Tools and techniques for addressing 10 knowledge areas of PMBOK
Discuss about the Design and Construction of Removable.
CPB Contractors has been given the responsibility to construct the 94WBR-shed. The project manager will prepare the plan and will assign the stakeholders for the project. The shed project work will contain the list of activities demolition works in the backyard at first. After the demolition work gets completed, the stakeholders will perform the site work, after the site work they will work on building the floor, after that they will carry out the Wall construction work, framing of roof, installation of doors and windows. Later they will work on the painting and the cleaning work. CPB Contractors stakeholders will work on the norms and strategy of CPB Contractors and will accomplish the project within given time. The project plan will contain all the activities that need to be performed along with the budget and the time schedule. The shed project contains the list of stakeholders- the civil engineer, wood machinist, and builder, subcontractor, cleaning staff and lastly painter and decorator. It will also contain the sponsor and the content writer.
94WBR-Shed Project will contain the list of activities that need to be performed by the project team. The tasks initially contain the minor demolition-construction work initially. The demolition work involves the cutting down of trees, removing section of the boundary wall using 341 high reach demolition excavators. It also involves cutting down of small plants and grass. It also involves clearance of backyard lot. The construction work contains the site work, building of floor step. The mason will use the wooden frame to mark the boundary of the shed; the builder will dig the hole for the first block. Gravel adding and the installation of block are part of the site work. The building of floor step involves the marking of joist locations on long front joists, marking of joist locations on rear rim joists. The building of floor joists consists of the doubling front joists, addition of plywood floor. The wall construction involves the door jack studs installation for the wall studs. The builder and the wood machinist are responsible to raise the assembly. The builders are responsible for framing and raising walls without sheathing. The wood machinist is responsible for the addition of the remaining plywood sheathing. The framing of roof involves the work activities like joining rafter pairs with the Plywood guest, implementation of plywood roof deck and implementation of drip edge along with the rake edges. Roofing and Siding involves usage of plywood for roof deck, covering roof deck with roofing felt. After that the shed construction project involves installation of doors and windows. The wood machinist and the builder will install the doors and windows of the project. The painter and the decorator will paint the shed walls; they will paint the windows and the doors. The cleaning staffs carries out the cleaning of the shed. The project manager will hand over to the project to the client or the sponsor. If the sponsor approves the project deliverables then he will ask to continue the project and will provide the fund for the project.
Scope, risk, communication, and procurement management
The construction project will be completed in accordance to the waterfall methodology. The methodology contains the following steps like the requirements, design, implementation, verification and the maintenance. CPB Constructions must work on the requirements of the shed project. They must design and develop the shed in accordance to the requirements of the clients. After that they will carry out all the construction related tasks. The waterfall model consists of the verification procedures. The project manager will direct the stakeholders to work on the project. After the stakeholders completing the project, the project will be verified by the project manager. The project manager will verify whether the project will be completed within the stipulated time following the derivable of the project. The project sponsor will check whether the project will meet the requirements or not. The sponsor has certain demands, the sponsor will check whether the project will be able to meet the requirements or not. The project manager must include the shed maintenance within the plan. Thus stakeholders will ensure steady maintenance of the shed.
Following are the ten knowledge areas those need to be accomplished in an efficient and effective manner and it is crucial to utilize the proper tools and techniques that can lead the project to a success:
Project Integration Management: Expert judgement and change control meetings can be suggested as an appropriate approach for successfully implementing this knowledge area in the 94-WEB Shed-project. it will be helpful in updating the change requests status, updating the project management plan and updating the project documents.
Project Scope Management: Prototyping, questionnaires and surveys, brainstorming, and interviews are some of the techniques those could be utilized for the management of the scope throughout the project.
Project Time Management: Schedule management, Gantt chart, Critical path management, sequence activities, and schedule development are some of the techniques those could result in the schedule management for this project.
Project Cost Management: Experience from last projects, horizon planning, human resource estimation, and project duration estimation are some of the factors those could alter the project budget and hence these techniques could be delivered for the management of the cost.
Project Quality Management: Cause and effect diagrams, run charts, flow charts, Pareto chart, and histogram are some of the techniques those could be utilized for the quality management.
Project Human Resources Management: Organizational charts, organizational process assets, and activity resource requirements are the techniques those could be utilized for the human resource management during this project.
Project Communications Management: Pull communication and push communication are the techniques those could be utilized for the effective and efficient communication during the project execution.
Project Risk Management: risk prioritization, risk handling, expert judgement, and decision tree are some of the techniques those could be utilized for the management of the risks and restricting its impact to the minimum level.
Project Procurement Management: Procurement audit, management system recording, and negotiated settlements are some of the techniques those could be utilized for updating the organizational process and closed procurements.
Project Stakeholder Management: Stakeholder mapping, influencing, triggers identification, looking opportunities, and proactive mitigation are some of the techniques for the management of the stakeholders for this project.
The scope of the project will be managed through effective and efficient delivery of the techniques mentioned above and continuously communicating with the stakeholders about the current status and future determination for the project completion. The communication management techniques will be helpful in informing the stakeholders about the status and delivery of the project. The communication will also be driven considering the procurement management those are essential for managing the procurement considering the conflict management and other factors those are necessary for the successful deployment of the project. The above mentioned tools and techniques are very effective in the management of the constraints need to be managed in this section and those should be delivered in a sequential manner. Communication strategies will be helpful in eliminating all the communication gaps and allow the stakeholders to effectively manage the project constraints.
Management of integration: the tools proposed in the above report are helpful in allowing the stakeholders of the 94 – WEB Shed project to dig out the maximum efficiency from the project through delivering the effective project management strategies.
Project Stakeholder Management: The techniques mentioned above allows the manager to effectively manage the stakeholders and deliver the project with higher efficiency through influencing them to contribute in the project development.
Project Quality Management: it will be helpful in assuring that the project being delivered is of high standard and the stakeholders are satisfied with the delivery being proposed to them.
Project Human Resources Management: Human resources are the crucial factor for the successful development of the project and assuring that they have been given priority while delivering the project execution.
Triple constraints management is another considerable factor that will be helpful in managing all the constraints of the project without altering the scope and objective of the project. Triple constraint management assure that the project was delivered as per the planned manner and assuring the satisfaction of the stakeholders if the planning phase was executed considering the satisfaction of the stakeholders.
