d) Describe a decision you helped a parent make.
Ways to involve parents in Early Education
The decision was to retain parent’s child in our education center. The parent had idea of transferring child to another education center due to the feeling that child had little progress in English language. I ensured that the parent participated in assessing child English language skill especially written skills. The parent realized how positively the child has progress in English performance since the child joined education center hence the need to retain the child at the center. This situation has produce satisfactory results and parents fell happy with the overall result thereby appreciating our services at the institution.
e) We can improve performance as educator through allowing members of families to suggest some ideas that are also implemented in learning process or in educating their children. In this sense families will feel part of the system especially achievement of their children8. Educator feels motivated when families are involved in educating children. Involving families in educating children especially in decision making on the type of services provided to their children help improve the performance of educator.
3. a) indicators about a child and their family that may indicate they need additional support from resources within the community include
i. child health,
ii. The relationship between social and family functioning and child health
iii. Resource domain such as income, psychological and social capital
b) Notice on diversity
The most common issue in the current society is effect of diversity in learning especially where there is mixture of culture and ideas. As an institution educators uphold and respect the diversity that exists among children, families11 and community. With this respect the education center does not consider the following in offering services:
- Parent Income
- Psychology capital or
- Social capital
The institution respect diversity and harmonize service delivery to ensure children achieve desirable result based on their ability not social status. With this in mind we encourage parents and family to participate through
- Decision making
- Suggestion for improvement and
- Assessment
Therefore, families and community should feel welcomed to participate in raising or child rearing exercise bearing in mind the following pillars:
- Building relationship
- Respectful partnership
- Reflective learning practice
- High expectations and
- Respect for diversity
