Procedures of personal development plan is based on the learnings, reflections, knowledge, values, awareness for the betterment of career, education, relationship and self-improvement. Personal development is used for identifying opportunities for aligning job duties with the employee’s personal goals (McKenzie, 2017). This helps to invest in yourself so that one can manage oneself effectively regardless of what life may bring in the way. Personal development plan is the key component for excellent lifestyle. It creates self-awareness, sense of direction, improved effectiveness and focus, help to increase motivation and gaining greater resilience (Drucker, 2017). With the improved personal development plan, more fulfilling relationship can be grown and ability to manage oneself in the variety of situation is increased.
Personal development begins with the identification of personal values beliefs and purpose of the goals which have been set to achieve. Chasing own objectives and goals lead to personal fulfilment and pleasure. Great opportunities for self-improvement and learning are provided by personal development process. This process gives scope for having sense of direction which helps to focus on the quality rather than quantity (Gresh et al., 2016). With pure sense of direction one can eliminate all the distractions of the goals and get more clarity about the goals.
Aim: the aim of this report is to build a personal development plan which will help to transform the weaknesses into strengths within next five years. This PDP aims to identify factors in order to gain all-inclusive experience in the automobile industry, learning to research productively and efficiently so that a new business can be started and 360-degree development of self and career.
Personal development is a lifelong process. This is the only way that helps people to assess their qualities and skills, consider their aims in life and set goals to realize as well as maximize their potential (Perusse et al., 2015). Through proper identification of personal skills, one need to set life goals that can enhance employability prospects, raise confidence and lead to more fulfilling as well as higher quality of life. The plans for making relevant, effective and positive life choices.
Honesty: the idea of honesty gives ultimate power. This helps one to build confidence, cuts through the deceptive people and makes one to be attractive as well as high-status (McGrath, 2014). It gives a lot of creative energy and makes the leaders authentic to the employees. Honesty completely contradicts the idea of white lies, omission of information and self-deception. Maintaining honesty is quiet hard in some situations. In business there are many attractions for increasing the productivity of firm but most of them are unethical. The quality of honesty in the leaders, help them to avoid such elusive matters and do right thing in right manner (Ward, 2016). Therefore, it can be said that this quality will help to assess the right way for gaining new experiences and starting new business at right time. financial factor is another aspect which will test the honesty without which I shall not be able to start my own business.
Importance of Personal Development Plan
Hard work: hard work is considered to be the key of success. However, very few people can put in adequate productive work before they receive anything in return. This is how they are distinguished from the hard workers (Cottrell, 2015). For hardworking one needs to be focused as well as consistent in their work which means not to indulge in distractions for a long time. It is the process of being patient and believing the process and changing own approach to get the best result ultimately. Hard work helps the leaders to strategize to incorporate new things with the initial vision. It helps to build discipline which will have great impact on the leader and the followers as well (Gould, 2017). Hard work therefore, is essential to complete study in an effective manner and grow business in the highly competitive automobile industry.
Confidence: Confidence is not a thing which can be learnt like sets of rules rather it is a state of mind. Through positive thinking, training, practice, knowledge and speaking to other people in the surroundings are the useful ways for improving or boosting the confidence levels (Burnham, 2015). This comes from the feelings of wellbeing, belief in own capabilities and acceptance of own self-esteem. Confidence is not static measure hence it convincers of decrease depending upon performance roles, functions and difficulty of tasks. This particular value can be adopted as well as improved. Though the means of planning and preparation, having positive thoughts, being assertive all the time, gaining experience and avoiding arrogance (Tattum & Tattum, 2017). Hence it can be said that confidence is essential factor which will help in entering the automobile industry and gain ample experience to start a new business.
Setting goals is the key factor to attain success (Clifford et al., 2015). Having clear and well defining goals can help me to improve collaboration and teamwork, making others understand the actual objectives or the direction of the business thus the business grow. I shall have the goals written down with the set dates of accomplishment that gives me something for planning and working for. It is the external representation of the inner desires which constantly reminds me of what to be accomplished (Betts, Kapushion & Carey, 2016). There are common patterns of workings towards achieving goals where I amy get demotivated but the achievable goals will help me to focus as well as visualize for connecting him better with my internal desires and keep me motivated. Setting SMART goals are important to evaluate the capabilities and keep one on appropriate track for achieving them (Chan, 2017).
Factors for Personal Development Plan
Specific: I shall start a new business in the automobile industry where I shall be the leader
Measurable: I shall measure my progress by keeping track of how much experience about the industry I have gained
Achievable I shall improve assessment quality through various leadership theories
Relevant: I shall improve my collaboration and teamwork experience to be an efficient leader
Timely: I shall complete these within 5 years.
Setting SMART goals is the initial step to visualize the desired situation. The chief matter is to identify the right path to accomplish them successfully. I have set these goals as I have dreamt to be a successful entrepreneur in the next 5 years. As I am a university student now, my first step will be to pass out with brilliant result so that marks do not become a barrier in achieving my aim. Therefore, I need to complete my masters first so that I get the opportunity to apply in the renowned automobile companies. This is mandatory because, marks are vital to judge the range of my study as well as quality and values. Through good marks, my seriousness and hard work will be reflected. Moreover, with regular studies I need to groom myself so that I can am not let down in the interview. This an implicit fact that whatever profession I choose I need to know how to communicate which will not be there if I am not confident about my views and thoughts. This process of learning effective communication style and confidence will keep me motivated to face all type of challenge.
One of the most vital challenges of reaching goals is that the due date is far away therefore, many people either feel demotivated or put off taking any action until it is too late (Ennico, 2018). This is the reason why I want to look at the amount of time I have and the goals I want to achieve then create mini goals which will gradually take me towards my big goals that is to start a new automobile company. During the procedure, I will be specific on the elements will be needing to reach the mini and big goals within the particular time frame. This is the reason I have specified my action of colleting masters within a year, getting three-year experience in the automobile industry for three years then plan as well as research for a few months then start the business in the next year. To complete all these, I need to take regular actions hence I will make the list of tasks each day so that I can be gradually move towards my goal. After completing my education, my immediate plan is to enter a global automobile company so that I can have a knowledge about the operations of this particular industry. Global company will give me host of new opportunities. First of all, every necessary fact about the core operation of the industry will be clear to me. Secondly, if the company works globally, then I will be getting opportunities to work in a cross-cultural diversity. Finally, in the organization, I will get the scope to face real life scenarios which will help me to enhance assessment skills. I want to start a business of my own this is the reason why I would like to gain enough knowledge about this industry.
Honesty and Its Role in Personal Development
My big goal is to start new business hence money is the mist necessary fact. This is the reason why I have to plan or strategies to find a perfect sources of capital. Without capital I cannot start my new business in the industry as there are numerous expenses associated with business. There can many ways to get loans but for this I need to be competent enough to repay the debt. Therefore, I need to have an apt and dependable background based on which I will get the money. I have decided to mortgage my property to get the loan. In the process of developing myself and moving towards the goals, I will be following or keeping track of my daily actions myself so that I can evaluate how well my plan is working.
Conclusion:
Therefore, it can be concluded that personal development plan is one of the most important factor that helps the individuals to find the personal strengths and weaknesses. Through this, the persons set specific goals and plan accordingly to accomplish them successfully. Starting a business is not an incident of a day. For doing this one need to plan many things as there are various barriers which prevent the development process. Personal development plan not only helps to identify personal SWOT but helps to find the ways to bring balance in them. Setting goals in respect to time helps one to keep motivated in the process and avoid all the distractions in life. The SMART goals are combined with values like honesty, hard work and confidence (Ennico, 2018). Proper understanding the importance of these values and their impact on the development plan ease the situations and help the persons to achieve their goals effectively.
I need to have proper resources like money and time in the process to reach my goal. Time is mandatory because nobody has control on it. Wasting precious minutes can definitely have huge effect on my plan. Therefore, I will be preventing other distractions to steal my time and develop new skills. In addition to this, I need money without which I will not be able to start the business which is the chief goal of my life. I need to understand my strengths which I can improve at any point of life. I need to recognize my opportunities and threat and take immediate action to nullify the negatives in me.
