Background
The assignment aims to peek into the sustainable development practice of Oxfam, Australia. Practices like poverty alleviation schemes, community development help the organization to achieve customer satisfaction (Oxfam.org.au 2020). The assignment aims to conduct an audit for the sustainable measures through the consideration of the annual reports, governmental updates among others. Mention can also be made of the donations, which improves the standards and quality of the responses towards the needs, demands and requirements of the clients and customers. Activists Hubs are a means for enhancing the customer engagement (Oxfam.org.au 2020). E-newsletters are a latest attraction, enhancing the awareness of the recent trends for improving the standards of living of the people. Fundraising events are organized for the adding financial flexibility into the plans for services (Oxfam.org.au 2020).
Aim
The aim of the project is to analyse the sustainable practices of Oxfam, Australia.
Objectives
- To investigate the feasibility of the marketing strategies of Oxfam in terms of sustainable development
- To analyse the way Oxfam is responding to the needs of the people light of the global crisis, COVID 19
Methodology
For collecting the necessary information, annual reports of Oxfam has been considered. Analysis of the collected data is performed through the development of relevant themes. These themes are related to sustainable development, which aims to enhance the triple bottom line approach (Sdgindex.org 2020). The annual report has been accessed with the permission of the Director for averting the illegal instances.
Key findings
61% of the investments made to the services of Oxfam are reserved for the humanitarian works. 25% of the expenses are devoted to fundraising, media and marketing. 11% of the funds go into the administrative works and 3% is reserved for the advocacies. The investments by 19.5 million people from 79 countries enhanced the customer rates of Oxfam. Partnerships have adversely affected the plans in Disaster and conflict management (Oxfam.org.au 2020). Fair trades act assistance in enhancing the brand loyalty. Mention can be made of the trades in 15,303 kgs of fair-trade chocolates, 228,811 packets of fair-trade coffee packets and 848,366 tea bags, which improved the standards of living for the farmers (Oxfam.org.au 2020).
The volunteers donated 74, 751 hours into monitor the shops operations. Summits helped in improving the decisions towards improving the standards of living for the farmers. Donations of $1.26 million were made Emergency funds, which provided the communities with the necessary supplies of food, water, shelter, sanitation (Oxfam.org.au 2020). The assistance from the Foreign Affairs and Trade is effective in terms of enhancing the standards of the recovery efforts. The volunteers are also supportive towards the vulnerable communities in terms of adjusting to the climactic changes. Media coverage on the revelations of Intergovernmental Panel on Climatic Change reflected emphasis on the reduction of the emissions (Oxfam.org.au 2020). Summits with the politicians resulted in the improvements in the decisions towards combating the devastating impacts of rising sea levels, extreme weathers (Oxfam.org.au 2020).
Purpose/Objective
Campaigns are created for providing the platform to those, who voices go unheard in terms of the environmental issues. TED talks, seminars, webinars suffice the need for involving the communities in the mainstream activities towards enforcing equal Right to Information Act (Oxfam.org.au 2020). The goals also cater to the reduction in the gender inequalities. Women employees are provided the opportunities to work at par with the male counterparts. In this context, mention can be made of the operations in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. Here, the aim is to provide daily essentials to the families, who have been affected through floods. Typical example can be cited of the 1600 Solomon Islanders, where campaigns for reducing violence on women were conducted by Oxfam, Australia (Oxfam.org.au 2020). Reference can also be cited of Lazarus, Zambia, where trainings were provided for cleaning water to make it safe for drinking in the communities. Along with this, mention can also be made of the provision of emergency aids to Rohingya refugees, flood affected people in Afghanistan, India and Laos (Oxfam.org.au 2020). The corporate social responsibility is also enhanced through the provision of daily supply essentials to the people affected by the climate shocks in Fiji, Vanuatu and Indonesia.
Conclusion
Oxfam, Australia needs to be praised for possessing a large supply chain network in terms of supporting the communities, farmers and others. Projects in the countries of Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Zambia and others are inclined towards improving the standards of living for the people by making the planet a better place to live in. Trainings are provided to the communities for making them self dependent in terms of crisis and disaster. However, funds and donations are collected for providing the people affected by the floods and the refugees. The sustainable goals relate to the involvement of the communities in the TED talks, seminars, and webinars for gaining an insight into the issues in their daily lives. Frameworks of sustainable development are essential for Oxfam in terms of making plans to expand the triple bottom line approach.
The summits and conferences need to be increased by Oxfam for devising plans in revising the sustainable goals. Introduction of the National Emergency Funds would be a mass appeal to the citizens in terms of extending helping hands to the people affected by the disasters. It needs to be ensured that the funds are utilized for the planned purpose. Reforming the policies would be an effective step for Oxfam in terms of improving the standards and quality of living for the communities. Sustainable Development Index can be considered for measuring the developments and initiatives in terms of ensuring the wellbeing of the people. Reports related to the sustainable development and the success can be sent to the government, which would be effective for undertaking quality measures to upgrade the standard of living for the communities. Evaluation is essential for ensuring the feasibility of the plans and policies in terms of the identified and the specified goals. Maintaining consistency in the evaluation would be effective for altering the business outlook of Oxfam.
