Contemporary Digital Health Framework in Australia
The digital health is in progress after the sudden outbreak of the Covid-19 around the globe. Allied health professionals are using the digital technology in their day-to-day practices. In the report, the digital health capability of digital framework which is being used in Australia currently has been discussed. The report revolves around the framework Digital Health strategy of Australia, its current role in the development of the healthcare industry has also been discussed. The framework has been explained in the use of the Nursing job and how it can help in improving the performance and capabilities. Assessment of the personal digital health capabilities has been identified as per the need of the nursing professionals. The discussion has been done on the roles and responsibilities of the healthcare manager and how their knowledge can result in a better understanding of digital health has been stated in the context of supporting the staff. The framework discussed in this study is NHS capability framework which is being used widely in Australia.
The Digital Capability Framework (DCF), in the healthcare sectors helps to innovate and orchestrate business transformation digitally. The DCF for allied health professionals aimed to outline the behavior and knowledge that is required to provide effective and safe allied practices of health within the digital health environment context. The DCF can be applied to the to all allied science professionals, and health therapies at all the career levels, from the new graduate to the level of the senior expert or manager. The Australian digital health strategy has been formed as the custodian of the strategy and also for the role which is being evolved by the national and digital healthy capability of the innovations (Schofield et al, 2019), leadership, and also for collaboration
The NHS capability framework works on the principle of self evaluation. In this the nursing official is required to reflect and evaluate their actions and their unintended consequences through digital methods or through the use of various technologies(Brice & Almond, 2020). This framework lays the responsibility of exploration and technical proficiency, skill proficiency on the hands of the professional. This involves continuous self-learning and self-assessment for the nursing professionals. This framework can be used by the organizations in order to evaluate their staff’s proficiency levels and hence would help them in their goal setting. The primary purpose of this framework is to develop the capability in the digital health of the allied health professionals in this health care sector. It can enhance the ability to provide care to the patients who are also responsive to their health status and can work upon the needs and the preferences of the users and their health care (Petersen, 2018).
Digital Health Requirements in the Healthcare Sector
Job Description – As a nurse this framework would require me to perform continuous self-assessment and identify my shortcomings and developmental needs. This would require me to learn new technological advancements and initiatives done in this field.
The requirements of Digital Health in the healthcare sector majorly have a lot of requirements which includes searching the medical resources and knowledge, clinical support for the facilitation, monitoring the quality of the care, and also mapping the diseases which can be spread (Benis et al, 2021). This also can be beneficial in terms of tracking the supplies of the drugs and vaccines.
I can use digital technology for the purpose of communicating any new advancements in the health status of the patient to the doctors. I can use this technology to get acquainted with any new innovation made in the field of nursing, and I can also this technology to increase my technical proficiency. This technology can be used as a large warehouse of knowledge, whenever I get stuck in any unforeseen situation. I can go through a range of checks and previously performed tex=st to evaluate the accuracy of the information that I need. I can also use this technology to keep track of my in-house patients and can get regular follow-ups from them after discharge in case needed. It has also helped me to record health vitals in a more efficient manner as I can search for the method to enhance the accuracy of the task (Mathews et al, 2019).
Being a nurse is a highly demanding job but it also can be considered a job that plays an important role in fulfilling the life of others. There are some factors that if implemented can increase the performance capabilities of the nurses and also can decrease their burden which is monotonous for them (Petersen, 2018). Some of the digital health capabilities which can be adapted for identifying the area of improvement and also for improving the developmental needs of the nurses include (Mathews et al, 2019). However, it is essential that I understand my shortcomings where I need to learn and enhance my skills in order to perform my duty in a more efficient manner. Some of them are listed below:
- I can manage data more efficiently, if I learn the use of spreadsheets, pie chart inclusion and various excel functions (NHS, 2022).
- I also lack the knowledge to use various software which enhances the reading vitals of patients in a more comprehensive manner.
- I lack the ability to design tools, and I should learn this as it would help me to draw a certain criteria /chart for the expected intervention and this can be used by me or any other staff whenever a similar case arrives (Liaw et al, 2015).
- I lack the knowledge to use virtual consultation devices which is being innovated recently after the COVID-19 pandemic (Nazeha, et al, 2020).
As working as a nurse is a challenging task and require regular upgrade not only in the field of skill development but also requires technological development. To enhance my efficiency I need to attend various seminars which are organized in order to enhance my knowledge to use latest innovations. Also, I believe that I should do a crash course to learn various computer programing strategies that would help me in future.
Capabilities of Digital Health in improving nursing professionals
My primary responsibility as a health care manager is to create and foster an environment for the workers where they can necessarily provide their quality and health with the maximum profit. my role as the healthcare manager is to understand digital health and its benefits so as to adapt to more prominent technology as in the upcoming days it will be taking a bigger role in the healthcare sector. I also can manage health information as it can help me in analyzing and organizing the records of the patients which can control the database of patients (Mousa & Othman, 2020).. Even when the piece of legislation is highly qualitative if it’s implemented in the proper way.
As a nursing manager in a healthcare industry I would implement new innovations and technology in my organization so as to reduce the excessive burden on my staff and deliver quality services to the patients. As a manager, I would make policy as according to the national digital framework of Australia so that no issues are raised in the future upon my organization (Sabei, 2020). Apart from this I would organize various seminars to empower my staff about the need to become digitally qualified, this would help them to make decisions about whether they want to learn newer techniques or not. As the manager of my nursing staff, I would not force my decision on my team but rather would try to educate them on the need to upgrade (Cosgrave, 2020). Also, I will organize several seminars in my institution with the aim to train my staff about any new technology. Also, I would try to completely digitalize the future training procedures, so that organization also gets benefitted along with the staff and patients.
Conclusion
The report concludes the Digital health framework which is being currently used in Australia and also some of its benefits have also been discussed in the report which can benefit the healthcare industry. The digital health strategy framework which is being used by Australia has been assessed based on the capabilities and identification of the role of the healthcare industry which is Nursing and also the methods that can improve their development and professional have also been discussed.
