Research Background
It is certain that the world environment has been dynamic in nature in terms of business, politics and religion. There is a constant in the approaches of individual leaders for the interest of the nations and the overall process is in the dilemma of leading to both peace and conflict. Thus, it is observed that some nations consider global leadership as the major constraint to constant growth. It is just not about the capability to deal with the complex political issues, but the capability to navigate culture, language and trends to be infused into nation’s leadership. Thus, it is highly necessary to carry out a research to explore more about global leadership and its dynamic nature considering the political grounds.
The major purpose of the research is to investigate the existing practices of global leadership with consideration of politics and ethics in hand. Coomaraswamy (2015) mentioned that political leadership that is necessary to consolidate collective action during periods of transition is less understood. The author of this article has particularly mentioned that in the present days, increasing power competition particularly between United State and China creates and enhances the anxieties that international cooperation could dramatically decrease. Voegtlin, Patzer and Scherer (2012) stated that the dynamic role that are played by the leaders helps in forging different modifications in the different fields. Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning that it is impossible or challenging for any political leader to remain aware of or take the control alone or rule over the myriad events that shape the country both from within and without.
The research aims to investigate global leadership shedding light on political grounds and ethical consideration. Following are the key objectives to meet the stated aim.
- To identify the role of leaders in facilitating change in current business scenario
- To identify the role of leaders in inducing changes in the political scenario
- To identify the role of the leaders in forging modifications in the religions
- To identify suitable recommended actions for enhancing the leadership approach
- What are the current leadership concepts in the business context?
- How does leadership affect the political situations in nations?
- How does leadership influence religion?
- What are the recommended actions that might be undertaken by the leader for enhancing the practices?
Leadership in business
The different developments in the workplace situations are based on the efficacy of the leaders in maintaining empowering the employees. Day et al. (2014) stated that traditional approach of leadership focused on enforcing changes and decisions on the subordinates. However, Voegtlin, Patzer and Scherer (2012) stated that the modernized approach of leadership acts as per the concerns of the employees and thereby brings forth transformation in the working situations to support the sustenance of the enterprise. The key elements of the change that is undertaken by businesses are based on the long term vision of the leader and thereby decision making of the same. Transformative servant leadership approach in the modern days has helped in the development of the organization while considering the different needs of sustenance of businesses in the competitive markets (Voegtlin, Patzer and Scherer 2012). DayandDragoni (2015) stated that the identification of the needs of the stakeholders and thereby undertaking frequent interactions with the same has helped leaders in developing the processes more efficiently. One of the effective leaders in the business context can be cited as that of Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, who brought about relevant changes in the business operations for enhancing the operations and innovation in the line of electronic vehicles. On the other hand, Voegtlin, Patzer and Scherer (2012) stated that the communicability of the leaders assists the same in undertaking different changes through consultation with different stakeholders of the business.
Research Aim
It is widely understood that political leaders matters at the time of crisis, nation’s strategic vulnerability or when global conditions are fluid. However, Coomaraswamy (2015) mentioned that political leadership that is necessary to consolidate collective action during periods of transition is less understood (Corcoran and Wellman 2016). The author of this article has particularly mentioned that in the present days, increasing power competition particularly between United State and China creates and enhances the anxieties that international cooperation could dramatically decrease. Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning that it is impossible or challenging for any political leader to remain aware of or take the control alone or rule over the myriad events that shape the country both from within and without.Mendenhall et al. (2017) mentioned that even the powerful political leader could only have the control through political structure that underpins their own authority. On the other side, Gilpin (2016) mentioned that leaders perform their duties through apparatuses that have their own interest and in the field of unintended consequences. Such leaders are not able to impose their intention on society by force, however, they should create coalition that could help them to rule over the regions. For example, the role that is played by Obama in managing the US governance has helped in improving the economic situation in the nation. When it comes to peace, Johnson (2017) mentioned that giving a full stop to human suffering require political solutions and a strengthened global leadership, which could help to prevent or end the conflicts.
According to Lumby and MacRuairc (2018) it can be argued that there is a correlation between leadership and religion. All the religion across the world require a specific figure with immense leadership quality who is entitled to carry out or preach the religion to the people. From that point of view, leadership plays an important role in dealing with the success and failure of the religion as it does in case of political or organisational paradigm (Moghadam and Haghighatjoo 2016). Henceforth, it can be asserted that the basic purpose of leadership is to deal with the subordinates and followers and influence them as far as it could. In this context, charismatic leadership is intricately associated with the emergence and expansion of religion. As a matter of fact, the charismatic leadership is entitled to influence the people in a robust manner. There are some important characteristic features of the charismatic leadership such as the charm and persuasiveness that are played a significant role to attract people and subordinates. Moreover, it can also be seen that the religious leaders are driven by their convictions and commitment. For an example, the charismatic nature of Jesus Christ was a right instance of the charismatic leadership style.
In this context, it can be argued that it is the responsibility of the leaders to put a great deal of influence among the followers. In this regard, there are certain elements that instigates the followers to get influence. According to Day and Dragoni (2015) it can be advocated that the appearance and the personality of the leader are the most important aspects in this regard. The lenient personality of the leader makes him more acceptable and appreciable to the rests and the personality provides an appropriate image that fosters motivation for the followers so that they can focus on their tasks. In addition to this, the morality of the leaders is also an important aspects to put focus on. Morality brings the right path for the leaders. It helps them to take right decisions and benevolent approaches that enlighten the followers. As per the research conducted by Mendenhallet al. (2017) it can be stated that the moral considerations of the leaders pave the way for the followers or subordinates to understand the purpose and relevance of the task. As a result of that it brings success and achievements in every aspects irrespective of the leadership profile. It means, in case of political, economic or religious aspect the moral or ethical consideration of the leaders brings a positivism inside the nature and characteristics of the subordinates and followers. Based on this understanding, it can be articulated that the role of the leaders are very important for the institutions to decide the future of it. From that point of view, the nature and importance of the leaders are a subject to further research.
