From the case study it is analyzed that, Wipro technologies has the main aim in context to the HR service is to improve the services of employees and managers by aligning the services or activities with the business strategies and attracting and retaining the employees to support the business. The company faced a problem of low performance and high employee turnover issues in the organization because of which reason the company wants to handle these issues by adopting some strategies. The company has the opportunity to build the self service strategy and Implement the ERP at the organization in order to solve the problems.
Problem and opportunity analysis
Employee satisfaction is the most important part of the organization in order to increase the productivity as well as to improve the performance of the organization. Wipro also analyzed that it is very essential to understand the needs and the wants of the customers in order to achieve the organizational goals. However, meeting the needs of the employees results into the employee satisfaction. The company will face problems such as low performance, poor working environment, social conflicts and high employee turnover rates, if the employees will not be satisfied in the organization. The case study shows that the Wipro also analyzed the ways how to handle these problems (Morales, 2016).
To obtain the strategy, the company used the avenue which was a strategy labeled channel (W). Before using this channel, company has done the research to understand the employee’s needs and demands. The research results into identification of two different patterns for the flow of the information in the organization. These two different patterns established a bonding atmosphere and help the organization in building the strong relationship with the company as well as encourage building positive atmosphere for the employees.
Coming to the opportunities, then the company has the option to introduce the new enterprise system in the organization in order to manage the performance of the employees and to retain the employees for longer period of time. If the problems faced by the company are resolved on time, then the company can achieve its organizational goals and objectives very easily and will have the opportunity to expand the business in foreign countries. Employees are the most valuable asset for every company that participates towards the achievement of the goals of the Wipro technologies (Pollock, 2011).
Strategic planning is very much required to keep in mind all the external and internal factors. The most powerful tool that can be used by employers is to keep the workers engaged and offer rewards for the accuracy of the work. The performance of the line managers as well as the employees should be analyzed and HR professionals should take steps according to the performance not according to the position.
After analyzing the problem and opportunities for the company, Wipro obtained a solution with the help of channel (W) that looks like a television desktop program for the employees in order to find some personal and organizational programs on the intranet of the company. The solution obtained through the channel (W) has the two main drivers which are employee office and the bonding atmosphere. These strategies are important in order to free up time for the employees and listen about their issues and desires carefully in order to understand their needs. Therefore, in the present era, devoting some time to the employees is the most important part and valuable resources for the business. To implement this solution in the organization, it is very important to analyze the nature of the enterprise system and bring some changes as per the requirements. Wipro needs an ERP service design in the organizations for the implementation of the drivers or solutions (Goddard, 2015).
Nature of the enterprise systems
Company adopted the ERP self service design in order to implement the strategy. According to this new enterprise design, employees will able to access the information more easily. The main objectives identified by the Wipro or that this new enterprise design will reduce the administrative cost of the company and eliminate all the process steps, approvals and forms by enabling strategic HR in the organization. The most important objective is the reason behind to implement this enterprise design is that it will help to improve the services to employees and managers. Talking about the technical part of the solution, then Wipro Software Solution was web based HTML, JSPs, Oracle 8i, JavaScript and Netscape enterprise server 4.0 (Seo, 2013)
Therefore, with the help of this enterprise system, the company will able to manage the performance of all the employees and managers and reduce the administrative cost of the company also. Service design strategy is the most valuable strategy used by organization as a human source technology which enables the employees to perform all their responsibilities and duties related to the job. The job related functions of human resource includes reimbursement accessing the personal information of the employees, together the information letter to company management and management of the performance of all the administrative staff. Employee self service is available through the intranet platform of the Wipro company. This employee self service strategy is the greater part of the ERP software that helps in managing the HR activities of Wipro company. The process of implementation of enterprise is very simple and the need to implement enterprise system arises because of the channel (W) solutions which are web based (TEAM Software, Inc., 2012).
The process of implementing the self service design in ERP software involves some of the mandatory settings. First of all, Wipro company assign the appropriate roles to the users such as approver, employee and administrator for the self service procurement in SAP ERP. After that company can connect both the external internet catalogues as well as the internal catalogues in order to configure the approval process by defining the different values of the items. In the end Wipro company set parameters in the user profile where the enter plan cost centre to control the work as well as cost of the company (Olson, et al., 2005).
Moving further, there are many benefits as well as challenges faced by the employees in order to implement the HR self service software in the organization. Some of the challenges faced by the company are related to the inadequate training, time consuming data entry, lack of support etc. Some of the common difficulties that faced by Wipro Technologies are going to be explained in this part. From the analysis of case study, it is observed that company found some difficulty during the ERP integrations, setting of ERP software implementation goals, customization and flexibility challenges of ERP software. It is analyzed by Wipro Company that before implementing the w channel strategy, a company needs ERP based enterprise system (Soliman & Karia, 2016)
- ERP integration
First challenge with implementing the self service design strategy solution is that organization need to understand the processes or system that should be integrated before implementing that channel (W) solution. However, it is quite difficult to integrate systems in an organization because it may result into the disturbance in the workflow of the organization. To implement this solution in the organization, it is very important to analyze the nature of the enterprise system and bring some changes as per the requirements. Wipro needs an ERP service design in the organizations for the implementation of the drivers or solutions.
- Setting ERP software implementation goals
Another challenge or difficulties faced by the Wipro Technology is related to the setting up of goals ERP implementation. ERP software implementation is useless without any goal or objective and it can lead even more difficulties in the organization. So it is important that Wipro company should set the goals before implementing the new enterprise system as well as before setting up of a channel (W) solutions strategy. The employee centricity has although moved the market in a positive direction, but it has increased the pressure on the IT company to provide the service as per the rising customer expectations. The competition in the outsourcing and information technology industry has risen to an extent that the industry has witnessed some major sell out and bankruptcies (Mishra & Mishra, 2011).
- Inadequate training
It is also found that training is playing a very important role during the implementation of any strategy. For the successful implementation of these self service design strategy to give a proper training to the staff, Human Resource Department and the managers of the company. All the employees should have a full knowledge about this new strategy in order to take the benefits from this solution. Wipro Company may face difficulties after the implementation of solution if they have not given a proper training to their employees (Wipro Ltd., 2016).
- Flexibility challenges
The flexibility in the ERP software is also a difficulty for Wipro Technology. ERP systems which are not flexible in nature influence the organization to change the business processes in order to fit into the ERP system order. They are struggling to keep up with the changing technology trends and the technological landscape. The expectations of employees and the constant changes in them are another cause of concern for the IT.
Some of the benefits implementing the self-service design software are given as below:
- Management of the performance of the employees as well as managers
- Ability to make changes in the plans of the company, for example, changing the employee contribution, changes in the reward plans or changes in the payment Investment plans
- Organization will have the ability to configure the payroll of the employees.
- With the help of these software’s Wipro organization can provide bonding atmosphere where the people feel comfortable in the organization and satisfied and contributes towards the high level of performance in order to achieve the organizational goals and objectives (Premji, 2009).
Implementation of the strategy is the generally considered as the most difficult process because it requires a lot of attention of the people and knowledge. Implementing a self service based strategy at Wipro has a great impact on the overall performance of organization because of the change in the system of enterprise through the API implementation. Instead of this, every implementation of ERP either in university in banks or any other sector, it’s very difficult and challenging. uccessful implementation of the Strategies and ERP software in the organization is become norm and it’s not an exception (Morales, 2016).
The channel (W) self service design strategy is found to be successful because of the various success factors. Some of the critical success factors that has been analyzed through the case study includes collaboration among the HR and it departments and appropriate budgeting and funding for the implementation of this self service design strategy. According to the Wipro Technology Company, another success factor for the implementation of the strategy is the strategic plan made by the high level executives who give priority to the different kind of applications. Communication between the marketing people and the employees of the company will generate better outcomes for the company. With the help of this strategy employees can access the information anytime but any place which is the most critical success factor for the company. Except all these factors, implementation of solution is successful because of the high quality design of the process, consistent look and monitoring and interface across media (Council, 2012).
As we know that the employees are the asset to the company and it is very important to value the workers, but also the HR professionals should plan and prepare for the exit from the workforce. It is the responsibility of the HR professionals of the Wipro Technologies needs to conduct some strategic workforce analysis to measure the loss of experienced talent in the coming years (Wipro Technologies, 2012).
Conclusion
From the case study it is analyzed that, Wipro technologies has the main aim in context to the HR service is to improve the services of employees and managers by aligning the services or activities with the business strategies and attracting and retaining the employees to support the business. Employee satisfaction is the most important part of the organization in order to increase the productivity as well as to improve the performance of the organization. The company delivers the solutions to their clients with regard to the new technologies to enable the clients to make their business much better in the future. If the problems faced by the company are resolved on time, then the company can achieve its organizational goals and objectives very easily and will have the opportunity to expand the business in foreign countries.
