The Role of NGBs
Sports is a career option and hence should be taken seriously just like the white-collar jobs. Therefore, the authorities offer learning services to participants to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for them to succeed in the sporting world. Learning institutions have been developed all over the world to mold and shape the talents of the young players.
It’s usually difficult for elite sportspersons to remain at the top of the game always. Young and vibrant athletes are always coming up every now and then hence outshining the old chaps (Houlihan, 2014). Therefore, the retiring athletes ought to be supported as they transition throughout their career path.
The NGBs are very keen on the views expressed by the players, the coaches, and any other related personnel. This is because they need their opinions when coming up with the critical rules that will affect them directly in their day to day life. Failure to involve these agencies will lead to the collapse of the sports industry since they are the main stakeholders.
It’s the role of NGBs to ensure that there is no discrimination whatsoever in sports regardless of an individual’s race, physical abilities, gender, color or sexuality. All participants are treated equally and accorded the same respect and support from the organization. Safeguarding – ensuring the protection of young people and adults across the sport. Anyone practicing any kind of bias is punishable before the law stipulated by the sport governing organization.
In the course of sports, some players are injured and may suffer from mental illness. The NGBs ensure that those affected are fully supported and treated. They cater for the medical bills and ensure that the sick are given the best services for quick-recovery.
The NGBs put up safety measures to ensure that the athletes are safe. Those who suffer minor or acute injuries are well-taken care off to ensure that they don’t succumb to the injuries. Ambulances and first-aid kits are always at bay to respond to any injury during sports.
Coaching is a people-oriented process and concerns understanding and linking up with players to ensure that they achieve their goals and objectives in sporting (Hums, and Lean 2017, p.210). The following are some of the crucial principles that make up best coaches:
Coaches should work hand in hand with their players to ensure that they hit their jackpot. Involving the team players in their decision making will motivate the players and give them a sense of belonging. As a result, better decisions would be put forward results in the success of the team. Exclusion of some members will lead to conflicts and collapse of the team.
A good coach teaches while the greatest coach inspires. Therefore, coaches are expected to encourage their athletes in order to boost their morale.
Coaches should always be prepared when training athletes. The entire session should be planned early in advance and everything should be put in place. Poor organization is always a clear indication of incompetence and should not be tolerated in any sport.
Provision of Education
Great coaching involves a high level of optimism. Positive coaches spread the spirit of confidence, cheerfulness, and brevity to their athletes. Whenever the players succeed, they should be praised and awarded accordingly to rejuvenate their spirits. In cases of failure, they should be motivated and trained on how to perform better in the second round. Negativity always results to failure and should be shunned by each and every coach desiring the success of his or her players.
Coaches should be the top at their game. They should be professional and offer lessons and skills to their students. Players have room to make mistakes and correct them.
Coaches are required to listen to their players and consider their opinions when training them. No one has a monopoly of knowledge and hence it’s ethical to consider other people’s decisions.
Various scientific materials should be integrated in order for the athletes to perform better. The scientific information that should be considered includes psychology, medicine, biomechanics, nutrition, and psychology. There are also other scientific methods used to gauge and analyze the progress of the player.
This involves advancing of short and long-term schedules to aid the athletes to attain their targets. Coaches should formulate these strategies with the help of the participants and other related personnel. A good plan should be specific, measurable, attainable, reliable and time-bound.
This is the practice of putting the plan into action. The formulated strategies are applied in the field to make sure that they are practical and viable.
The laid down plans should always be altered or squashed if they don’t benefit the players. After all, they will be of no essence if they don’t deliver better results.
Conclusion
Coaches are expected to do their level best to impact the required skills and information to the players. Through the different levels of training coaches, player empowerment and development, sporting objectives and goals are realized. The five levels of coaching course have shaped the sporting field by offering guidelines on the training of coaches and players. From the roles of the various federations, it is clear that the coaching course provided is essential in the development of the coaching career. Advanced technology should also be incorporated in sports to making sporting activities efficient and effective in every manner.
