Introduction to Cloud Computing
Discuss about the Cloud Incident Handling and Forensic System.
The concept of cloud computing can be referred to as a service which is subscription based where the user can obtain computer resources and storage device which is networked. One of the best example in this context is the email concept. The clients of the email such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail take direct care of the concept of housing of the all the software and hardware to support the email of the user. The only requirement is the internet connection of the user in order to access the features. The personal mail of the user is not housed in house but are located at a specific location which is technically known as the cloud concept and the technology relating to it is known as the cloud computing.
The application and the information, which are hosted in the concept of the cloud, are very much evenly distributed across the different servers, which work as a one server. Therefore, if one of the loud eventually breaks no data would be lost and the concept of the downtime would be avoided.
Traditional IT systems are not so much resilient and cannot guarantee the concept of consistency in the level related to the performance of the servers. The concept has less capacity and are very much liable to get susceptible to the concept of the downtime.
One of the major difference relating to traditional IT servicing and cloud computing would be the way the overall system is managed. The concept of the cloud hosting is well managed by the cloud provider relating to the aspect of providing necessary software’s, hardware and other resources. On the other hand traditional system require administrative support which is high end which can be stated to be very much expensive and time consuming even.
The concept of the cloud computing can be considered to be very much cost effective when comparing it with the traditional system. In traditional system there would be requirement of installing high end software has in order to work. The cloud concept offers all the necessary software and hardware so that requirement of downloading and engaging cost into it would not be required.
Cloud computing can be considered as a data storage concept which is external in the form of software delivery and data storage. This concept can make the concept very much secured when comparing it to the traditional IT services.
The remaining part of the report would be covering the vital aspects which are related to the concept of the cloud. The different services, which are available in the concept of the cloud such as infrastructure as a service, software as a service and platform as a service, are the main point of consideration. The later stage of the report focus on the benefit of the cloud computing and the challenges, which can be faced in the concept of the cloud, computing.
The infrastructure as a Service are made up of automated and highly scalable compute resources. The concept of the IaaS can be stated to be self-service in order to monitor and access things like networking, compute, storage and other types of services. It also allows the business to directly purchase resources directly on demand and as requirement comes instead of the having to the hardware, which involves money investment. IaaS infrastructure mainly delivers infrastructure to the organization, which may include network, servers, storage and operating system through the technology of virtualization. These server of the cloud are provided to the client or the user through an API and the dashboard. The client of the IaaS have the total control over the entire infrastructure (Rittinghouse and Ransome 2016). The IaaS infrastructure provides all the services, which are provided by the traditional system but the main advantage with the IaaS is that updates and management of the data is done by the vendors. Some of the advantage, which can be gained from the implementation of the process, is that the IaaS model is one of the most flexible models, which allows easy automated deployment relating to networking, storage, processor power and servers. The hardware in this context can be purchased directly based on the consumption of the service. The resources can also be accessed and paid according to the requirement of the organization. The main characteristics of the IaaS model are as follows:
- The resources are directly available according to the requirement.
- The cost factor is directly proportional to the usage. More the usage more would be cost applied to the concept.
- The services which are obtained from the concept is very much scalable.
- Taking into consideration any of the organization it would be giving them a basic infrastructure relating to the overall working involved into the concept.
Cloud Computing Model
The cloud platform or the PaaS directly provides cloud components relating to certain software’s used into for a particular application. The model provides an infrastructure for the developers so that they can involve themselves into building and developing application, which is customized. The third party of the enterprise provider can handle all the storage, server and the aspect of networking while the developers can manage the applications. The concept of the platform as a service directly helps the business organizations to create and design applications or software’s with special components, which are inbuilt into the model. The main advantage of the PaaS model is that it is built in the technology of the virtualization, which means that the resources can be managed easily by means of scaling down and up the resources according to the need of the organization. The concept provides a variety of services, which can assist the developers to build, test and implement any type of application. The main point, which can be stated here is that more than one user, can access the same application during the time of the development. The database and the web services are integrated together in the concept. The main characteristics of PaaS are as follows:
- The concept is very much scalable.
- The availability is very much high
- Taking into consideration the developers, the model give them an option of developing customized application without any problem related to the software maintenance.
- The amount of coding is highly reduced.
- The policy of the business are automated.
The concept if the software as a service is also known as service of cloud application. This concept represents the most common means of utilize option for any concept of business in the peripheral of the cloud. SaaS uses the internet to deliver applications to the users, which are directly managed by the third party vendor. Most of the SaaS application run directly by the web browsers, do not require any type of installation, and downloads on the part of the client. The main advantage, which can be achieved from the concept of the cloud, is that it directly reduces the money and the time, which is, spend on task relating to the management, installation and up gradation of the software. This helps the organization to put more focus on the concept of the more important tasks within the working of the organization. Few of the characteristics of the SaaS are stated below:
- It is hosted on a remote server.
- It is managed from a location, which is centralized.
- It is directly accessible over the concept of the internet
- The user is not responsible for the software and hardware updates (Arpaci 2016).
Oracle IaaS can be considered as one of the most comprehensive group of subscription based service of infrastructure that helps any organization to run any workload in the enterprise grade relating to the cloud hosting, managing and support by the end of the oracle. Oracle advanced customer support directly provides the proactive and tailored support design specifically designed for the IaaS customers.
Oracle cloud Platform as a Service helps the IT organization to directly involve in deployment and building of rich applications or extend oracle cloud applications. Oracle advanced customer support offers extensive service to the customers for deploying workload and customer transition very much securely over the concept of the cloud.
The service which can be easily be used for the deployment of Java EE application is the Platform as a service. This is due to the factor that the platform as a service approach can be used for deployment of any application using the concept of the Java EE application.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
The main service, which is provided by the Nectar cloud, is the Infrastructure as a service. This directly gives the provision of deploying a virtual storage and a virtual machine, which can be done on demand through the implementation of an API or a Dashboard. The access to the nectar cloud can be done through the AAF (Australian access federation). This can be done by means of a username as a password. The cloud platform, which is provided by the nectar cloud, consist of 8 nodes and around 32000 processors, which are distributed across various locations. A node can be stated as a data center at a location, which is physical which directly, provides service. It can be stated here that all the nodes are a federate cloud.
Use the service, which can be easily, for the deployment of Java EE application is the Infrastructure as a service. This is due to the factor that the Nectar provides a basic infrastructure where the organization a build up a set up using the concept of the Java EE application (Ab Rahman et al. 2017)
Statement: No, a network requires a server, which can be set up in the concept of the cloud or set up locally. However, the main point here is that the concept of the cloud is a shared and this concept may involve overhead. This may hit the main performance of the cloud and the user does not know when it can start lagging (Sari, A., 2015).
Statement: The cloud concept can easily adjust the amount of work, which is relating to the computing giving a lot of flexibility in the aspect of the budget. Putting the focus only on the concept of cost but sometimes there can be some need of infrastructure, which can be used for the betterment of the service.
Statement: The above fact cannot be true to certain extend due to the factor that there can be different types of attack which can take place and avoiding them can be a task in hand. This is due to the factor that there can be different types of flaws in a network, which can be sometimes be unenviable.
Statement: Virtualization can be considered as a process of taking a task into the concept of the cloud where a physical server would be created. This would be helping you to complete the task quickly. It can be stated here that the concept of virtualized server is not enough to succeed. Virtualization should be combined with other form of technology and implemented within the framework of the cloud in order to benefit from them. Taking into consideration the vital aspects is very much important in order to gain advantage from the concept of the cloud.
Statement: The access speed of the data where it is stored and the location it is being accessed from can be not so fast and reliable. It can be seen that most of the data in this case cannot be accessed in appropriate time framework. Most of the time the server cannot be accessed, which result in not getting the right information at the right, time when it is need. This can sometimes prove very much harmful for the working of the organization.
Conclusion
The main benefit, which can be achieved from the concept of cloud, computing are as follows:
- Fresh Software: With the concept of the SaaS the version that is the latest relating to the application, which are needed for the organization to run properly, are made available to them. The immediate new functionality and features can enhance the overall working of any business sector.
- Do more with less: the organization who would be moving towards the concept of the cloud the size of the data center of the own organization can be reduced highly. This concept can also minimize the data center footprints all together.
- Flexible cost: The cost of the cloud computing can be stated to be very much on the lower end, which would be directly benefiting the overall working of the organization. The organization directly pay for the service that receive and the service they use.
- Availability: Most of the cloud services are very much reliable in their service they give. The connection is always on as long as the internet connection is on.
- Collaboration: The concept of the cloud computing can be beneficial in a way of making different group of people at different location to meet virtually (Rittinghouse, and Ransome 2016).
The main challenge, which is seen in the sector of cloud, computing are as follows:
- Security can be considered one of the important factor in the sector of the data, which is stored in the concept of the cloud. In most of the cases the user does not know exactly where the data is stored and who is able to make access to the data. The organization should have a clear idea on the overall working of the concept of the cloud and the security, which is given by the cloud providers.
- Access to data: Most of the times it is seen that the data, which is stored in the concept of the cloud, is not accessible by the user. This can be due to some server problem, which occur very occasionally. Integration can also be a problem, which can be faced by the user of the cloud.
- Moving towards the cloud: When an organization try to move towards the concept of the cloud, they do not have any sort of idea about the cloud and its overall operation (Hashem et al. 2015).
