The primary purpose or the objective of the authors in this article is to analyze the manner in which the four important functions of the contemporary HRM teams within the organizations related to the mining sector can be managed in an effective manner. In this regard, it needs to be said that the four most important functions of the HRs that the authors have selected are management of effective organizational culture, safety of the employees, job design and performance management. Thus, it can be said that the aim of the authors in this article is to formulate an effective framework through which these four functions can help the organizations to achieve their objectives or goals.
The authors for the effective completion of this article have taken the help of the past literature which have been written related to the themes of organizational culture, performance management, job design and occupational safety. In addition to this, the authors have also taken into consideration the annual reports of the organizations and the HRM strategies or policies that they follow for the management of human resources.
Albrecht et al. (2015) are of the viewpoint that within the last few decades the mining industry has emerged as one of the major ones of the world and contributes in a substantial manner towards the national economies of the different nations of the world. However, at the same time it is seen that one of the major challenges that the concerned industry is facing currently is the fact that the industry and the HRs related to the different organizations of this sector are not being able to manage the human resources that they have at their disposal in an effective manner. The authors thus argue that the HRs needs to formulae an effective framework which will support these four basic activities. This is important because of the fact that the performance of the employees depend greatly on these four functions of the HRs and thus it becomes even more important for these professionals to fulfill these job roles of theirs in an adequate manner.
The authors conclude by stating the fact that the HRs within the framework of the different organizations related to the mining sector can improve the performance of the workers by taking the help of a framework which will support the above mentioned four job roles of theirs.
The article is a credible one since it was published in the “Journal of Organizational Effectiveness: People and Performance” in 2015 and offers valuable information on the job roles of the HRs within the spectrum of the different mining organizations. Furthermore, it is seen that the authors argue in an objective as well as subjective manner regarding the effectiveness of these functions of the HRM teams and also the problems that the organizations are likely to face in case the HRs fail to perform these functions. The authors are of the viewpoint that this is one of the major functions of the HRs within the framework of the contemporary organizations related to the mining sector and thus they try to analyze the manner in which the construct of motivation can be used by the HRs to enhance the performance level of the workers.
The authors have followed the method of empirical research work and thereby gathered data or information required for the conduct of the research work from various kinds of primary as well as secondary sources. For example, the authors surveyed employees related to four mining organizations in the nation of Ghana and also interviewed the HRs related to these organizations.
Kuranchie-Mensah and Amponsah-Tawiah are of the viewpoint that because of the high element of risk which is involved in the work that the workers within the framework of the different organizations related to the mining sector are required to perform the HRs and also the management team of these organizations need to ensure the fact that the employees are highly motivated. Thus, they try to find out the manner in which the tool of performance management can be used by the different HRs for the effective enhancement of the performance of the workers.

Parida et al. for the collection of the relevant data or information related to the topic under discussion here have taken the help of the past literature which have been written by different scholars as well as researchers in the past. Furthermore, the authors have also taken into effective consideration the performance management frameworks used by contemporary mining organizations.
Parida et al. found that the effective usage of different kinds of performance management tools indeed helped the different mining organizations and also the HRs related to them to enhance the performance level of the workers. For example, they found that the contemporary organizations related to the mining sector took the help of different kinds of performance management tools like balanced scorecard (BSC), performance pyramid, performance prism, performance matrix and others not only for measuring the performance of the workers in an effective manner but at the same time for its enhancement as well. In addition to this, it is seen that the article under discussion is a peer-reviewed one, being published in “Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering” in 2015. Furthermore, Parida et al. reveal insight information regarding the manner in which the construct of performance management can be used by the different organizations related to the mining sector for the enhancement of employee performance. I personally believe that because of these aspects of the article it will serve as an important one for the completion of my Essay 3 assignment.
The primary aim of the authors Mahdevari, Shahriar and Esfahanipour in this article is to analyze the manner in which the HRs related to the different mining organizations can positively affect the performance of the workers through the mitigation of the various kinds of risks that these workers face. More importantly, the authors at the same time try to analyze the manner in which the number of occupational accidents and health hazards that the workers normally face in the different mining organizations can be reduced.
The authors collected data or information, which were needed for the completion of the research work from the employees of three coal mines, namely, Hashouni, Hojedk and Babnizu. Furthermore, the methods of surveys as well interviews were used for the collection of information relevant to the research work.
Mahdevari, Shahriar and Esfahanipour are of the viewpoint that there are more than 86 different occupational hazards that the workers related to the different mining organizations normally face like chemical, environmental and others. Furthermore, the authors found that these risks or occupational hazards that the workers in this sector are prone to not only affect the physical as well as mental wellbeing of the workers but at the same time had a profound impact on the job productivity of these workers as well. For example, it was found that the mines wherein the occupational hazards and also the health risks were more the job productivity of the workers declined whereas the ones with lower occupational hazards and risks had higher worker productivity. Thus, the HRs need to take the help of various measures which will reduce the occupational hazards faced by the workers and this in turn is likely to improve the job productivity of the workers.

More importantly, it is seen that the authors have objectively argued regarding the negative aspects of the occupational hazards that the workers commonly face in the mining sector and also the manner in which it affects the productivity of the workers. Furthermore, the authors at the same time articulate the manner in which the mitigation of the occupational hazards faced by the workers in the mining sector is likely to improve their job productivity. Thus, on the basis of these aspects of the article I am of the viewpoint that this will serve as an important reference for my Essay 3 assignment.
