The analysis is conducted from the personal presence analysis on the search engines and the digital branding platforms
From the personal presence analysis, my strengths are Clever, Personate, Hardworking, Organized, Innovative and creative. From the content found on the digital branding sites, it shows my commitment to accounting and my desire to work for an account firm. The high degree of how accessible the information I posted on social media platforms can be reached ( Wetsch, 2017). My LinkedIn profile is well connected and can be accessed easily
I have the weaknesses stated as distance from job and the lack of experience with working with an accounting firm or in senior accounting positions. Considering the fact that this s a fresh profile since I am yet to graduate , I believe that by the time of my graduation, I will be having the relevant experience in accounting through internships. I also lack enough connections especially on twitter and Google plus.
There are many opportunities to expand the personal brand online. By linking up the profiles and creating other digital marketing and branding profiles on Instagram, YouTube, and Pintrest. My passion for innovativeness and the fact that I work well under pressure is an opportunity that I can exploit.
The threats present from the assessment are;
Online security is the main threat to my branding. There are many other stalkers who have access to the private information that I have recorded on the social media platforms. Lack of direct experience is also a likely threat to self-marketing (Elmore, 2013
My strength is that I have very good business connections and am attracted by business events advertised on the social media, and also express my confidence through the various posts.
I am a great critique on what people post. Out of excitement, some of the opinions I make are a bad impression. Some of the content that I record on the social media is irrelevant to the potential employers
There is room for improvement and adjusting to match what potential employees want by following their briefing and reading through shared content on their sites.
I realize it is hard for an employer to judge from merely going through a personal profile or a post on digital branding platform. The information may be inaccurate
The two social media sites I selected for my profile are Facebook and LinkedIn. These new sites are
- Facebook has customizable privacy and connects with friends and potential employers. It is a public domain and employers can check on the Facebook profile and see the content that I share. Facebook profile also has my profile picture and the contacts and friends are able to see the face of the person they are chatting or stalking on. The information I share on my profile include the University of Study, area where I currently live, my age and my friends. The potential employer is also able to view what content I post on my timeline and my comments and the paged that I have liked.
LinkedIn is a remarkable professional platform for showing an expertise skills as well as knowledge. It is a resource that links recruitment candidates and connects the profiles to professionals. (McCorkle & McCorkle, 2012). It is a good forum for job seekers and networking events and job fairs. It enables me to control my expertise identity, develop and participate in professional connecting and get opportunities, insights, and knowledge. It is significant to keep your resume virtually that showcases their skills and abilities. On the linked in profile, it displays the skills that I have acquired. My connections are also able to endorse me with skills and even references to potential employers. On LinkedIn, I am also able to post my resume for the potential employers to view it. The profile has an up to date, personality history, accurate academic, and professional photo that have highlights of personal accomplishments. With LinkedIn, it is easier for the search engine and potential recruiters to find the profile using the key words on the profile.
Part2: Self-Analysis
When using the social media platforms to build a personal brand, it is important to filter out who is viewing the profile. In some of the social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, personal information can be accessed. This is important for students to filter contact and reconsider their privacy policy to have control over who access what they post on their timelines. Twitter is a public site, and anyone who has access to a personal profile and tweet can read what one tweets. I recommend that as a student, information provided on every profile on either social media platform as a way of branding should be up to date. Content should always remain easily accessible and relevant as a way of maintaining the authenticity of the brand. Professional profiles need to be filled up appropriately and the security customs be configured to ensure that particular individuals are not able to access their profiles.
Conclusion
The development of personal brands is an ongoing process and involves interactions with other people in face to face communication and online communication (Shah, 2012). It is also considerate to admonisher one’s individual profile. Information displayed on the online and social media is very vital and gives first impression and brand perception to the viewers. Students and Job seekers should benefit from the various social media platforms to exhibit and monitor individual brands. According to the Academy of marketing science, & Kubacki, (2014), creating a professional digital brand is an ongoing process and having a professional online presence presents one with an avenue of reaching prospect employers through interaction. Students are advised to keep their expertise photos as well as write in a professional way and continue updating their status always (Schwabel, 2014). As a student, using twitter and Facebook for personal branding has relative implications. The user should understand who the audience he/she is addressing in each address (Tufecki, 2012). The twitter handle domain should reflect the surname and be found easily during searches (Claucherty, 2013). Uploading media with the right content to the social media platforms will also increase the traffic to the sites. I can also link up the different profiles on twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, pintrest and Google to increase the chances of being spotted by the potential employers.
