Monitoring has no limitations it is done to analyze the activities of the employee of the workplace. It is the kind of observation which contains systematic and purposeful observation. The nature of good monitoring is to examine the activities regarding project and planning. It helps to get know all the aspects of running projects and involvement of employees of that particular project. Development of indicator is the numeric measurement which helps to gain knowledge about the life of particular place. It consist economic, environmental and social aspects (Zollo, et. al.,2013).
Monitoring system in workplace is not only observed all tasks and procedure but also do evaluation. A characteristic of monitoring system is to analyze the participation of employees in the organization and obtain the information of the barriers. To bring the sustainable result monitoring and evaluation data describes and measures the initial data with the help of outcomes. It considers as the initiate level to measure the indicators. M&E system facilitates to get know that what resources are required to predefine goals of organization. Thus, monitoring system helps out to run the business in smooth manner. Effective indicators bring the attention towards the issue of particular problem and help out to remove it with effective solution by giving proper guidance. For instance, the midterm report would be the indicator of the performance of the child and it helps to know the current situation of the child but the report is completely based upon the monitoring of that particular child. Therefore, good monitoring system contributes to effective indicators (Chapman, et.al.,2015).
High gate primary school is one of the oldest primary school of Western Australia which was established in 1895. It is a school which believes to provide the high education to the child. The number of students of HGP is around 600. The main feature of HGP is to provide the practical understanding to the students of the global community. Sustainability dimension
Sustainable is being used in various forms such as sustainability of corporate, sustainability of industry, sustainable growth, sustainable development and many more. Sustainable dimension consist majorly three aspects in it that is economic, socio-cultural and environmental dimension which helps to bring out the more information regarding High Gate primary school. Sustainability is the major issue of the school. The main aim of the school is to increase the awareness of climate change and work on to reduce the unnecessary consumption of energy (Sterling & Huckle, 2014). School has number of policies which is being produces and followed for the purpose of creating the environment healthy and safe and it covers most of the all aspects of the school including equalities, parental partnership, school curriculum and teaching and learning (Gupta, 2013). The main three sustainable dimension of High gate primary school is given below:
- Socio-cultural dimension
- Economic dimension
- Environmental dimension.
Socio cultural dimension refers the safety, healthy and cooperation within the premises. High Gate school is well known school in Western Australia and numbers of students are the part of the school. It is necessary for the school to give priority to the safety and cooperation so that the goodwill would be sustained for a long time. Social sustainability in the form of high gate school is to prevent the school from mental, racism and physical violence ( Eizenberg & Jabareen, 2016). As it has been discussed above that the school is rich due to its various cultures. In that case the possible chances of violence take place. Therefore, school should be monitor all activities of the students and observe the nature of individuals also so that the responsibility and rules of the school could not be neglected by anyone. Creating contacts to local authority is the part of sustainable social culture. In the term of high gate primary school, social culture dimension refers the participation of interested activities and cooperation between employees and students of the school so that the understanding will be sustained for a longer (Zemsky, 2013). It is very important dimension for primary school because it creates the value of school in front of everyone. Equality between employee and students are major measure point for social culture dimension. As stated above in the context of school that school has various kinds of students for different culture. It is the responsibility of the school to sustain the dignity of their culture and provide the learning training in the context of acceptable each and everyone traditions without hurting. Social dimension is not only bound till providing services in the concern of society but also explore the knowledge of human rights (Woodcraft, 2012). High gate school should be given opportunity to the student in equal manner and make them aware towards their rights so that they can get know their rights. Make them free to speak up so that hesitation does not become the barrier for the student to ask or say anything (Nevado-Peña, et. al., 2015).
Socio-cultural dimension
Economic dimension refers the risk management and profitable growth. Economic sustainability of high gate primary school contains the eco efficiency and life cycle of products such as procuring, recycling of waste materials and saving energy and material in the benefit of school. To make the sustainability in the school in the term of economic, high gate school should be aware about the issues which can be the barriers in future context (Christopher, 2016). Growth and adaptability of technology is most important for the school because both aspects play a vital role in the development of the students as well as school. Economic dimension mainly focus to provide the knowledge of the students of monetary terms and facilitates them to obtain information about the ecosystem services running in the present market and environmental regulations. Various kinds of policies are being made in the concern of safety for the students (Holden, et.al., 2016). Economic growth is having the two aspects which perform in their own way. One is eco-economy and another one is socio economy. Eco-economy contains resource efficiency and energy efficiency while socio economy refers employment, training and development, sponsorships and social and community. Both are having different nature but part of the economic dimension. High gate primary school observes all the aspects through using monitoring tool whether school performs its business and responsibility in efficient manner or not. A transport service is also the part of economic development of school. Most of the children come from too far area so the school should be kept the facilities of the bus with affordable prices. Cost of education materials and services are also part of economic sustainability if any changes occur in the policy of Australian government the direct or indirect impact would be put on the running system of school. It is important to keep potential funds and requirements so that all of sudden change does not put impact on running system (Oginni & Omojowo, 2016).
Environment is an important factor for every enterprise. Hugh gate primary school is having high values in the reference of enhancing the education of the students so it is necessary to the school to have the effective environment so that sustainability could be remained same as before. Environment dimension mainly consist the land, atmosphere and biodiversity information. In the context of high gate primary school, it has green council which helps to attain the objectives of school to keep the greener school. It also facilitates to keep the environment health of the school. It runs the program in which two students has been picked from years 1 to 6 and given the name of green councilor which is the part of green council. Green councilors prefer to work together so that more and more ideas can generate with the help of views and ideas of each other. Green councilors is busy to perform the various activities such as make ensure that school is doing recycling process effectively, enhance the productivity of performance of the staff as well as the student by conducting various programs, by switching off the lights of all the organization, through running a program with the subject of sustainability week and carrying out a waste audit. Apart from those activities high gate primary school believes to give information and huge knowledge about the importance of the natural environment and about the danger aspects of climate change which may affect the future generations (Agunloye, et. al., 2013). The beneficiary aspect of high gate school is to welcoming the visitors to recommendation about the policies of school and provides the facilities to have the support or involvement of them. Apart from them, high gate school is having the various policies which help or support to the staff as well as students in their problems. Water conservation refers the clean water which has become the challenge of the world so in that case school should be give proper guidance and lessons towards attaining the rules of protection of water for future reference (High gate primary school, n.d.).
Economic dimension
Dunphy model: it shows the phases of organizational sustainability. Phases are rejection, non-response, compliance, efficiency, proactively and sustaining organization.
The current stage of high gate primary school is compliance because high gate primary school enhances the awareness of environment. It has become able to reduce the risks. Many changes have been done in school which helps to build an image of school in society appropriately. Compliance is the phase that comes in the second wave of Dunphy model. Some of the buildings of high gate primary school have been listed in heritage. Those buildings have been maintained to conserve their honor.
High gate primary school could be elevated to proactivity phase of Dunphy model because school can be proactived. The management of stakeholder can be managed by high gate primary school. Soft skills of school can be enhanced further. School is concerned about innovation in the school. These changes and capability are sufficient for school to move from compliance phase to proactivity. Proactivity phase also come in second wave of dunphy model.
High gate primary school is well established and offer specialized subjects as weel to their students. Sports activities are the major effective element of school. High gate primary school runs a sustainable week in which students and parents are welcomed to talk about the issues of environmental. Green council has been made in the school for the purpose of generating ideas to make lives greener. School has staff and parents in the form of stakeholders. For business strategy and input, school need to talk to staff and higher authorities. School need to analyses the issues and then put efforts regarding change. There can be various ways to spend the money but business case will be helpful for school to get know about the requirement of spending.
High gate primary school needs to cross the phase of efficiency to reach the phase of strategic proactivity. School need to do focus on engagement and environmental management to cross the phase of efficiency. Through focusing on innovation, school can be transformed from compliance to proactive. The stakeholders of schools are parents, teacher, school authorities, policy makers, academic researcher and teacher training institutions. School can be modified in to the phase of proactivity by managing their stakeholders. School can get competitive advantage from transformation.
To remain at the phase of proactivity, school need to monitor the process of innovation and analyze the new ideas regarding innovation. It is important for the school to monitor their programs that has been implicated for the purpose of making friendly environment. Indicators for monitoring can be access to learning aids, use of learning aids in the school, teacher training, identification of subordinate group and intensive learning classes of English. These indicators will be helpful for school to remain at the phase of proactivity.
It is the most well known model that is used triple bottom line. The triple bottom line is connected to economic, social and environmental value. Economic indicators of high gate primary school are policy and practices of school and development of infrastructure of school. Environmental indicators of school are concerned with influence of an organization on living and non-living system. It can be material and water usage, environmental programs and non compliance penalties. A social indicator reflects the responsibility of services, human rights, labor practices and wider social issues. These indicators facilitate to make GRI effectively.
It is a model that helps to monitor the sustainability. In the context of high gate primary school, PSIR is an attractive model. Pressure refers that environment is affected by human activities. Waste disposal, release of unhygienic products in to environment and depletion of resource are the major human activities which can be seen usually. State is an element which observes the changes of the environmental compartment such as pesticides and waste. Impact demonstrates the effect of these changes in environment. Response is a next step of impact. It shows the response of the society to the problem such as industrial ecology and proactive alternatives. School monitors these activities and runs program regarding stop this practices which may cause of harm to environment.
List and assessment of indicators for monitoring
