Recruitment and role of managers in selection process
In this assessment an annotated bibliography has been made on peer reviewed journal articles related to manufacturing sector thereby selecting five articles. All the major areas have been covered in these articles relating human resource factors in manufacturing firms. The selection process along with recruitment has been studied first since these are initial process made by any firms. Job designing process have also been discussed which gives a brief information regarding requirements for a sound management system. Since no work is free of challenges, this paper has also identified different challenges faced by HR managers and process required to overcome those. HR policies have also been categorized in this paper which will help to make a thought out plan for efficient job design. Additional to it, this paper has also recognised HR requirements in the firms which suffer with lean manufacturing and motivational factors of their employees.

This article examines human resource management team of manufacturing sectors who are highly responsible for success of the business. The main purpose behind this article is to examine the practices under taken by HR teams of manufacturing sectors in selection and recruitment process. Such a significant observation requires an empirical research, and for this, a research methodology had been made by collecting primary data of various manufacturing units and comparing the selection processes made by them. In this article, the research and observation process has been made which reveals the recruitment process under taken by them. Many companies’ follows few steps or stages in which employees has to perform which enables the managers to select them in qualitative way. The process of selecting competitive staff is made after analysing their qualifications and interest in work. Determining the attractive ways to attract competent employees is also looked after. This article concludes with a result that both the processes are time consuming and critical. No organisation can follow similar pattern for selection or recruitment since work related analysis differs from each other. Thus selecting highly qualified HR team is suggested in this article to get a qualified staff in manufacturing sectors.
While this study applies to the public sector, its findings are useful in my study of manufacturing sector because without having a basic knowledge about selection or recruitment process, we cannot provide our business with a healthy and fruitful environment. Role of HR managers in today’s business world is no more limited to selection only, but many other functions like recruiting already selected people in organisations. For any business, profit making is the most important factor and for the same, capable and competitive employees are highly required which can be made only after gaining a keen knowledge about it. Although the quality of the management team is expected to give fair chances to all employees, still many times they fail to do so and can overlook employee benefits and capabilities. But a successful enterprise will always make its selection and recruitment in thought out and strategic manner. This article will be used in the next assessment as findings of the method in selection and recruitment process in manufacturing sector has been clearly explained in this research paper. The roles of HR managers explained briefly in the article along with their responsibility in the processes have given much valuable information which can be used further.

This article will help in examining difficulties HR managers have to face and ways in which they can reduce their challenges in manufacturing sector. Development of HR department has been the focal point of this article and while identifying the roles of HR teams, their challenges have also been discussed in this article. For competing in this changing business world, developing organisations, with the help of change management process can provide beneficial steps in manufacturing firms. Those who still believe in traditional methods of selections and designing the roles of employees are the ones who suffer from losses. The research methodology used in this paper after identifying various challenges like workforce declination, retention in employees, difficulty in recruitment, worldwide competition, etc. has given a scope to get prepared for challenges that are possible in HR field. The article finds that to become a successful HR manager one has to develop personal skill and knowledge while providing sufficient effort for company’s development. The strategies and system of HR managers requires to be systematic and strategic so that if any of the challenge is met in the due course, it is been tackled skilfully.
Since my study is based on public sector, this article will develop my understanding in identifying challenges faced by HR managers in manufacturing firms. In organisations, there are many processes that take place for creating employees work criteria. During this phase, there may be employees who are unsatisfied with work conditions or company’s principles. Here the role of HR becomes crucial as they need to maintain a sound relation between employers and employees while making their employees believes that their work is not been exploited. In order to compete with other manufacturing units of similar product, the company needs to keep their foundation strong and thus strategic decisions are required to deal with complex situation. Therefore, this article will help me further by demonstrating issues and challenges faced by manufacturing units. This article will also provide with the necessary information regarding the types of challenges that are usually met by manufacturing units and what is required in order to overcome those. The standards and strategies required to study further have also been laid in the paper which will help to make further research in this topic.

This article examines the key policies that are required to be undertaken by manufacturing units along with process of implementing them. Although such policies are not taken care in early stages, still this article suggests identifying their requirements so that their advantages are benefitted from the beginning. In manufacturing business, attracting and retaining competent staff has become very difficult due to tiring nature of work. Therefore, this article is used as it provides with necessary information regarding policies used for developing HR standards in the firm. While appointing temporary staff during peak periods and utilising highly qualified staff in creative areas are some of the guidelines mentioned in this article. During training period maintaining safe policies that avoid hurting staff sentiments along with mandating training phase to new recruiters has also been mentioned along with other job development processes. The article concludes with the information which is required to be recognised while studying the needs for development of HR practises in manufacturing units and their growing demand in today’s business trend. The article also states benefits of strategic HR management and sound HR policies that would enhance work development.
While this study applies to the public sector, the findings of the above article will provide me with necessary information about policies and procedures in HR filed of manufacturing unit. Creating only a team is not sufficient for smooth running of enterprise but to keep upgrading the entire system is also significant. As this article provides me with the information about several steps undertaken for developing HR policies, it can prove to be an additional benefit as an HR manager. After gaining knowledge about how to manage employees, I can manage employees during the times of discontentment and even try to avoid such circumstances. Moreover, to make a study of policies like training and orientation, employee retention, personal development and recruiting and hiring of capable employee will give an additional benefit as an HR manager. This article will give me important information in my further assessment since all the major policies are discussed in this article. If further research is made in the above mentioned polices in manufacturing sector, it can prove to be beneficial in the next assessment.

This article examines key drivers that require to be considered while practicing the process of job designing. In this paper, global drivers that affect the overall business world have been identified and demonstrate the reason behind sustainable growth path in HR field of job designing. The purpose behind this research is to point out the core of socio technical guidelines those are required for designing human jobs in organisations. Necessary principles and their implications have also been discussed by various authors that can be adapted in HR systems. This process also includes redesigning jobs which means to switch works among employees to improve work quality. The research methodology used in this article is based on systematic reviews and analysis made by different interventions and their finings for improving and designing required job. Theoretical concepts for well being have also been stated that suggest undertaking compatible organisational processes and systems. Research questions regarding employment practices and job designing has been answered in this article by utilising research methodology of reviewing and extracting data collected from credible sources. The findings have been evaluated that provides necessary information for the HR teams in manufacturing firms. The article concludes with its findings after making a questionnaire with different groups of people and evaluating the same to find out the effective ways of creating an efficient job design.
While this study applies to the public sector, its findings will provide a great assistance in making my research on the job designing system in manufacturing sectors. As this research paper had already made initial investigations along with interactions made by employees in manufacturing field, it would be of great help in making further assessment relating job designing area. According to the author, improvements made in human factors and their performance are many times associated with organisational systems and procedures and to enhance overall job design, range of practices and focus on employee welfare shall be made. Training and appraisals have been recommended in this article to initiate redesigning of job and enhance the effects of it towards positive direction. This article shall be used in my next assessment in order to get superior work environment after making a thought out practise as mentioned in this paper. Theoretical perspectives mentioned relating employment practises will also give an additional benefit in the study. The research questions arrived and solved answers to it gives an outline to the received data and those which are practised in today’s manufacturing firms.

This article examines the job designing process in lean manufacturing units and yields to a finding in which positive and negative impacts on employees well being is demonstrated. Having knowledge of applying strategies in these types of manufacturing sectors is also necessary as lean manufacturing firms highly effects the motivational and objective reasons of employees in their work area. The basic purpose behind this article is to gather information about employees working under lean conditions and their work quality along with finding out demand of such job. The research methodology in this research paper gives an insight of relationship between manufacturing units and workers working under unbalanced condition of work. Many times workers feel unmotivated and exhausted since work flow is inconsistent and irregular. Job designing for such firms is challenging and to get most out of available resources becomes very difficult. Research methodology used in this paper has been presented in analytical way in which survey among employees have been made those working in lean manufacturing units. The studies presented in this research support the application of framework to elevate the motivational and potential growth among employees. In the end, this paper summarises all the important factors related and recommends HR managers to investigate work conditions before taking decisions regarding job.
In the study made which applies to public sector, the findings of the above article will help in my study made on job designing in manufacturing sector that possess lean working conditions. The role of HR practitioner’s here becomes vital as they require motivating the employees when there are times the company has to face lean seasons. For example in pharmaceutical companies, the production of few chemicals is done in a particular time of year. Also in garment manufacturing companies, manufacturing of certain type of garments may be demanded only for a limited time. Health and motivation of employees have been seen as a great issue in such kind of firms and thus managers of such firms requires making a system that can solve such issues. Therefore the above article can provide me with necessary guidelines where tactful decisions during lean manufacturing can be made. In this research, different methods explained along with models and thesis utilised can give additional information for designing job and recruiting employees in lean manufacturing unit
