The importance of career in life
Globalization has had a significant impact in everyone’s life. The last few decades of globalization has led to the development of a number of different opportunities that have been important for the development of professional career. Career is no doubt the most important aspect of our life. A career can be said to be something that helps people to stay in the same kind of work. I believe career can be said to be one job or many jobs which is something related to working for one or many companies (Choudhary 2019). This particular aspect can be called as a career path. Career for me includes my education, training, work experience and other qualifications that I have been able to achieve till now. It seems quite easy to define career, but in reality career success is something that can be a dream. There is a huge difference in between accomplishment and success. I have experienced many people define career success by means of their professional and educational achievements, securing high-profile jobs, gaining strong credentials to success and many more as such. However, this is not what career success is. According to me career success can be defined as the combination of achievement of a reasonable level of financial stability while also equally enjoying the work process. It is important for the management to develop success accordingly in order to develop success in the most effective process. Thus I believe career is one of the most important aspect in life that can determine the life of a person. In the following report I have presented my own career ambitions by presenting the opportunity that I have gained in accordance to the development of success in the most effective process. My chosen sector is the hospitality industry and I have provided the different aspects related to my internship in the following sector.
The chosen industry here has been the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is one of the most important industry in the modern day competitive business sector. Hospitality industry being the primary service industry has an important role to play to deliver effective and quality service to the individuals in the most effective and professional process. The report here has identified the hotel sector in the hospitality industry. The selection of the hotel sector is quite suitable to develop a proper and effective idea regarding the industry.
I have always dreamt of working in hospitality industry. Albert Einstein said, “Creativity is Intelligence having fun”. I believe the hospitality management job offers with great and creative challenges that are packed with a strong dose of fun and enjoyment. I have observed that in the recent times, the hospitality industry has grown in leaps and bounds and such a strong development has opened up scope for better career prospects for the industry. To me the best entry level jobs in the hotel industry are;
- Front Desk clerical jobs- Front Desk clerical jobs are always appealing as they help me to deveop the much necessary skills that are important for my communication skills. As a front desk clerk needs to interact with the customers round the clock, therefore I believe it will be great for me to develop myself in an innovative and organized process.
- Assistant Floor Managers- Assistant floor managers is another job that can be beneficial for my career success. In such a job I would get an idea of managing floors from my supervisor and would be able to gain an insight into the different forms of challenges that can disrupt my skills. Overcoming these challenges and achieving the targets can be my greatest opportunity.
- Hotel room attendants- Though something totally different from the traditional jobs in hotels, there has been a continuous rise in demand for hotel room attendants. I believe the job of a room attendant is the best entry level job that can be beneficial for me to gain extensive experience. Such a job can help me to learn the skills required for maintaining rooms and accordingly develop communication skills. Apart from this, I would also be able to garner huge experience of dealing with customers which will certainly help me to develop my career in the most efficient process.
Each and every single job involves a coordination of the employers and the employees to develop a successful venture. Similar to all industries, the employers of the hotel industry has a strong expectation from the employees. For example, the basic expectations include a strong and effective personality and presentation capability. Apart from this the presence of a strong and effective communication skills and capability to be polite is important for the employees. Thus such a process can ensure success in the most professional manner.
Selected Sector: The Hospitality Industry
Some of the major professional advantages of working in the hotel industry are as follows;
- Development of effective social and communication skills- One of the basic and perhaps the most important advantage of working in the hotel industry is the development and presentation of effective social and communication skills. Speaking with different people and developing ideas can help change the communication skills and develop strong success in the most efficient manner.
- Freedom and mobility- A hotel employee enjoys great deal of freedom and mobility as such a job involves reduced travel prices, less room rates, great networking opportunities and enjoying unlimited tips and bonuses which are factors that helps to develop better freedom and mobility.
- Interaction with different people- Interacting with different people is an important advantage for the people. It helps to interact with a large number of different people from different cultures and different sectors of the society. Such a process is thus definitely a great advantage for the people working in hotels.
There are different challenges of working in a hotel industry. The vastness and the cultural diversity practiced in hotel makes it quite tough for new employees or interns to suit to their roles and responsibilities in a professional process (Deeb et al. 2020) The different challenges of working in the hotel industry are as follows;
- Housekeeping issues
- Changes in guest expectations
- Data Security issues
Housekeeping issues are one of the many issues that is a challenge for the industry. I believe maintenance of proper housekeeping can lead to extensive loss of the industry. For example, broken lights, damp patches, extensive use of different items absence of proper care by the residents of the rooms makes it quite challenge for interns like me to manage the total process in a skilled manner. Thus it will take some time to develop the much needed skill to address the challenges efficiently.
Changes in the expectations of the guests is one of the most important challenges. The presence of different customers with different expectations will surely make it hard for an intern like me to address the demands of the customers accordingly. While one person may favour pink linens, the other one may like to get white linens. Thus such a process clearly outlines the importance of developing the necessary skills that can help me to develop a proper and effective strategy needed for success.
Data Security issues is another major challenge that can have a strong impact on an intern like me. With little or no idea in data management, it will be quite tough for me to manage the development of data security management process. Personal data can be the most vulnerable working in hotels because of the diverse work culture. Therefore, data security stands out to be a major challenge for me to develop my aspirations as a future employee of the hotel.
A detailed search internship plan can be important for success as such a process can help me to gain an idea of the internship details. The details of the internship process has been provided below;
