Importance of Security Mechanisms for Digital Technology Applications
In this new era of technology the world is getting more focused towards digitalization and with the excessive usage of the technology the rate of renewable and non renewable resource losses are also occurring diversely. Nowadays for daily usage people are dependent upon digital equipments such as Air conditioner, fan, television, light, generator, heater etc (Amadeo et al. 2015). In order to control the loss that may generate from the digital applications usage of proper security mechanism is very much important.
This report depicts the automatic turning off mechanism for 5 different digital equipments such as television, light, air conditioner, fan and heater. All of these equipments can be turned off automatically with the help of an advanced security mechanism which is known as Internet of Things (Smart home) application. The main focus of this paper is to examine the overlap of the national security, international relation as well as public safety for providing sensible and relevant solutions to challenges in the cyberspace. In order to develop such project a proper planning is required to be done by the researcher considering accurate research methodology. After identifying the background of the research topic the project objectives are created and elaborated in this report. From wide analysis it has been found that in coming years the usage of the internet of things will increase more than 50 percent that the current status. Again it will be able to comprise a market size of $1.7 trillion (Dorri et al. 2017). The performance of the power plants frequently changes with the automatic switch off of the digital equipments. Smart home mechanism offers possibilities for cost savings and energy savings.

The objectives of this project are as follows:
- To identify the extra expenses that are required for the application of digital appliances in daily lives
- To measure the usage of the resources needed for the equipments
- To develop an advanced mechanism that will lead to automatic turn off of theses equipments
Project deliverable
The deliverable of this particular project comprises of Internet of Things and Security mechanism in terms of smart home application to save power as well as cost of the digital equipments. After identifying the major objectives of the project appropriate secondary data will be collected through secondary survey. It is expected that, with the help of literature review the issues of with knowledge gaps and methodologies are also be delivered. In order to design the smart home mechanism for turning off the digital equipments a flow chart and a complete project plan will also be prepared and delivered in this report.
Automatic Turning Off Mechanism for 5 Digital Equipments using IoT
It has been found that the Internet of Things (IoT) is referred to as the next step for the evaluation of different components such as big data, wireless network, connected devices etc because the size of the sensors can shrink in size and also can migrate from the Smartphones to other daily objects. As the usage of technology is increasing everyday thus people are willing to reduce the excessive usage of energy and their usability at the same time. The most highlighted reason for this application comes from the electrical equipments use such as light, fan, air conditioner, heater, generators etc. Most of the times it is also found that, often these gadgets are left on whenever these are not even in use. There are many ways through which these wasteful habits can be prevented.
Considering the condition for lights
According to Chandramohan, et al. (2017), often the lights are left on even in the daylights when that is actually not needed. Again the electrical lights are most if the time remains on whenever not required such as when no one is there in the room. Considering the perspectives of the user’s waste of the electricity leads high amount electricity charge. Besides this, if the users have old incandescent bulbs then it produces high rate of heat which is not at all safe for the health of those who are living in the room. In case of these kinds of lights the percentage of generated heat is 90% and the rest of the 10% id light (Gram-Hanssen and Darby 2016). Thus, in summer season if these lights are left on then those will heat up the entire house. Again in order to reduce the heat percentage air conditioner will be needed. Thus, it will waste the total amount of energy and cist in two different ways. If each people become enough concern about their roles then n one need to worry about the energy wastage and cost expense. According to Han et al. (2017), people need to manage the operation of light only when required. Occupancy control is referred to as an approach that can partly control the usage of the electronic devices. It can be said that the automatic
Thus, proper arrangements of the product are also very much important from the developer’s point of view. It is necessary for the project developers to consider all necessary research strategies at the very initiation phase of project development.
Market Analysis of the IoT Technology
Similarly for the fans, air conditioner and heaters accurate strategies are also developed.
Overview of the existing knowledge and the identification of the gaps
The usage of smart technology is growing rapidly in every household for saving energy to get wasted. It can increase the awareness among the environment. However still some technical gaps are associated to it (Han et al. 2017). The first thing is security, if proper security terms are not adopted then, the credentials associated to technology can be interrupted. Again lack of index decomposition can also interrupt the automatic turn off for 5 digital equipments.
Overview of the existing methodologies and methods
In order to develop the project it is necessary for the researcher to follow certain accurate methodologies and method as well. Research methodology is consists of research philosophy, approach, design, data sources, data collection techniques and ethical consideration (Padgett 2016). The following are the methodologies should be followed for the successful completion of the research work.
Research philosophy
Three different types of research philosophy are there such as realism, interpretivism and positivism. For this particular research study the researcher have applied realism research approach as it helps to reveal and exploit all the research based hidden facts. Both the positivism and the interpretivism research philosophy are avoided in this research work as it deals with scientific data collected within an appropriate framework. In order to conduct the research work the application of modern data are very helpful that is possible with the help of the realism.
Research approach
Two different kinds of research approaches are there such as deductive and inductive. It is necessary for the researcher to choose the most suitable research approach among these two. Over the inductive approach the deductive approach is very helpful to conduct this research study, because it is developed based upon different former theories and it can also identify the research gaps and also can identify those (Ragin 2014). For this research literature is reviewed and analyzed professionally to identify the requirements and way to automatic turn off of 5 digital equipments such as Air conditioner, television, heather, light and fan. Within the research domain it can identify the design and modeling details.
There are two different kinds of method available such as primary and secondary. The primary data sources deals with survey and questions and on the other hand the secondary data deals with published study such as blogs, journals etc (Palinkas et al. 2015). For this particular research work the primary data collection method is completely avoided and secondary data collection method is adopted and analyzed accordingly.
Smart Home Mechanism for Saving Power and Cost of Digital Equipment
Again the data collection method is divided into two parts such as qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data are all about the quality f the information collected whereas the quantitative data are the total quantity of information collected from the secondary data collection. Considering the details of the topic it has been found that, for developing the automatic turn off of 5 digital equipments the project developer should consider both the qualitative and quantitative data. Thus in order to collect information from the sources, mixed data collection approach is selected.
Research design
Three different types of research design mechanisms are there such as descriptive, explanatory and exploratory design. It is necessary for the researchers to adopt the most suitable design approach (Mackey and Gass 2015). For this particular design the research is needed to adopt descriptive design approach as it deals with the research gaps and automatically fill the gaps. The Limitation of the research can also be identified with the help if these designs approach.
Ethical consideration
Proper ethical considerations are also required to be considered by the researchers while developing the research project. The information collected from the sources should not be revealed in front of any third party. Again another important thing that must be considered for the successful completion of the research are the honesty of the researchers.
For this particular project the main issues is lack of usage of technologies in the daily application of the digital equipments. Proper concentration and focus on the energy conservation may lead any daily using equipment towards big damage and extreme expense or cost. Whenever the equipments are found to be not in use that times the powers of those equipments are required to be saved and not to be wasted. Lack of monitoring specification is referred to as a major problem that may lead the business towards major loss.
On the other hand, energy resources such as petroleum, coal, natural gas, uranium, propane are the renewable resources as the suppliers of these sources are completely limited. In current days energy wastage has become a very common thing that must not be ever neglected. Wireless IR technology is very helpful from the managerial perspectives. Microcontrollers are to be designed in order to resolve the identified. Again wireless technologies are also to be designed accordingly to develop the automatic digital 5 equipments turn off.
The opportunities for the smart, connected hardware and software product are taking enormous and giant form. The development strategy must follow an accurate roadmap comprise of different operations such as automation, multi functionalities, adaptability, interactivity and efficiency.
Research Methodology for the Project Development
In order to develop an automatic turn off electronic equipments for the different advances strategies those are to be followed include:
Integrated wireless technology: In literature there are different studies on information and communication technologies available for the smart hoe and smart grid. Many wireless communication approaches are also available those are widely used for designing a smart home application. In case of automatic turn off of 5 digital equipments two different kinds of works are followed accordingly in terms of external work and internal work. The external network is comprises of satellite connection, Cable TV connection, internet main network etc and on the other hand the internal network is consists of network controller, HVAC system, Home appliance, security system, location and motion sensor.
Home energy management system: Due to the shortage of energy and its effects on environmental factors the home energy management system are required to be developed. It has been found that, the usage of the HEMS system is increasing extremely in the North American country. The future trend may be operated with the help of specific hourly rates and at the same time the real time pricing rate, block rates with critical peak pricing are also managed with the help of the home energy management system. This particular strategy allows increasing the savings of both the users and the utility providers. It can eventually include the local energy production from those resources which are renewable in nature. It can also decrease the rate of peak to average ratio and the peak loads.
Smart home micro computers: This strategy is very flexible and compatible in nature with different kinds of sensors. With the help of this strategy many interactive projects can also be developed accordingly. The target development process is very much cheap, flexible and also usable for the daily life applications. This particular plan is very robust in nature and it has also graphical and intuitive interface based programming capability through which a smart home can be developed very easily. This strategy is again compatible with many other smart technologies. The controlled applications that may be developed with the help of this application are user friendly in nature and can be easily controlled.
In order to develop the project on “automatic turn off of 5 electronic equipments such as Air conditioner, television, heater, fan, light “ proper hardware , software and other additional required resources are to be considered by the developers. For delivering intuitive smart home experience for the consumer’s robust system and embedded software are needed to be combined together. For reducing the overall rate of expense for the everyday digital usage and for conserving energy development of proper mechanism and selection of accurate resource are very much important.
