Importance of Communication and Relationship in Multicultural Leadership
Interaction is very important as a team leader. Therefore, my relationship with our team members should be strong and positive. I would like to get along with all the group members once in a month for maintaining that relationship and will organize web conferencing and new technological options. It would be beneficial for an entire workforce and all of us will be familiar regarding the strength and the weaknesses of our team members. Obligation and rewards will be given more to them for their great demonstrations if those are benefitting the business. For improving their performance appropriate training has to be provided to members which motivate the team for better effects.
A2 One has to make sure that communication systems are well established and properly maintained (Malhotra et al., 2007; Maruping & garwal, 2004). Yes, I totally agree with the statement that building of community will play a vital part in a virtual globe. It is considered to be the best way since people come from different communities, countries, and mainly cultures where they can present their, interests, opinions, feelings, and thoughts. There are some important points should follow to promote a sense of community and give opportunity to everyone for their participation.
Monitoring the performance of the team and their progress towards the accomplishment of a task is the first priority of a leader. When glitches are exposed, for determining the nature of the problem the leader should gather all the information and should use this information for formulating and implementing the effective solutions (Hackman & Walton, 1986).
- Maintain the self-confidence and more respect toward others.
- Should have better relationships with all the team members.
- Have to respect the member for different ideas and thinking styles.
- Though debate arises, the focus should be in the situation, but not on the individual or persons involved in it. With due respect to the functions of team performance, the role of the leader is to monitor the behaviours of team members and take action as required (Hackman &Walton, 1986; McGrath, 1962; Roby, 1961).

I strongly agree with you. As a team leader in maintaining the team interaction is very important. Because of that among the team member leaders need to have a strong and positive relationship. As you discussed maintain new technology among all the group members is the best way to communicate each other. On the other hand, it is beneficial for all whole workforces because it will give the idea about the strengths and weaknesses of all the team members in different geographical locations in different cultures. Totally a very different environment is offered by the virtual teams in which this process plays out due to different media of communication is used and preferably various needs of the leaders in facilitating the communication (Gajendran & Joshi, 2012; Hart & McLeod, 2003).
As a group team leader there is a great responsibility motivates the team members for better effects. Furthermore, for improving their performance training should be provided to them.
When glitches are exposed, for determining the nature of the problem the leader should gather all the information and should use this information for formulating and implementing the effective solutions (Hackman & Walton, 1986).
Leadership in a Global and Multicultural Society
As per my views, in developing a shared vision while leading a multicultural group a leader has faced many challenges. It is required for them to have some purpose and a leading vision, so that it will help the individual and the ‘‘organizational energy’’ (Cole et al., 2005) The key challenges are the diversity in cultures or the performance of the team members and the utmost key challenge is the communication because people come from various countries preferably will have diverse languages and level of thinking is different. The diversity among the employees could be one of the most challenging factors. According to ( Pless and Mark,2005 ) if leaders are responsible they will assemble people and lead the teams, all through the business, cultures and/or countries in achieving the performance objectives which are resulting from the strategic objectives of the organization. They also train and support the employees in achieving these objectives in a very ethical, respectful and ‘‘relationally intelligent’’ way.
Internal and External Factors in Multicultural Leadership
It is important for the organization to be aware of the internal and external factors of the multicultural leadership path which will apparently support the organization’s success. Internal factors are in contrary to the external factors which are generally the issues which affect the business and are beyond the management control. There are some instances of internal factors. Internal Factors: their Values and beliefs, the environment in the organization, style involved in solving the problem, the structure of the organization, their commitment, management, assets, and financial strength. On the other hand, external environment is not manageable. One of the key trends that are identified by Zander et al (2012) is shared leadership. The administrators of a business bring no control over benefits of the business rivals in multicultural team leadership. A positive relationship between shared leadership and virtual team effectiveness is found by Pearce et al (2004).
It may be essential will see all the cross society contrasts. For multicultural leadership having self-awareness is one of the first steps. A good communication skill is to be maintained by the multicultural leader who can actually understand the needs of their team members those are from different country and cultural backgrounds. A motivation should be given by the team leader to their members for their work hard and has to reward them. Always they should try to recognize the strength and weaknesses of the individual and encourage them in such a way that the person overcomes with his weakness. People from the different culture and country get attracted by advanced technology, adequate training and salary package for becoming a part of the firm. This optimistic attitude brings prosperity to the firm. In general, leadership is defined by the displaying of power and roles, yet within the counselling profession additional understanding of leadership has been described as the act of leading and providing guidance to others in their careers for developing future leaders within the field of counselling (Black & Magnuson, 2005).
I completely consent for your suggestions towards those circumstances. It may be vital for at whatever culturally differentiated association will need reasonable goals, which if be caught on toward each representative. The association ought further bolstering name those representatives dependent upon their abilities Furthermore strengths, without At whatever thought will their society or Inception and so on. This will create feeling from claiming equity amongst them. It ought to likewise concentrate towards those inward variables of the association which have an immediate effect on the execution of the workers. Outside variables need aid additionally with make paid consideration to, however they act past our control. Setting each representative as stated by their abilities will assistance them with perform their best.
A1. Carol should assess the situation and issues faced by all the team members. It is evident that all the members of a team regardless of its size are different, as they come from different cultural backgrounds or they face different personal issues or most likely that they are not motivated to work. Carol should motivate her team members. A slow employee like Tom can be motivated by giving rewards or making the work more enjoyable. Tom should be recognized for his previous achievements, and should be asked to assist Carol in other works. It is important to consider that productivity can be achieved if the employees are given appropriate resources to produce it (Ackah, 2014). When employees are mentored and coached they can be motivated to bring best results.
A2. Diverse team members come from different cultures and are at different levels of Maslow’s hierarchy and hence, they need to be motivated and communicated with differently. All the team members in this case have different motivational and productivity issues and hence, they need to be communicated differently. It is possible to deal with all the team members differently in case of small teams, as the manager can employ new motivational strategies so as to deal with the employee issues.
When the team size increases, it becomes difficult for the managers to communicate with the team members individually. Technological innovations have introduced various medium of communication, and hence, it is possible for the managers to communicate with the team members operating in different locations (Durant et al., 2006). However, the managers must try to foster a healthy environment so that the employees are self-motivated, and also, the managers must focus on reward systems, so that the employees are motivated to complete their jobs effectively. Employee motivation is the key to employee performance and productivity (Sohmen, 2013).
