The major work is done by the computer and a control center which converts data input to output information, which is known as central processing unit. The central processing unit is highly complex and sensitive which controls the whole systems. It consists of extensive set of electronic circuit which executes stored program instructions. All types of computer consist of central processing unit. The control unit and the arithmetic logic unit are the two types of major unit. And the primary storage and the secondary storage are the two storages.
By referring to the both instruction and data the central processing unit interacts with the primary storage and the main memory. Due to this reason reading will be discussed for both the instruction. The memory unit is not actually part of the computer it holds a temporary memory at the run time of the computer. The permanent and the semi-permanent data is hold by secondary storage on some external magnetic or optical medium. The CD-ROM disks which are attached with the personal computers are secondary storage devices. The physical attributes of the secondary storage devices where the data is organized on them.
The performance of the computer is defined by the amount of work accomplished by the computer. A high-performance computer has the following qualities [1].
- short response time, data transmission time.

- high availability, bandwidth.

Register is one of the high-speed memory space in CPU. It stores the instructions and data which is currently processed by the CPU. The size of the register is also called as word size. It denotes the amount of data, that the computer can process in a given time. If the word size is bigger, the data processing time will be less [2]. The current input is copied in the rising edge of the clock input into the flip flop. There is also an equivalent version of D flip flop which switches on the falling edge of the clock signal. Instead of hollow one it is replaced with the clock arrow. The master slave combination is used for the D-flip flop in series for two RS flip flop in series. The reset signals are triggered by the opposite clock levels. The transition from the level-triggered latches to edge-triggered flip flop is done by interlocking design by accomplishes. The important to remember the characteristics of the register is the actual implementation.
Factors that Affect the Performance of a Computer
The path between the components of the computer is called as bus. Computer has two types of buses.
Internal bus is located in the motherboard and it is used to connect the CPU with other devices which are located in the mother board.
External bus is used to connect the external devices of the computer such as keyboard, mouse, printer, modem, etc.
Transferring the data between RAM and CPU register is one of the time-consuming operations and it requires more time because the RAM is slower than CPU. To solve this problem cache memory is used. Cache memory is one of the fast memory which contains the most recently used instructions and data. . The cache memory is similar to the virtual memory which is a part of low speed memory stored in the duplicate in the higher speed of cache memory. The request is first presented to the cache memory when the memory is requested. If there is no response the requested is forwarded to the main memory. The difference between cache memory and the virtual memory are the matter of implementation where the two notations are conceptually same because the correlation properties observed in sequence of response observed.
The computing power of the system is based on the amount of RAM. If the amount of RAM is higher, the computer can use large and powerful programs and it can access large data files. More amount of RAM can make the computer to work faster [4].
The computer system clock is used to pace the CPU by using the quartz crystal. This clock cycle is measured in Hz. the operating speed of the computer is depending on the clock speed. If the speed of the PC is faster, then the instructions processing time is less. This clock speed has great impact in the performance of the computer.
The speed of the hard disk is based on the read and written speed of the content and material. The speed of the hard disk varies based on the manufacturer, type of driver and hard disk usage. If the speed of the hard disk is higher than the performance of the computer also high and if the hard disk speed is low then it will reduce the performance of the computer also.
The performance of the computer is also based on the size and space available in the hard disk. If the hard disk space is higher, then the performance of the computer will be faster. If the hard disk space is small then the computer will have slower performance speed.
The Importance of Register in Computer Performance
Hard drive is one of the computer device which is used to store the software’s which are installed on the computer. It also stores the data files which are created by the software. This data files also includes the documents which are downloaded or created like music and photos. This hard drive is in the form of permanent storage. It means the files which are stored in the computer can be accessed next time when we start the computer. The capacity of the hard disk determines the storage capacity of the product such as Laptop or Computer. If the product has low storage space, it will be filled faster. If the storage space is large, it will store lots of files. The selection of the hard drive is based on the circumstance and opinion.
Hard disk can be categorized into four types. They are listed below.
- PATA- Parallel Advanced technology Attachment

- SSD- Solid State Drives
- SCSI- Small Computer system Interface
It is a first type in hard drive. The Parallel ATA interface is used to connect the Computers. This type of device is also called as Integrated Drive Electronic. This drive in introduced in 1986 by Western Digital back. It uses common drive interface technology to connect the hard drive other devices with computer. It provides 133MB/s data transfer rate and connects maximum 2 devices can be connected with the channel. Hence totally 4 EIDE devices can be connected with the internal part of the computer. To transfer the multiple bits of data simultaneously, it uses 40 or 80 wire ribbon cables. This hard drive uses magnetism to store the data. The internal structure of the hard disk is made up of moving parts.
This hard disk replaces the PATA drives which are used in the laptops and computers. The only difference between the PATA and Serial ATA hard disk is the interface. But the connecting method of this hard disk is same. The advanced features of this SATA hard disk are listed below.
- This drive uses Serial signaling technology for faster data transfer.
- The SATA cables are more flexible and thinner than PATA cable.
- The limit of the cable is 1 meter and it has 7 pins.
- This disk will not share the bandwidth, because only one connection is shared between the SATA controller and motherboard of the computer.
- It consumes only 250mV power which is less while comparing with PATA which consumes 5V.
This solid state drives are working in latest technology. When comparing with the other drives, it is totally different and it doesn’t have any moving parts. It doesn’t use magnetism to store the data. Instead of this they are using flash memory technology. It also uses semiconductor devices or integrated circuits to store the data permanently. These locations are mapped by LBA (Logical Block Address) which is used for the large address range of the hard disk.
