1.1 Andragogy is a special teaching theory developed specially for adults. This theory is influenced by the children teaching theory pedagogy, which made high similarity between these two theories. The basic principles of this theory is allowing the adult learner to know the purpose of their learning, practical implementation, problem solving learning, immediate usage of the subject. Through this, Each student can develop their own learning checklist on weekly basis that can help to keep track about their learning activities and due activities Multiple intelligence is a specific teaching theory for adult learners that allows the holistic growth of learner in tremens of reasoning capability, communication, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, bodily kinaesthetic intelligence and spatial intelligence. In this teaching practice, the learning objectives are equally distributed to every direction of intellectual growth of the student. It allow the students to Participate in Quality Improvement processes in the workplace, considering the priorities and commitments of self and other members 1.2 National Foundation Skills Strategy for Adults or NFSSA is a ten years long educating framework for adult learners. This framework focuses on the holistic improvement of the adult learner considering their lingual, numeracy, literacy and employability growth. The education department in the government of Australia promotes this strategic framework. The framework helps to develop the lesson plan to be more practical, viable and tangible in order to make the learner skilled for employment. The 2003 NAAL or National Assessment of Adult Literacy Framework is a government promoted framework in United state. As per this framework, 3 primary measures are available to develop a adult literacy learning process that comprises prose, document and quantitative. The selection of these components depends on the implication of the literacy learning programs for the adults. 1.3 In Adult learning theories and frameworks in Australian education system, an educator needs to take account of the principles as well to develop a successful and feasible lesson plan for adult learners. Before developing a program of adult literacy through language learning lesson plan the current English language skills of the adult learners need to be identified and analysed. It will help to determine the needs of their language skill. Verbal communication: Talking with the surrounded peoples in English language can help to detect the verbal communication skill of the students Writing skill: Regular maintain a personal diary in English can help the assessors to identify the specific issues in writing style and their knowledge of English sentence making. Reading skill: Trying to read every text written in English can help the students to demonstrate their reading capability from which their level of skill in reading can be identified. Listening: Through involving in a drama and movie watching event the students have to display their listening capability in English language. Then the student have to reflect on that particular topic which they had seen. From this description their capacity of listening and understanding English 1.4 Adult literacy program can occur in multilingual and multicultural context, where all students are from different cultural and lingual background and they are seeking for English literacy training. The major disadvantage in this context is diversity that requires additional effort to make cultural competency within the students. For the literacy training of isolated community in rural area and for indigenous peoples who still do not receive proper academic support the adult literacy program can be formed. In this situation the awareness of education and literacy should be built up within the target student. Adult literacy program can be also needed in refugee camp where immigrants from different nation come live a normal life under the umbrella of this nation. The major disadvantage is reaching to these people is very complicated process for any program. |

In your management or delivery or development of literacy programs, how do you incorporate the appropriate adult learning and development strategies? |
To Incorporate appropriate learning strategy I have researched several government and international level learning and lesson planning policies regarding literacy training for adult learners. It includes the adult literacy teaching practices, current teaching strategies in adult Literacy learning contexts, basic adult learning principles, independent teaching approaches, concepts of traditional learning resources and 5 levels of achievement in the ACSF. These materials has been collected from online study materials, including research articles, journals, published reports and others. At the same time for traditional resources I had to gather knowledge form several hardcopies of Literatures and handbooks. |
In review or development of resources for literacy learners what are you looking for? What would make you select one resource over another? |
For this study I had to collect several information from different independent resource. Each of these resources has their own strategic explanation on adult literacy learning styles, approaches and success factors. Therefore, to prioritise these issues and comparing them with other resources I had to compare each of the resources with another. It gave me the set of most suitable and appropriate resources that can provide adequate information of Australian Adult literacy and learning program. The resources are sorted in hierarchical manner through which the less important study materials could be neglected and the critical resources could be prioritise. |
How do you see literacy delivered most effectively? What tools have you used or encouraged others to use that would support literacy development? |
To evaluate the lesson plans on literacy I have taken several interviews for each of the students to learn about their difficulties and strength. Apart from that, a survey has been conducted to understand the loopholes in the learning and teaching plan for literacy. I have also provided some additional study materials in a simulated learning environment as well as specific lesson as per their preference and interest. It will help the student to learn the dynamic use of English language, which can improve their spoken as well as writing skill effectively. Understanding different style of language presentation can also help to enlarge the stock of words. |
When you participate or provide professional development sessions or moderate with colleagues what are the definitive stories on literacy learning that you can share? Why choose those? |
After each of the strategic outcomes of my lesson planning on literacy planning I used to communicate with my peers regarding my experience. At the same time, they also shared their experience in a group discussion environment. In this environment I can listen about other’s experience and also share my experience freely. At the same time, listening about a larger pool of adult students helped me to analyse the perspective of the chosen group on which I have to carry out my study report. These discussions acted as a partial assessment tool for my study. |

For Adult learners with a range of linguistic backgrounds can creates a diversity in learning session that can create some barriers during translation based language learning process. For this, the lesson plan should more focus on the curriculum based approach where they have to interact by non verbal representation. The Adult learners needing to learn in a specific work environment requires most practical based learning approach that is viable for their professional field. For this the learners should learn in a application based linguistic development lesson that will allow them to focus on the utility of their learning materials. |

4.1 To be effective teachers of adult learners from diverse backgrounds who can feel intimidated and exhibit a lack of confidence when participating in programs that focus on the development of English language skills, practitioners need to create an environment that is conducive to language learning. Therefore, a practitioner can create a friendly learning environment where the learners can discuss about their ambiguities clearly. It will help the to create a learning environment in which adult students feel safe, secure and supported. Your answer needs to provide five or more strategies/skills that would help create such an environment. 4.2 Acknowledging the relationship between language and social, cultural, political and religious identity will help to make the students aware of the importance of learning the language in various utilisable forms such as written and oral. The analysis and influence of socio cultural identity will also help to students to get accustomed with the regular utilisation of English language. By discussing the role language plays in meeting work requirements effectively in workplace setting, the students can understand their learning outcomes and their importance in regular life. This curriculum based lesson plan will help them to develop more interest in the learning activities. Teaching differences between spoken and written forms will help the student to learn the dynamic use of English language, which can improve their spoken as well as writing skill effectively. Understanding different style of language presentation can also help to enlarge the stock of words. 4.3 Involving in a group discussion that can allow them to interact with peers through English language can increase their understanding of English language and their utilities in verbal communication. Listening English movie, drama and other entertainment program can help the students to develop their understanding of English language along with the listing capability. Students can participate in debate where they can listen the English speaking system and approaches. It will help them to develop their perception and conceptualisation of English words and sentences. 4.4 Participating in a story writing competition in English language will allow the students to use range of words in a proper order that can help to develop their knowledge in English language and grammar. Making a key words and finding the basic information about the words or a practical life object will allow the learners to develop learning skill. Each student can develop their own learning checklist on weekly basis that can help to keep track about their learning activities and due activities Keeping a list of frequently used words and applying them in regular basis to be accustomed with the English language can help the student to learn new vocabularies. 4.5 Creating a short report that describes previous English classes or other training course can be helpful for this students. Writing a list of tasks, which have to be completed by the specific members of the group including the roster, action plan can help to develop knowledge Writing a brief text message for a peers or co-worker which could be shift changeover note and others can help the students to write cautions Abiding by the touch screen instructions to search for information and locating a specific shop in large shopping complex can help them to improve their learning and position identification skill as well. Locating a particular information from a short text which can be a table of employee benefits or a pay slip or an employment documentation or even own job description or work update from staff memo can help the student to utilise their learned knowledge. Reading dials and scales on machinery/equipment including automatic weigher on packaging machine or temperature dials in counters, franking machine, sewing machine tension, air pressure gauge can help students to improve their English language knowledge as well as numeracy skill. Participation in Quality Improvement processes in the their workplace while considering the priorities and commitments of self and other members can help their to be accustomed with the English language and utilisations. Developing and using personal organisation systems including files, notebooks, folders and checklists help the students to take the advantage of everyday practice. Negotiating communication in Professional Development plan according to the personal and workplace needs while taking the responsibility for organising the formal training component can improve the self confidence of the students Shaping language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) levels using appropriate tools, including those based on the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), for 3 learners will be helpful Identifying the necessities of training as per the ACSF can improve the overall student’s performance. Planning training and assessment that incorporates LLN support strategies relevant to at least two different learners, or groups of learners, in response the ACSF assessment and learners’ goals Reviewing individual’s strategy, and strategies of others, can support the LLN learning and teaching practices and others extended practices. 4.6 To evaluate the lesson plans I can take several interviews for each of the students to learn about their difficulties and strength. Apart from that, a survey can be conducted to understand the loopholes in the learning and teaching plan for literacy. I can provide some additional study materials as well as specific lesson as per their preference and interest. |

In your management or delivery or development of language skills programs, how do you incorporate the appropriate adult learning and development strategies? |
To Incorporate appropriate learning strategy I have researched several government and international level learning and lesson planning policies regarding literacy training for adult learners. It includes the adult literacy teaching practices, current teaching strategies in adult Literacy learning contexts, basic adult learning principles, independent teaching approaches, concepts of traditional learning resources and 5 levels of achievement in the ACSF. These materials has been collected from online study materials, including research articles, journals, published reports and others. At the same time for traditional resources I had to gather knowledge form several hardcopies of Literatures and handbooks. |
In review or development of resources for language skills learners what are you looking for? What would make you select one resource over another? |
For this study I had to collect several information from different independent resource. Each of these resources has their own strategic explanation on adult literacy learning styles, approaches and success factors. Therefore, to prioritise these issues and comparing them with other resources I had to compare each of the resources with another. It gave me the set of most suitable and appropriate resources that can provide adequate information of Australian Adult literacy and learning program. The resources are sorted in hierarchical manner through which the less important study materials could be neglected and the critical resources could be prioritise. |
How do you see language skills delivered most effectively? What tools have you used or encouraged others to use that would support language skills development? |
To evaluate the lesson plans on literacy I have taken several interviews for each of the students to learn about their difficulties and strength. Apart from that, a survey has been conducted to understand the loopholes in the learning and teaching plan for literacy. I have also provided some additional study materials in a simulated learning environment as well as specific lesson as per their preference and interest. It will help the student to learn the dynamic use of English language, which can improve their spoken as well as writing skill effectively. Understanding different style of language presentation can also help to enlarge the stock of words. |
When you participate or provide professional development session or moderate with colleagues what are the definitive stories on language skills learning that you can share? Why choose those? |
After each of the strategic outcomes of my lesson planning on literacy planning I used to communicate with my peers regarding my experience. At the same time, they also shared their experience in a group discussion environment. In this environment I can listen about other’s experience and also share my experience freely. At the same time, listening about a larger pool of adult students helped me to analyse the perspective of the chosen group on which I have to carry out my study report. These discussions acted as a partial assessment tool for my study. |

How do you manage a mixed cultural group of language skills learners in terms of creating a cohesive group? What do you have to know to enable this? |
I have visited an adult literacy program that occurred in multilingual and multicultural context, where all students are from different cultural and lingual background and they are seeking for English literacy training. The major disadvantage in this context is diversity that requires additional effort to make cultural competency within the students. I have also visited the literacy training of isolated community in rural area and for indigenous peoples who still do not receive proper academic support the adult literacy program can be formed. In this situation the awareness of education and literacy should be built up within the target student. I visited many refugee camps Adult literacy program can be also needed in refugee camp where immigrants from different nation come live a normal life under the umbrella of this nation. The major disadvantage is reaching to these people is very complicated process for any program. |
How do you manage the mixed level group and facilitate their learning? What knowledge of the Macro-Skills in the ACSF do you have that would support your management? |
Keeping a list of frequently visited place and applying them in regular basis to be accustomed with the English language can help me to learn about new groups of students who need literacy training. Making a key words and finding the basic information about the words or a practical life object will allow me to develop appropriate learning skill development training materials. I have developed own teaching and learning based activity checklist on weekly basis that can help to keep track my teaching activities and the learning progress including the due activities |
Does using the Training Package or units of competency restrict or create opportunities for language skills development? What stories can you share of these experiences? |
These training packages and units are not restricted for a particular group of students. However, these activity sets were developed for any individual participant who wants to develop their learning skill through literacy development program. During these activities some of the experience became more valuable and unique for my personal and professional development as well. I have visited an adult literacy program that occurred in multilingual and multicultural context, where all students are from different cultural and lingual background and they are seeking for English literacy training. All of the participants were active and interested about learning new activity based knowledge. |
How do you deal with age diverse groups and what tools would you use tho maximise their participation? |
To deal with diverse groups of adult student social, cultural and demographical background I had to maintain a friendly and cooperative environment where they can express their abilities and ambiguities. Apart from that the group of adult learners are also separated by different section according to their interest and age. It helped the learning strategies to be implemented effectively. Though this students also excepted the learning techniques as well as the activities while increasing their interest on the topic and learning outcomes. |
