The aim of the report is to talk about the communication strategies of the selected companies. The companies that have been selected for the analysis of the communication strategies are Hungry Jacks and Dominos. In the competitive world, each and every company make use of the communication strategy in which they can express the goals and methods of the organization outreach activities that help them to accomplish objectives of the company. The report includes the comparison between the communication strategies of both the companies. It includes the types of communication work and how the communication has contributed to achieving the success of the companies. Though, the companies might have faced the issues with the communication strategies which are discussed in the report.
Hungry Jack
Hungry Jack’s is an Australian fast food franchise of the burger king corporation. The company started operating this franchise in the year 1971. The company is growing in the market as it has 26 stores in three states. In the year 1990, there were changes to the franchise agreement under which the permission was granted to the hungry jacks stores as an independent business (Hungry Jack’s, 2018).
Dominos
The company is well known American Pizza restaurant chain that came into existence in the year 1960s. The company has its headquarters at the Domino’s Farms Office Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Domino’s Pizza is the 2nd largest franchised pizza chain in the USA (Dominos, 2018). The company is recognized in the world as the leader in the Pizza delivery operating a network of company-owned and franchise-owned stores in the United States. The company is performing the activities with the mission to become the best pizza delivery company in the world.
This section of the report includes the description related to the business of the companies and the communication strategies that they are making use of their operations.
Hungry Jack’s
The company is known as Australia’s premier fast food brand who offers the wide range of burgers to the customers in the Australian market. The company is aware of the fact that communication strategies play a vital role in managing the operations of the business (Media and Communication Services, 2015).
Domino’s Pizza
The business is to manufacture and to sell the pizza across the world. The menu of the company includes different dishes according to the region. The main product of the company is pizza because it offers traditional, specialty, with different crust (Dominos, 2018). Dominos make use of communication for interacting not only with the stakeholders but also in between the internal departments across the world.
Discussions
Communication is the art of attaining and developing the understanding between the peoples. In other words, it is the process of exchanging the information between two departments or people (Louhiala-Salminen and Kankaanranta, 2011).
The natures of the communication are discussed below: –
- Two-way process: – Communication is a two-way process that is done by the companies for the effective management of the operations.
- Continuous process: – It is the continuous process in which the two or more people can share the details on the regular basis within the company so that they can conduct the operations effectively (Tanuja, 2018).
- Dynamic process: – This process is done between the two or more takes place with the help of the medium or forms of communication.
It is essential for both the companies to maintain the effective communication strategies and both the companies consider the different theories of communication (Trkman, 2010). These theories are discussed below: –
Development communication theory: – The theory is clear from the name as it states that there is no development of the company or organization without the communication. The dominos and Hungry Jack Company make use of this theory in which they are aware that effective communication is the only way through which they can bring improvement in their business operations (Soliz and Colaner, 2017).
Social responsibility theory: – The dominos company believes in the implementation of this theory because this theory allows free press without any censorship but the content of the press needs to be discussed in the public panel. Along with this, the media should follow all the obligations (Communication Theory, 2018). The company communicates with their customers through social networking channel for which the company needs to be very careful that this sentiment doesn’t create the impact on the customers. The presence of dominos on social media is far better than hungry jacks.
Hungry Jack and Dominos Company follow the similar types of communication while communicating which worked for the company effectively. These types of communication are discussed below: –
Verbal communication: – This communication is done in which person listen to the information shared by other (Mckee, et al 2013). Dominos and Hungry Jack’s company make use of the verbal communication while communicating the details with their employees, managers, stakeholders and many others. This verbal communication is essential for both the companies as this is the way through which they can achieve the success. Though, sometimes verbal communication between the managers and the employees leads to the crises mainly in the dominos company. The reason behind the issues involves the miscommunication because the employees might not be able to understand the same which the manager of the company is trying to explain.
Written communication: – This form of the communication is done in which they read the meaning. Both the fast food companies make use of the written communication in which they communicate with their customers or employees through social media platform, chat, and e-mail process (Burgoon, Guerrero and Floyd, 2016). The social media networking is one of written communication in which the customer share their feedbacks, reviews, the complaint in the written form and on same the manager’s reply for the same in written form (Macnamara and Zerfass, 2012). This communication is done by both the company which helps the company in understanding the needs of the customers as this is the only way through which they can communicate with the customers and can bring the improvement in the services. Though, the communication on social sites might create the bad image of the companies in front of other customers. In addition, at the workplace, the employees of the dominos and Hungry jacks need to get involved in the conversation through e-mail or documentation which is a form of communication.
Description of businesses
Non-verbal communication: – This type of communication also takes place in the company in which the communication is done through facial expressions or body language (Keyton, et al 2013). In Hungry jacks, this kind of communication takes place many times which are not successful because the person who is communicating might not be able to understand the facial expression of their employees (Phutela, 2015).
The communication plays a vital role in Dominos and Hungry Jack’s as this helps the company in enhancing the operations of the business. The managers in the international market ate able to perform their tasks and responsibility with the help of communication. The communication is the effective way through which the implementation of plans, assigning of duties, providing the directions and controlling the activities takes place (McQuail and Windahl, 2015). The entire processes are one that contributes to improve the operations of the companies. Both the companies make use of the promotion for generating the awareness in the market for the product that they are offering in the market (Kwan, 2011). Though, the communication might lead to the damage to the business. The employees and managers of the company face some issues which might lead to the danger for the company. This issue includes the length of a message, clarity of message, the way it is delivered and many others.
The wait for the responses in the communication process might increase due to which the decision making on the urgent issues gets a delay. This late response leads to the effect on the operations of the business. In addition, in the large companies like dominos, the update for the changes in the operations takes place on daily basis. Along with this, other information that is released by the company on daily basis in volume makes the employees and managers in difficulties for sorting out the volume of content (Ahmed, 2018).

In the end, it can be concluded that the communication is a tool that supports the business or companies to bring the improvement in the business operations in the home country as well as in the international market. The communication in the companies takes plays in the similar types but the change takes place in the theories that are implemented by the business for them. The Hungry jacks and dominos know the fact that the communication is very essential for the company not only for the internal communication but also for the external communication through marketing. Though, this communication leads to different issues for the company.
