 Step 1:

What are the chosen population and where are they located  

 The chosen population is the people of South Brisbane region. Presently there are about 6,000 local inhabitants in the region of South Brisbane that is located in the state of Queensland. The Mater Health Service is the only major health care center. Population of the area includes people of all of all age categories. The good thing about the health assessment is that all the people of the South Brisbane region were included within it. Nevertheless good quality health service was not available and accessible to all the people in the south Brisbane. In order to ensure quality Healthcare is available to all the people in the region it is important to open up new Health Care Centers with all modern medical facilities available in it.

What were the aim and objectives?

The main aim of the HNA was to provide high quality medical care for all critically ill patients in South Brisbane region. The health program also aims to improve the condition of mental health of the local people. It also wants to promote the importance of good mental health care among the people which is one of the important parts of modern day health care.

The aim of the health care has been well determined that will improve the quality of the health care service in the south Brisbane region. However, the health care program does not have provisions to recruit more number of Healthcare workers, which is one of the main key health issues of the region.

Who was included in the project team?

The representative of the Medical councils of Australian government was the main stakeholders in the health care program. All the local social and healthcare workers were also a major part of the project team. The community workers were also included as they will help to highlight the health issues that are faced by the health care workers. With the help of the all the members in the project team, the health issues that are faced by the local people of South Brisbane can be resolved.

The project team does not have any major representatives from the local authority of governing body. The Mater Health Service was also not included within the project team.

In order to ensure full support and fulfill the aim of the health care program, it is important to ensure that all hospitals from the south Brisbane region participate in the program.   

 Who was included in the stakeholder group?

 All the local health and social care workers along with professional Healthcare experts on the major stakeholders within this Healthcare program. The local people of south Brisbane region are also is major stakeholder. I were the few number of Mental Health Care workers were not included within this Healthcare program.

In order to ensure the success of the health care program it is essential to ensure that all the members of health care service form a major part of the stakeholders. The healthcare suppliers also need to be included as they will help to ensure that the entire modern health infrastructures are being provided. With the help of the healthcare program the stakeholders will be able to contribute in the improvement of the health service in south Brisbane region.

What resources were required?

Financial resource is one of the most important parts of Health Care program. Modern Health Care equipments along with latest Healthcare medicines are also a part of the resource.

The main issue in this case is that the training programs of Healthcare workers are not included within the resource. The training infrastructure that is needed to improve the skill of Healthcare workers also needs to be a major part of Healthcare infrastructure. It is also the duty of the local authority to ensure that there is no shortage of financial resource for health care programs.

 Step 2: Identifying Health Priorities

How was the profile of health population developed?

In order to get an overall picture of the health condition and infrastructure of South Brisbane region the local health authority along with Healthcare organizations collected various types of data using survey and interview.

The main issue in this case is that the health profile was developed only using qualitative data and the data that was collected were not verified carefully.

It is important for the Healthcare workers to collect data for Healthcare profile from reliable sources and also verify the data that is collected so that it is possible to identify the health issues that are faced in the south Brisbane region.

What data were available on health of the population?

 From the data that were collected the overall health condition of population of South Brisbane region was highlighted.

 The Healthcare disease and clinical condition that were faced by the local people was also identified. The children of the South Brisbane region had major health issues in recent times. The diseases that were faced by children below the age of 5 year were also identified.

Nevertheless no major data were available about the mental health condition of local population. Hence in order to get the overall picture of Healthcare it is important to collect data about mental health condition of the local people.

 How was the information gathered about the local people and service provider’s perception of needs?

In order to get information about local people and also their Health Care condition, the health care workers held regular meeting with the people and also provide them with valuable Health Care advice. Meeting with the patient family is also a major part which helps them to collect data about the disease they have encountered.

It is also important to have meeting with the mental health patients which will help them to get the idea about the mental health condition of local population.

What were the barriers encountered?

 Many of the patients when not willing to share personal information with Healthcare workers. Low financial budget was also a major barrier.

In order to resolve this barrier it is important for the Healthcare workers to ensure that they communicate properly with the patient and also ensure proper data are being collected.

 How were these overcome?

Skill full data analysts were recruited in the overall process, which will help to ensure that data that are collected are properly interpreted. With the help of the proper data it is possible to identify the major health issues. The communication skills of the healthcare workers also need to be improved, which will help in the matters of dealing with the health issues.  

In order to ensure that the data is collected from reliable source, the health care workers must collect both primary and secondary forms of data to get the idea about the overall picture of healthcare infrastructure.  

What were the key issues for the population

 One of the major key issues in Healthcare facilities of South Brisbane is that there is lack of Healthcare workers and medical practitioner. The only major healthcare center of the region that is The Mater Health Service do not have  infrastructure to provide treatment for critically ill patients and also have no provision for the economically and financially backward section of the society. Another major issue is that all the hospitals of South Brisbane do not have infrastructure for providing Mental Health Care which is one of the major health related issues in the area. The Healthcare workers in the region also lacks proper training that is needed to handle critically ill patient.

In order to improve the condition is important to provide proper Healthcare training to all the Health Care workers. More Phone number of Healthcare workers and medical practitioners need to be recruited.
