Analysis based on the current situation related to social sustainability based regulations
The main element of case study is associated to the company named Timothy & Thomas that had faced immense issues related to the operations in different global locations. The major issues were thereby faced by the firm related to production of clothing built items in various factories. The most significant issue was thereby related to the usage of child labour by the organization in order to manufacture the clothing based items in an effective manner (Nichols, 1993). The CEO was however concerned about the ways by which the positive image of the company can be affected in an adverse manner due to the child labour based activities by the organization. The analysis in the report will thereby be based on the present condition which is evident in the regulations of different organizations operating in the developed countries. The effects of these regulations on third world countries is also an important part of the analysis (Tribe, 2018).
Social sustainability is mainly built on the methods by which the positive and the negative effects of processes of organizations on the environment can be managed. The quality based on the engagement of the company with stakeholders and the relationships of the organization is an important part of the social sustainability. The process based on the proper development of sustainable and ethical supply chain is an important part of the operations of different organizations (Abdelkafi & Täuscher, 2016).
The changes which can thereby take place in the priority based levels of the organizations can play a vital role in the ways by which organizations are able to operate. The activities related to outsourcing based activities of the companies which belong to developed countries are able to provide challenges to business based environment. The companies thereby need to set specific levels of standards in order to manage the outsourced labour in an effective way (Crane & Matten, 2016).
The social and the ethical responsibilities are being fulfilled by the US based organizations in an effective way. The operations and production based process have thereby been moved to emerging countries in order to develop the revenues and profitability. The company named Timothy and Thomas which has been considered in the case study is built on the ways by which child labour is used by the company for its operations in Asia. The organization had been able to develop a positive image in the US. However, the vice president was able to notice that the usage of child labour in its production process was quite disturbing in nature (Formentini & Taticchi, 2016).

The vice president was thereby highly concerned about the ways by which these activities can affect the operations and image of Timothy and Thomas in an adverse manner. Child labour has been considered to be an important issue which has taken place in the developing counties due to the outsourcing based activities of the organizations. The major issues are faced in the areas like, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The countries have been facing these issues due to the deficiency of proper supervision from the management of firms which operate in the developed countries (Klettner, Clarke & Boersma, 2014).
The US based organizations have however been able to maintain their successful operations with the help of proper supervision of the areas where the production is taking place. The wages which are thereby paid to these workers are quite low as compared to the amount of services which are provided by them and their children (Schaltegger, Hansen & Lüdeke-Freund, 2016). The issues related to social sustainability which are thereby faced by the developing countries have played an vital part in proper operations of the companies and factories. The principles based UN Global Compact have been able to play a main part in the proper growth of corporate sustainability based laws (Kolk, 2016).
The clothing manufacturing based companies which thereby have their origins in the US thereby need to consider the issues which can be faced by them if they are not social sustainable in nature. The growth of developing countries is largely based on the investments that are made by the organizations which have their origins in developed countries. The certification based solution which has been thereby provided to the organizations of developed countries need to be maintained so that they are able to operate in a sustainable and ethical way within the industry (Marshall et al., 2015).
The standards which have been developed by different organizations are however different from each other. The standards which are thereby developed by the different countries in different countries cannot be same. The possible solutions which are thereby provided to the organizations are also different from each other (Quarshie, Salmi & Leuschner, 2016). The contractors who are thereby present in the production related operations of Timothy and Thomas in the developing countries thereby need to be managed by the company with the help of its supervisors who are available in different locations. The competition that is faced by the global organizations in different areas of its operations are mainly based on the lack of proper supervision from the side of the company.
