reports. I will be trying to use the test results and the outputs that I have got here in order to analyze the problems and the current situations that are existing within my current organization. I will be using the results that I got previously to make sure that I use them for getting the solutions to the problems existing in my organization (Burns & Danyluk, 2017). I will also try to overcome my weaknesses and then try to use some of the good qualities that are present in the personality test result of my friend (Chang, 2016).
Currently, I am working as a manager at one of the multinational companies. I am thus working as the in charge of many of the employees who are working under me. I have been considering leadership as one of the major traits of every organization. I feel that this is kind of a backbone for the proper running of any organization. The one important strength is that I would like to talk about right, in the beginning, is that I am an executioner. I other words I can very easily understand the issues and the problems that are present in the organization and I can find out the necessary solutions. I am also very restorative in nature and I consider this as one of my most important strength. This is one of the key principles that a manager has to inculcate within him or herself. There are often much harshness and many losses that the company has to suffer through. Being a manager I have to have this restorative quality that will help me to provide moral support to all my followers so that they can restore back their normalcy. I feel that the next best strength is my communication skill.
Key aspects of your leadership journey
This is very important as per my job role as well. I have the responsibility of leading so many people and also undertake many important business decisions. I need to communicate these decisions to all the subordinates. It is for this reason that I also try to upgrade my communication skills on a day to day basis.
The other important strength that I have is the ability of strategic thinking. I make sure that I am getting the honest confessions and the feedbacks from all my followers or my co-workers so that I can upgrade myself and become a very ideal leader. The most important trait that I have is the sense of responsibility (Travers, Morisano & Locke, 2015). This is very helpful for me in the day to day aspects of my professional life. Being a manager I have to take many important decisions and have to make sure that I am taking the decision that is for the overall good of the company. I always maintain my responsibility and do my job in the best and the perfect way. I try my level best to keep a regular follow up of the work on a day to day basis (Beech, McGill & Brockbank, 2017).
I have been highly influenced by my father. I have been looking up to him right from the childhood phase. I have been very fond of him as he was a doctor and him as a very good leader. He was very much respected by all his co-workers. This is because he was a very good communicator and above all, he was very strategic in all his actions. He was a very good thinker and he knew how to take all his decisions in a strategic manner. He used to keep himself calm in all the tough situations and he knew that anger will never help him in any way. So, I have tried my level best to look up to him (Beech, McGill & Brockbank, 2017).
I have seen that he has been very strategic in all his actions. He knew that the medical system in the rural areas was very underdeveloped. He wanted to bring some changes in it. He thought on this matter strategically and contacted all his colleagues. He wanted to tell them the opinion of his entire medical board before taking any decision. So I came to learn from this that communication is one of the most important aspects. I started learning the value and the art of communication from my father. He took the opinion of all his co-workers and then took the decision that they will be contacting the NGOs and will be raising funds for opening a medical store at the local rural village.
The summary results of the Gallup Strengths Finder
So, I learned from this that taking the opinion of the co-workers is of utmost importance in each and every aspect. It was also during this event that I saw the importance of keeping the cool. It was a very important decision to make and it was also very long and a very time-consuming process (Miller, 2015). I had one of the very bad habits of not speaking to anyone. I was of a very introvert nature. I did not really like the idea of speaking with anyone much. I thought that people might make fun of me if I fumble while speaking as I had a little bit of a stuttering problem. I thought that public speaking is one of the most fearful things. However, I looked upon my father whenever he spoke for such a large number of audiences in any of his hospital meetings or any of his conferences. I used to accompany him and I saw them speak courageously. He was my greatest inspiration. He knew that setting up a hospital in a rural village would be a very new and a difficult task. Getting the formalities done, getting the permission from the local governments and dealing with the villagers would really be a very tough job (Ajayi, 2016).
I have been trying to follow all these traits of my father and inculcate the same within myself. I have started to break my shell and interact with many people. I started practicing the communication skills by communicating with my friends at school and the locality. I also stood in front of the mirror and spoke on any random topics. This helped me a lot to overcome the fear that I had of speaking. I also took part in many of the social works and the NGOs which helped me to gain more knowledge and skills on how I can be more responsible about my work (Koopman & Hakemulder, 2015).
The Gallup Strengths Finder that I conducted gave me many outcomes and I kind of agree on all of them (Kim et al., 2018). I got the results saying that I am very positive and very optimistic. I feel that this is true as I always try to keep a very positive approach no matter whatever the problem is. I am also very restorative; I try to make sure that even if there are any failure I am being able to gain back the self-confidence and the moral strength that I had earlier (DeCoux, 2016).
A summary of feedback on your current leadership style
I am also very responsible as per the test. I feel that is true because I work very hard and I try to make every possible effort to do a work in the best possible way. I am very optimistic in all my approaches. This indeed is very important in each and every aspect of life. Be the personal or the professional aspects, being positive are one of the most important aspects. However, I believe that I am still a learner and I will have to continue learning throughout the entire phase of my life.
I think that I am doing well as a leader as I always try to support all my subordinates in all the possible ways. I make sure that I am being fully responsible for each and every work that I undertake. I am also of a strategic mindset. It is for this reason that I always plan things strategically. However, I have to inculcate in myself some skills that are present in my partner. I feel that one such skill is significance (Dimaggio & Lysaker, 2018). I feel that being a manager I have to present myself in front of many people. It is for this reason that I need to make myself appear as others want to see me. This will help in to create a good impression of me among my superiors and my co-workers as well (Wosket, 2016). This will help me to develop a good presentation of my own self. Ideation is the other important trait that I want to inculcate within myself (Burns & Danyluk, 2017). This will help me in getting involved in many important conversations that have good facts, data, and ideas.
Earlier In the thought that inspiring people is a very tough job. Tougher is to help people mold their thought and accept something new (Ji & Tan, 2018). However, now I feel that. The talent of ideation will help me in making people accept that what is new and innovative. This will be very beneficial for my future job life as I will be able to find out and consider ideas that are new and dynamic. I will be able to think outside of the box and will not back step in undertaking something for the first time (Dimaggio & Lysaker, 2018).
I can narrate this through a model that is the Kolb’s reflective model
- I saw an old woman sitting in a hospital with a bleeding wound. I was there along with my father. I saw that a nurse came to take care of her wound. She was previously seeing another patient. She did not wash her hands and dressed the wounds of this old lady (DeCoux, 2016).
- I thought that this is a very bad situation and this needs to be stopped. I was in confusion about what needs to be done
- I felt that if this is not checked then this will continue and in the long run can harm the health of the patients. I told this to my father who was a Doctor in that hospital. He immediately spoke to that nurse and asked her to not repeat this ever again(Marsick & Watkins, 2015).
- I concluded that speaking out us always one of the most helpful tools that I must use in case of any troublesome situation. So, I made up my mind that I will always communicate about anything issues that I face in my personal and my professional life. No actions will be taken if I stay quiet (Koopman & Hakemulder, 2015).
My partner was of the opinion that I am a very responsible person and this is one of the most important leadership traits. I always perform my tasks with the utmost perfection and I do not step back in putting in my full effort. I also got a positive feedback about my strategic nature. My partner was of the opinion that this is one of the most essential traits that I have to work in a leadership position. I was given this feedback that I have the ability to take very good business decisions instantly and in a strategic manner. This indeed is the very essential trait. I can channelize the decisions properly and make sure that no harm is being caused to the business.
The feedback from m my partner was that I am good at my current leadership position but I n need to still inculcate some or the other values within myself. The first thing that I need to inculcate within myself is significance. In other words, I need to be more open to people and must give them entrance within my life so that I can get good knowledge and innovative ideas from them. This will be helpful for me in my future leadership positions as well. This can happen that those people will encourage me to work even harder (Chang, 2016). The second feedback was that I need to have the attitude of ideation. In other words, I must try to accept ideas that have not been used by others previously (Harms, 2017). This will also help me to enhance my leadership in the future.
Conclusion
So, it can be concluded that self-reflection is one of the most important tools that help individuals in finding out about their positive and negative aspects. I feel that the results of the Gallup Strengths Finder have helped me a great deal as it has helped me to understand myself better. I came to know about the negativities and the positivity of my personality and will be taking the necessary steps to overcome the drawbacks.
