Using the Hopson and Scally test, the following are my interest groups, they are ranked in the order I, E, A/O, A, S and P in a descending order.
My highest interest group I
My second interest group E
My third interest group is A/O
My top three groups of interest- from the above test by John Holland- are groups A/O at the top, group E falls in the second place and I in is the third. Group A people are inquisitive, thoughtful, autonomous, logical, sometimes eccentric and contemplative. These people also like to develop skills in math, biology and physical sciences. They also like scientific and curative jobs. Thinking type, using their mind and thought processes more than other things. They admire rationality, use intuition, and enjoy scholarly challenges. They are the people who solve problems by thinking. This groups make me to be best suited as medical practitioner.
The group E is the enterprising people who like leading and persuading people, are often determined, outward-bound, spirited, confident, autonomous, subtle and rational. They develop skills to lead, encourage, and influence people. They enjoy leading, administration, diversity, prestige, authority and money. They would solve problems by risking themselves and others. In the medical field, some decisions (Freshwater 2002).
The third group that I also find myself in is group I which is people who enjoy using their thought processes. They tend to be inquisitive, reflective require people who make prompt decisions, ready to handle risks and capable of making autonomous, scholarly, sometimes eccentric and contemplative decisions. They like to develop skills in math, biology and physical sciences. They like thinking through problems, trusting their own minds more than other people and things. They admire rationality, use intuition, and enjoy scholarly challenges. The people of this group solve problems by thinking.
My values include education, commitment, self-trust, independency, sensation, logic, following routine and honesty. All these factors combined make me best suited to take a career in the medical field.

The above values clearly show my most important values in the job environment of a nurse. The values of autonomy however might not be highly pronounced for a nurse. I will have to follow orders, routine, work with other co-workers as team and ready to develop others as I develop myself too. To meet these values, I will ensure that I have worked to my full potential, so that I get promotions and climb up the career ladder, and become a senior nurse or supervisor. In this position, I will be part of the team that makes decisions, dictates the routine to be followed by junior staff and at the same time be able to develop other nurses.
To successfully achieve the best career, one must combine both interest and abilities. The following is a table showing my most transferable skills. The most transferable skills are those that combine my ability and interests. Where abilities and interests are combined, then one has the potential of developing a long term career development strategy (Kuiper & Pesut 2004).
