Growth potential in the hospitality industry

I believe that hospitality sector offer a good growth opportunity.  Langford (2020) stated that  hospitality industry has become the epitome of success.  As at the global level there are 187,000 hotels.  The data shared by Brandongaille highlighted that in every 2.5 seconds new job is added in the hospitality sector.  I would like to say that I opted to develop my career in this sector because of skills and my interest and because of exposure and career opportunities this sector provides. Some of factors that influenced me to take further steps in this sector included creative, excited and unique openings. As in this sector creativity can help to grow in the career and I am more kind of creative person and look for using my creativity skills (Langford, 2020).  With that, hospitality sector offer many different jobs such as chefs, event planner, supervisor, sommelier and so many. I think these reasons are not even enough as this industry has lot more to offer. But in order to excel in this field, I would like to share that the institution plays a significant role.  That is why I selected the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.  As this institution gives a simulated hotel environment in which it become easy to learn hotel industry norms and services.  Further, I am also interested in food and beverage area as food connects me to different culture and people. As I believe that food reflects cultural aspects of any country. So career in hospitality give me chance to explore different culture that I actually want to know.

I am currently working in the Raglan; the place offers Australian cuisine with hints of Asian fusion.  It can be said that the Raglan offer modern Australian with Chinese and Japanese fusion. The core values on which the company operates includes offering exquisite dished that local community can enjoy and ensure that food is of premium taste.  The Raglan offers detailed bar services and full services and all products are produced and offered keeping in mind the quality. With that as a part of sustainable practices the company procures their fresh raw materials from Australian local suppliers and ingredients provider.  The company operates on the philosophy that is driven by an enduring passion for delivery of customer service consistently and to serve amazing foods to people.  The uniqueness is in the trained chefs as they do their best to make customers experience memorable with the brand (The Raglan, 2022). The vision of the Raglan is to “create an environment where absolute guest satisfaction is our highest priority”.  The brand believe in creating flavor and this is done by offering personal rendition of Modern Australian cuisine with an innovative gastronomic take on traditional cooking methods. Through that the company in hospitality sector is looking for to bring a change by offering distinctive flavours to customers.  Some of things that improve customer experience are ; warm hand towels that guests will get with Jo Malone hand cream at the time of arrival and extra delicate touch of people add a good experience for customers (The Raglan, 2022).

Communication is one of the skills which help in developing a good relationship with an individual (Hargie, Dickson & Tourish, 2017). Communication skills are my biggest strength because it helps me in communicating with different kind of people. In my professional life, these skills help me a lot, and even in my daily life communication skills play a major role as I can handle relationships in a better way. Due to my good communication skills, I can communicate with different people and understand their problems as well. It has helped me in developing trust with many people. I would say that communication skill set is that skill set that is very useful for me it helps in overcoming the challenges in day-to-day life and also solve any miss communication gap with any individual.

Focus – I believe that focussing on things is something that has helped me a lot. I can focus on small things and that helps me in learning things as well. Even in my daily life routine, I can focus on small things and that helps me in remembering things. I feel that focus has helped me in building up my concentration skills. Concentration is the biggest asset for any individual (Wheelahan, 2015). I feel that focus also shapes up my personal development.

Strategic thinking – it is important to think in a better way to get a positive result. I am someone who is having a skill set of strategic thinking as I think about a particular thing a lot. I always plan a thing before implementing it in real life. Strategic thinking has helped me in countering many issues and that is something that has saved my time. I plan out things so that I can understand the potential risk involved with that plan. Strategic thinking helps in assessing things in a better way (Choi, Kim & Lim, 2019).

Influencing – Influencing an individual or group of people is one of the key things in professional life as well as personal life. I am having good influencing skills and that is why people can trust me within no time. They are also able to share the problems with me and I feel that I can influence every individual. Influencing skills has also developed my confidence because I feel that people can trust me. It also helps me take a major role in any event or any program because it requires influencing people as well (Yu, Lin & Liao, 2017).

Relationship Building  – Relationship building is one of my Gallup strengths and I feel that I am having the skills to develop a good relationship with others. It is just not about building skills but it is also about maintaining the relationship for a long time. Due to my relationship-building skills, I can develop a good environment near me and that helps me in spending time in favourable conditions.  For me, relationship building is important because it also helps in building a good bond with people and that can be useful in the tough time.

Specific	I want to become a leader and for that, I want to develop my leadership skills. For me, leadership is important for my personal development. For this goal, I will be taking help from seminars and modules as well.	One of my goals is to improve my decision-making ability. I want to develop my decision-making skills and this can be done with the help of modules and real-time situations. I want to achieve this goal to develop my skill sets and progress in my personal development.	It is one of the goals which will go for a lifetime. But at the same time, there are different phases of this goal. I will be looking forward to keeping an eye on regular progress made by me every 6 months.
Measurable	This development is measurable as I will be able to see that whether my leadership skills are evolving or not. It can be seen when I am leading a group or any function in my professional life.	This development is easily measurable as I will be able to solve my problems and can provide feedback in my organization which might be needed in making some important decisions.	This goal is easily measurable as I will be checking on my development.
Attainable	Yes, this goal is achievable. My Gallup skills will be quite helpful for me in attaining this goal.  I have some skills which are needed by a leader. I needed to develop a few more skills so that I can become a good leader.  I can easily build the other skills set around my strengths. It would not be tough for me.	Yes, I can easily achieve this goal. I have the skill of influencing skills and that is something that will also help me in decision making. There are a few things which I need to achieve this goal of becoming a good decision-maker.	For me, this goal is easily achievable. But I will be looking forwards to making good progress in this goal.
Relevant	For me, becoming a leader is important because it helps in understanding other people’s mindsets as well. A leader is someone who is needed in every organization as he is the one who can help in increasing the productivity of an organization as well.	Decision-making skills set are required in every profession to make some crucial decisions. These decisions are inclined towards the growth of an individual as well. it will help me a lot in my personal development.	For me, regular progress is important in life as it helps in making regular development. Regular development opens room for improvement and understanding weaknesses and strengths at that particular time.
Time-based	I want to achieve this goal within three months. I guess if I carry out my action plan in the right direction then I can achieve this goal.	This goal can be achieved within 2 months.	This goal requires 6 months and I can look forward to achieving development through this goal within 6 months.
