The purpose of the topic is to address the problems and challenges faced by the humanitarian logistics. Humanitarian logistics are regarded as the help provided to the people who suffered from the effects of the disaster like natural disaster or war torn disasters. The humanitarian logistics provide help to the people by serving them with the requirements and help they need after the disaster took place. However, the logistic team faces immense challenges while working in the disaster stricken field. The topic exposes the different ways in which the humanitarian logistics suffer the challenges and the ways they confront them diplomatically.
After understanding the arrival of the Cyclone over the Asia-pacific region, it is important to pre position stocks in the war houses in a number of geographical areas such as Thailand, Vietnam , Cambodia and in many other countries. However, the countries where the stock would be stored are having humid climates. Therefore , accordingly it is important to meet the challenges and work on them.
The planning and layout of the Warehouse: The planning and lay out of the warehouse has to be efficient enough to occupy the process of fulfillment. The small room where the items would be stored can anyway affect the efficiency of the process. The packing station has to be logical enough (Myerson, 2012; Faber et al., 2013). The packing station has to be kept in such a place where the picking must take place easily.
Checks of Safety and reviews: It is important to ensure about the safety standards of the baseline. While taking into consideration about the safety, the safety codes should be handled with regularity and clarity. The countries where it would be stored are humid in nature, the food stocks might get spoilt, and therefore, safety about the food stock is necessary (Richards, 2014; Faber et al., 2013). It is important to make sure the type of food needs to be stored which could sustain the environment for a longer period of time. In that case, glucose and bread are the best options and these can be stored for a longer period of time.
Prevention of the human errors: The installation of the properly trained staffs in order to make sure that the running of the warehouses is done smoothly (Richards, 2014; Faber et al., 2013). The objectives could be failing to meet the challenges of the errors caused by the human. The warehouse should run smoothly and systematically in order to make sure that the human errors do not take place frequently.
Safety Checks and Reviews
Picking the best optimization: Warehouses that contains manual processes in place, there is no common route to take the items in order to ship them. This needs unnecessary time to get processed (Richards, 2014; Faber et al., 2013). The implementation of the system is directed in such a way that the routing is automatically done which tends to reduce the wear and tear of the equipment and the labor force which are required during optimization. However, the quick supply chain is important and this is the reason the warehouses are turning into automation in order to carry out greater operations smoothly.
Best quality: The control of the quality not only includes investigation of the issues of product but also includes a good level of organization in the area of verification. At times the challenges come that the packagers lack time to double check the materials to catch the damages. In this regard, quality control is necessary for the reputation of the warehouses (Myerson, 2012; Grant, 2012).
Therefore, these are the important aspects and challenges which are needed to meet while managing the warehouses. The meeting of the challenges needs to be smart enough to sustain the stocks inside the warehouses.
The challenges foresee more humanitarian aid organizations who all are engaged in competitions in order to get their emergency supplies out of airport, which was closer to get damaged due to tsunami. In this situation the problems arose and these problems are to be mitigated accordingly.
It is important to take into account the key stakeholders who would help the organization to coordinate in order to take out the emergency supplies. The key stake holders are the government who is regarded as the activator of the humanitarian logistic as they have the ability to sanction operations and assemble resources (Cozzolini, 2012). The military is also one of the key coordinators who provide important assistance in order to get the supplies properly from the airport. The volunteers or the field staffs are also the important key stake holders of the organization who would perform better in order to transport, store, and handle goods.
The challenges that are faced in this crucial condition are mobilizing the important stake holders to take out the emergency supplies properly. The number of aid organizations is more in number, even they need help from their key stake holders. Therefore, in this situation, it is also important to get help from the number of stake holders (Cozzolini, 2012). At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the proper supply of goods in the right condition. A share transport is needed to coordinate in order to move the goods in the congested environment. Even the challenges include the delayed response from the government in order to mobilize resources (Christopher & Tatham, 2014). It becomes difficult in this situation to supply the number of goods faster to the highest number of beneficiaries. After the disaster, it also becomes a challenge to contact people who can help to take out the supplies properly. The adverse effect of technology causes a vital problem in this matter to contact the field staffs and stakeholders to help the organization in this adverse situation.
Prevention of Human Errors
Challenges could be mitigated with the proper implementation of the mitigating program. The response and the reconstructions are the vital challenges that the human logistics face while carrying out the operation. The response includes operations that should be implemented after the disaster (Christopher & Tatham, 2014). The response takes place through the activation of the silent network which should be restored properly by supplying goods to a number of people affected by the disaster. At the same time, the proper supply of goods in a good condition, the road transportation is required to move the bulk commodities to the places. To make it happen, the government needs to take proper steps in order to mobilize resources (Bolsche, Klump & Abidi, 2013). Availability of technology also causes problems after the disaster took place in the area (Leiras et al., 2014). After analyzing the problem, the technological usage should be made ready before the possibility of the disaster happens.
Accordingly, challenges are needed to be faced and a proper solution should be brought in order to tackle the challenges to meet the objectives of the organization.
Some of the major factors are to be taken into consideration regarding the main concerns while planning the aid distribution of the agency of the company. At the same time, it is also important to take proper care of the staff workers from any attacks. At the same time the organization needs to ensure whether the items of relief is delivered to the village population or not.(Fishstein & Wilder, 2012; Bohnke & Zurcher, 2013).
The country, where the aid organization will work out, while planning the aid distribution program, the major concerns are needed to be taken in to consideration. While the aid distributors are needed to work out, the organization needs to make sure that the agencies remained safe from the hands of the rebels (Bohnke & Zurcher, 2013). There are previous reports which have suggested that the attack on the staffs is being carried out against the staff agencies and they were being killed. This is one of the major concerns which are needed to be taken into consideration (Fishstein & Wilder, 2012).Health care and diseases prevailing in that area should also be taken into consideration while doing the operation. Environment is also one of the major factors that might be another concern for the aid agency to carry out their operation. If the village is prone to drought and poverty, the aid agency by taking into consideration the shortcomings, should keep the greater availability of food for their staffs and ensure the distribution is happening properly which should reach the affected people of the village.
Picking the Best Optimization
The emergency management plan needs to be implemented in order to protect staffs of the organization from the Banditry attack (Paso, 2014; Bohnke & Zurcher, 2013). The plan indicates any kinds of predictable emergencies such as attacks from the rebel, the conditions of the weather and many more. However, the staffs of the agencies are needed to be trained accordingly. Special security training has to be provided to the staffs to handle proper technology to mitigate attacks. The rates of the turnover of the staffs have to be reduced even and in that case, the field staff needs to make its stay longer (Bohnke & Zurcher, 2013). At the same the emergency plan management must also incorporates a more systematic way to evaluate any security incidents outside the agencies (Paso, 2014). The objective of the organization is to carry out operations by distributing proper food items through the agencies to the people of the villages without the staffs getting affected out of the attack caused by the rebels.
The staffs of the agency need to remain safe while the relief items are to be delivered to the population of village. The staffs are needed to be equipped with technologies in order to combat any attack coming from the rebels of the village (Fishstein & Wilder, 2012; Sylves, 2014). They also need to take other safety mechanism to protect themselves from the harsh weather or environment. In this case, proper training is necessary for the staffs.
Therefore, the proper implementation of the plan is needed in order to face the insecure environment while facing the challenges in the war- affected area.
The cyclone left a disastrous impact on an area. The people there also got affected out of the disaster. There were degradation of infrastructure, bridges and as a result, it has become a restricted area. Therefore, the government wanted an air assessment and each staff from the aid agency is allocated for that. The operational Lead Team has called a meeting to send a person for this operation. However, the logistic manager should get the first preference over the technical specialist in order to judge the situation.
The term logistic means planning and then implementing the effective flow of goods and services from the point of origination to the purpose of consumption in order to satisfy the people. In this situation, the logistic manager has the responsibility to look after the maintenance and the transportation of the equipments and also the goods and services to the people of the affected area (Vasic et al., 2014). On the other hand, the technical specialists generally would look into the matter of technical faults happened due to the cyclone disaster. The technical specialists would look after any sabotage caused to the infrastructure and the technical matters which would be of a major concern (Vasic et al., 2014). However, the logistic manager, who wants to take the responsibility to manage the situation, asserts that the manager already had an experience before and claimed to be smart, organized and able to meet the objectives of the situation, prevailed there. The manager also claimed to have a capacity and would look into the matter deeply by providing a necessary solution to the problem happened out of the disaster.
Quality Control
A logistic manager who has already served in a previous operation has executed good task by handling multiple works including the managing of the technical fields and supply of food and order to the people of the affected area. The manager also has the capacity to carry out effective way of managing communication, as the manager already worked in an operation before. (Akhtar, Marr and Garnavska, 2012). The logistic manager claims to have a good communication skill to understand the problems of the people. The manager is also a multilingual person therefore the manager can personally meet the people of that affected area and understand their problem accordingly. (Afshar & Haghani, 2012). The logistic manager also took training of supplying medical facilities, giving security to the people and other basic facilities. These are the important factors which are needed to be taken into account during the assessment process (Afshar & Haghani, 2012). The manager has the capability to look after the logistic operations include war housing, transportation of the materials and distribution. In order to achieve a goal or objective, the logistic manager believes in these criterions which are necessary for the operation which is to be conducted in the cyclone affected area (Afshar & Haghani, 2012; ( Day et al., 2012).
The logistic manager also looks forward to maintain the staffs of the organization and also looking forward to decrease the ad hoc conditions at the time of the disaster.
Logistic manager therefore takes the responsibility of taking care of works which includes a several spheres of activity and therefore, taking into consideration, the problems occurred in this field, it is an ardent need of the logistic manager to take care of them.

On a concluding note, it could be stated that the Humanitarian logistics play an important role in managing the post- disaster conditions in terms of managing warehouse, devising plan for the insecure environment to help out the staffs. The challenges faced by the humanitarian logistics in order to combat the disaster including government and military to organize proper steps to take out the supplies properly under the confused situation. In the end it states the importance of the logistic manager while providing relief to the people. Thus, the aiding agencies play an important role while managing the disaster related problems and helping out people in various ways.
