Justification for the importance of the project
With the high level of advancement in technology use and the extensive use of the internet by a large number of people in carrying out different roles and activities, organizations have embraced the extensive use of the internet in helping customers access the services that they offer. A number of organizations utilize the internet to carry out many activities. The main ones include giving their customers and other stakeholders the opportunity to understand more about the organization and even convince them to make purchases of the services and products that it offers. Other ways that organizations use their website platforms is to obtain feedback on the services they offer customers and to make sales of their products and services. With this regard, customers are more likely to be more attracted and willing to use an organizational website platform when it is more attractive to them (Page, R. 2012). This paper assesses the design and form of the www.best-electronics-ca.com website and then provides important improvement recommendations that can help in improving this website.v
The project of assessing the Atari Best Electronics web page has the main aim is to establish positive changes that will help in improving the site, make it more attractive and help the visitors to be willing to view and easily understand what the website presents (Atari, 2017). Although an argument can be raised that the contents of the site are easily visible and any individual with the will to read and understand its content can easily read and understand it, it is definite that almost all websites have some room for improvement, an aspect that explains why certain website platforms have a large number of visitors while others have a significantly low number. From a simple look into the Atari Best Electronics website, an individual can notice a large number of mistakes made in the design and development of the website, an aspect that has made it not to look as attractive as it can with a few changes. It is also difficult for an individual to navigate through the website and identify an important content that is required (Burnett, W. & Evans, D. 2016).
In order to carry out the analysis and assessment of the website and present the possible recommendation on how to improve this website, the organization is required to pay a cost of 650 dollars in a day. This cost might seem high, but the benefits that will be obtained surpasses the cost by a large margin. To begin with, the organization will obtain an ideal design that should be utilized to create its website. Knowledge and information will also be provided on how to ensure that the website remains capable of maintaining effectiveness and attractive to all the visitors. The other aspect that will be addressed in the process is providing an effective means for which the website can regularly be updated depending on the changes that occur regarding the contents that it offers. In case the organization decides to offer a new product, for example, knowledge on how that knowledge will be added to the website without having to affect other aspects of the website like its attractiveness will also be provided (White, J. 2013).
Cost benefit analysis
As explained earlier, the website of Atari Best Electronics is an important platform that the organization utilizes in many activities including providing to its customer’s information on how it operates and the means through which its operations are appropriate and beneficial to them. With this understanding, it is significantly important to the organization for many people to visiting and read the information provided on the website. One important aspect to consider and understand, however, is the fact that people connect to the internet with a large number of places to visit. With this regard, therefore, they only visit the platforms that are highly attractive to them. Without establishing a highly attractive and easy to navigate website, therefore, the organizational website is at risk of not having as many visitors as it would aim to have (Pace, D. & Styles, J. 1972).
Navigation is simply how an individual can manage to move from one aspect of the site to another. From the Atari Best Electronics website, the information provided utilized a significantly large font, mostly so that the information provided can easily be visible to the visitors. There is, however, a major problem with this aspect. The use of the large font has increased the length of the website, thus making it necessary for any individual to scroll down for any information that he or she needs. Unlike other, well-organized websites, however, there is no specific page contains links that can take an individual down to a certain content that he or she requires access. This makes it extremely difficult for any individual who has the need to read about a single product or explanation on the site which is not provided on the top of the page. This navigation problem can be compared to the aspect of an individual who wants to read about a certain topic in a book when he or she does not know the page number and the book do not provide the table of content. The other aspect of navigation is the problem of not having a search bar, where an individual can search for content throughout the website. This problem makes it difficult for an individual to easily obtain a specific content from the website (Chak, A. 2003).
The ease of use aspect simply refers to the specific tools that can help an individual to obtain a certain information or content from the website. After making a general assessment of the website looking for tools that can help a visitor to easily obtain information from the website, I realized that the site has a major deficit of the tools. The tool lacks important links that take an individual to specific sections of the page content, and it also lacks a search bar. The information provided in it is visible, but the page also lacks links to help an individual scroll from one region to another easily. The lack of these tools makes it difficult for a visitor to obtain the specific information that he or she needs without having to scroll down and go through the whole site content.
Navigation Evaluation
In general, the level of attractiveness for this website is significantly low. To begin with, it is designed containing only a few number of colours in its writings. Its font does not change to increase the attractiveness of the site. The other major problem and reason why it is lowly attractive are the lack of utilization of division aspects like tables and lines to divide content into sections. This problem has made the site look like just writings which are not intended to look well organized for an individual to read them. The designs lack to utilize different font styles that can make the writing both visible and attractive (Duckett, J. 2011).
In order to ensure that the Atari Best Electronics website meets the required criteria through which it can be concluded as a good organization, the following goals and targets are important for it to consider.
- Attracting more than 500 visitors in a day.
- Having the visitors to spend more than three minutes on the site.
- Having positive reviews on the site from the visitors.
- Increasing the number of people that understand about the organization and the products that it offers.
- Ensuring that the web page remains attractive at all times.
- Any user can find the information needed within the first one minute after visiting the website
- Any individual can navigate effectively throughout the web page without having to spend the time to understand how to navigate.
- It is easy to communicate with the organization through the web page
- The web page provides a way of telling a person how to navigate through.
- All the tools and links on the site are effectively usable
With the goals, an evaluation of the site.
From these goals, the organization requires establishing important improvement strategies through which it will manage to improve its operations. The organization has not managed to meet any of the goals and thus it is important to make significant operational goals that will enable it to meet the goals provided (Kadavy, D. 2011).
The design of the website does not address a large number of human factor elements. To begin with, the site does not address the time factor. When an individual is looking for a certain section of information on the website, he or she would spend a lot of time before obtaining the information. With this regard, the time factor element has not been addressed. The other human factor that is not addressed on this website is the factor of easy navigation. The website is currently very difficult for an individual to navigate through. When one is looking for a certain information that is at the bottom of the site, links that can take him or her exactly to that location do not exist on the website. This aspect makes the site extremely difficult for an individual to navigate in it. Addressing these aspects about the website could help in making it’s extremely easy for its visitors to use it.
Details on how the site can be improved are significantly important to the organization. The first recommendation that I would make for improvement is to have the organization make the website more attractive by using another design on how it appears. I would recommend the use of a design that helps in partitioning different sections in the web page, in order to make the web page content easily visible, organized and more attractive. The other recommendation that I would make is the establishment of a page search tool, which can search through the website and provide information that is required. The search tool can help customers to reach their destinations more easily. The other recommendation that I would make is the establishment of a regular assessment of the website, in order to make updates of the available products and ensure that it remains as attractive as it is required (Larson, 2013.
