Overview of Security Services Limited (SSL)
There are many benefits of the information system in the security agencies working, as there are lots of documents and information about the security. In addition, a company has required a system to manage its large amount of data, which is highly sensitive and confidential (Bharadwaj, et al., 2013). An information system can manage large amounts of data of various business processes, which will help in decision making as well (Baars & Kemper, 2008).
In the present time, Security Services Limited (SSL) has used an older version of the information system, which cannot provide advance facilities to the company. Besides, it is necessary to synchronize all the processes in a proper manner. It can provide better results in the security of various divisions (Markgraf, 2018). SSL has worked from the last thirty years in the security industry and the company is holding a good position to provide private security services in the UK. The turnover of the company has increased every year. The company has provided security services to public sector as well as individuals.
The main services of the company were providing armoured transport for conveying substantial amounts of cheques and cash between banks, and businesses. The company has provided security guards to secure business premises. In addition, there are some important services of the company, which is the provision of domestic security services using security devices. The business information system is helpful for managing all the things in a proper manner (Chaffey, Dave & White, 2010).
Now, the company structure does not provide full security to the business processes in an efficient way. The company has established four divisions to manage all the services accordingly to geographical locations. These are the division of the company, which areas:
- Private Transport
- Business Security
- Domestic Security, and
- Home Office Services
All the divisions have specific work to manage the security of a particular client. PTD department has charged in two ways, which are contract sales and one-off sales. This division has used information systems section, which is a subpart of transport section. PDT division has used three personal computers to improve the basic services. The company should improve its information system to provide better results. The company has operated all the computer systems and networks without the help of an IT professional. It is necessary to hire some IT experts to secure the data and information of the company and their clients in the network as well as personal computer systems (Peng & Gala, 2014). In addition, there are many advantages of information systems to improve the data of the basic systems (Chen, 2010).
Divisional Structure of SSL
The company can use advance level on information systems, which are based on the cloud computing techniques. In the present era, Cloud –ERP systems are highly used to manage the various works in a company. Cloud-ERP is a centralized system, which has provided various security features to the corporation (Markgraf, 2018). There are various vendors in the market, which provide a cloud-ERP system for security, such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, and many others. Thus, there are various technical issues that will resolve by the cloud-ERP systems, such as sales, marketing, finance, and many others. IS has helpful in the security of the organization (Dhillon & Torkzadeh, 2006).
A digital business strategy is necessary for the management of various functions of the information system. It can improve the performance of the firm. The SSL should create security and privacy policies to secure all the things in the company. IS strategy has used for managing various critical issues in the company related to the information systems (Bharadwaj, et al., 2013). In addition, there are many other things to complete security systems policies. There are various types of the information system, which provides IS-functions according to the requirement (Guru99, 2018).
Moreover, the company can develop IS strategy to improve the basic things, which was used by the company in their divisions. The IS strategy will improve the basic processes of the corporation, such as sales, marketing, inventory, finance, purchasing, and many more (Moorty, 2017). It will improve the accuracy and efficiency of the IS functions in different divisions, such as DSD, PSD, HOSD, and BSD. In addition, IS provides different advantages to the corporation as well (Hevner & Chatterjee, 2010). In addition, the company has used a basic computer system, which can be a reason for data losses. Therefore, the SSL should replace older systems from new systems to secure the whole system from various threats and risks. There are some important factors of enterprise resource planning (ERP) for managing various business functions of the company (Stair & Reynolds, 2013).
The firm has started new security systems for police and another public department, which are highly sensitive. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the performance of the firm using ERP systems. It will improve the basic functions of the firm as well as provide various benefits to their clients as well. The corporation can use ERP to manage all the operations.
The company can use its present resources in the case of cloud-ERP. In addition, SSL can implement various business processes in a better way. The SSL has used their IT assets in the cloud-based system using their upgraded operating system and antivirus (Peng & Gala, 2014). IBM AS/400 minicomputer can be used for managing all the processes in different ways. The company should connect DSD with all the divisions of SSL. It will help in information sharing and other works. ERP systems are helpful and beneficial for the SSL to manage its resources and business processes. IS systems are beneficial for the various things in a company (INC, 2018).
Importance of Information Systems for SSL
In addition, there is some important factor in security, which is cybersecurity. It is necessary to improve the business functions security that is helpful in the security of all the information and routes. In addition, the Management Information System (MIS) provides various features to a company (Laudon, & Laudon, 2016). The SSL has used spreadsheet for managing their rosters and other works. In addition, there are some corporation processes to improve efficiency performance of sales, finance, marketing, and other functions of the SSL. In addition, there are many factors of the systems to improve the business growth of the company. In addition, IS-functions are helpful to synchronize all the processes of a company (Caniëls & Bakens, 2012).
Furthermore, IS systems are helpful in the implementation of other software and applications (Laudon, & Laudon, 2016). The firm will get better results and advantages in the future from the IS functions. It will help in the competitive advantages as well. Most of the companies have used IS for managing all the services in a proper manner. In addition, ERP systems will improve the business at the international level as well.
In the present time, the company has used the IS system at the PDT department, where an ex-policeman has managed all the processes of the PTD department. Moreover, it is necessary to provide better security for the various resource of the company. Moreover, there are many advanced systems to manage all the things in an efficient manner (Raymond & Bergeron, 2008). There are various things to notice about the basic services of the company. BSD has used IS functions to manage all the services in a proper manner. In addition, there are many technical issues in the corporation processes because of many things. It is necessary to change the main processes using project management (Caniëls & Bakens, 2012).
Sales, marketing, finance, and purchasing sections have managed by a graduate person in business computing (Seethamraju, 2015). DSD department has not used any IS function in their business processes. The HOSD has used IBM AS/400 minicomputer to manage various functions, which are financial ledgers, costing software, budgeting, rostering, routing, and many others. In addition, there are various works, which have completed over a WAN. The HOSD has managed all the services by the programmer, analyst, and IT expertise. Moreover, security is another challenge in front of various organizations (Bélanger & Crossler, 2011).
In addition, the SSL can use cloud-based services to manage all the divisions using proper networks. Besides, security and privacy issues will arise because of data and information systems. Moreover, there are some basic business processes of the SSL, which can be managed by the IS functions (Stair & Reynolds, 2013). As an example, SAP can provide a proper solution to manage all the things in an efficient manner. Furthermore, there are many other options. In addition, SSL has used the basic functions of IS, which is helpful for the management of various operations of the systems. In addition, there are many other benefits of an information system (Braglia & Frosolini, 2014)
Advantages of Advanced Information Systems for SSL
There are some basic functions of the security systems of a company, which are necessary to improve the main functions of the SSL. Moreover, the firm can include international frameworks to manage security and privacy of the data and processes of the company (pressbooks.com, 2019). It will improve the security of the data and it will provide better performance to the business processes of the company. There are many other benefits of digital strategies to improve the use of business processes and other things (Bharadwaj, et al., 2013).
The company must installed the Information system at the headquarter of the SSL, which will more secure from different processes. In addition, cloud-based services are available anywhere and anytime. The company should improve the basic manual processes from IS functions. It will improve their performance. IS system is helpful in data analytics as well, which is helpful in the business growth and decision-making process. Moreover, the firm can improve the main functions of all the divisions and it is necessary to improve quantity and quality of IT professionals to manage all the system processes in an efficient way. It will improve the revenue and profit of the SSL in the next few years.
Furthermore, IS systems are beneficial from various points of view for the company. However, there is some security, privacy, and cost issues related to ERP systems. Therefore, the company should use its information assets to overcome cost and increase the accuracy and performance of the firm as well as their employees. In addition, the traits can improve the knowledge of its employees using training about the IS systems and its functions. It will help in managing various functions of the firm as well, such as CRM, HRM, SCM, and many others.
Information Systems is a key to success for a company, as it is useful for managing all the things in a proper manner. In addition, there are many benefits of basic computer systems and IS to manage different functions in a proper way. SSL should implement advanced technologies to manage various challenges in the future. It will be beneficial for the company as well as their stakeholders.
