The potential for automation in Healthcare
The healthcare industry is a critical aspect, which should be given tremendous importance. In the recent past, there have been a lot of changes within the field of healthcare. A disability is also known as ailment within a person that would be affecting them to some extent. Human service design would be beneficial for removing the possibility of facing any unwanted situations. This has been majorly seen in terms of data and the stored quality of information. According to Mennemeyer et al. (2016) the most prominent shift of this sector could be discusses as the transformation of this sector from the traditional paper based methods to adoption of computers for their use in daily scenarios. With the latest trends in the market for the huge form of adoption of automation services, it has been realised that the impact of automation could lead to tremendous ease of operations and successful healthcare services within proper time. The IT automation processes would greatly help in performing and solving vast form of complex tasks and improved services, which was not possible within the older systems as discussed by Drucker (2014).
With the rapid shift of various form of services within various public systems such as banks and libraries, it has been seen that the use of automation services for solving healthcare related solutions within persons having several form of disabilities would be of great usage. The sector of healthcare is a ripe place for innovation. With the impact of the HITECH Act, there were many hospitals, which had digitized their processes from the traditional culture and had implemented the use of computers for their daily processes (Mennemeyer et al., 2016). The growth of automation services would prove to be great help for gaining better form of outcomes within the sector.
The process of automation would be useful for medical professionals. These professionals mainly depend on data centres, which should be available and should function all the time. Any form of system error could prove to fatal for the life of patients. Automation within the sector could be helpful in providing constant monitoring and would be able to send instant and real-time alerts of the system downtime in order to address the problem on an urgent basis.
With the impact of automation services, the medical providers would be highly efficient in increasing the safety of patients. This could be done by leveraging the use of technology in order to minimize the clinical errors, which could majorly affect the patients. The software within field service would be able to eliminate the needs of paperwork, thus cutting down the time for administrative processes. The discussion by Qureshi and Syed (2014) based on the use of automation has led to the development of smart scheduling tools, which could be used for facilitating the appointments with doctors based on their chosen symptoms.
The impact of automation within the sector of healthcare would prove to be effective for those patients who would find it difficult for travelling to the hospital in order to gain proper form of treatment. The advent of automation services would provide the ease of performing those operations from their homes. Automation has also helped the medical coders in order to function properly. The coders are generally responsible for collecting procedural data, diagnosis and equipment information. They then convert these valuable information into alphanumeric codes, which is one of the most critical aspect within the field. The mistakes in collection and storing of data could prove to be highly fatal for the patients as well as doctors. With the huge wave of Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence, which are deeply penetrating into the market would be helpful for simplifying the various complex processes within the medical sector as proposed by Lu et al. (2018).
Benefits of automation in Healthcare
The healthcare sector generates a vast amount of information on a daily basis. Unlike most of the industries, the various stages within the healthcare activities should be monitored and the accurate data should be collected at each stages. This would mean that there would be a lot of pressure within the IT systems. This would suggest that the healthcare systems, which are supported by IT would need the processes of automation due to the purpose that the predictable and routine based processes would mostly be replicated by robotics. Doctors would be highly helpful as they would be control the activities of certain operations within their fingerprints. Real-time data from the medical systems could be easily fetched and thus the doctors would be able to provide better form of recommendations and treatment based efficiencies (Bond & Gasser, 2014). Doctors would be highly helped as they would be able to dig through data based on the current situations and health of the patient. The right form of automation tool would allow for easy report of operations such that they would be able to focus on the caring of patients. There are some form of medical based standards that includes the HIPAA and the HITECH Acts. The healthcare industry should widely consider the protocols set by them. The impact of automation should also be able to comply according to the standards, which are already set by them in accordance to the rules of the government.
The use of logic model, which is also known as the theory of change or program matrix should also be included during the development of automation services. This model could be used within the systems during the planning and implementation phases. The use of co-creation would be useful for encompassing the entire design process of the system. Co-design would help in defining the problems that would be faced during the implementation of automation processes within the medical sector. According to Nutley and Reynolds (2013), the use of co-production would help in the planning of tasks that would be done after the raw materials would be brought and then some new form of technology would be generated within the automation systems, which would be highly efficient than the existing systems within the healthcare sector. The concept of inclusion would also be fruitful in this context as the use of automation services would also prove to be beneficial to all people regardless of their disabilities, abilities or different needs of healthcare. This is due to the reason that these people have the basic right to get respect and be valued as prominent members within the society and communities.
One of the processes is the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) that had been thought as a concept for several years. The application of this technology would allow the employees within the medical sector to configure the computer based software in order and thus integrate the existing applications for the purpose of processing of transactions, trigger responses, manipulate data and communicate with other digital systems.
Based on the above conclusions, I have learnt that the impact of automation within the healthcare sector should be highly improved. IT operating systems should be highly effective in understanding of the requirements of the patients. Accuracy of predicting data based on the patients should be improved to a much higher extent. According to my perspective, the systems should highly focus on the set standards such as HIPAA and HITECH in accord to the laws set by the government of any country. This would be highly needed in designing the systems in such a manner that they would not violate any form of system based operations as defined by Neumann et al. (2016). The developers of these systems should focus on developing efficient algorithms that would be able to detect any form of needs within the healthcare industry.
Conclusion
Based on the above discussion, it could be concluded that the impact of automation would automatically be able to generate better form of work efficiency and improve the necessities of the patients. With the use of automation processes, manually conducted tasks would be efficient be performed with machines, which would eventually lead to saving of time and operational costs. Higher form of automation would be helpful in generating better quality outcomes based on serving of patients, areas of medical records, support of making decisions, order entry. As automation systems are devoid of human fatigue or error, hence they would be able to serve for the betterment of the patients and thus incur healthy outcomes.
