Task 1 Work breakdown structure
Project management is one of the most effective and exclusive discipline which focuses on attaining the project objectives which are defined as short term goals for the business units. The stages of initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing are effectively involved in the overall management (Lientz & Rea, 2016). The present study is focusing on developing an IT project which is very beneficial for business growth and expansion. Project manager for the present study will develop Social media research center which will help the associated organization in enhancing sales and quality aspects for the consumers (Majid, Zakaria & Keyvanfar, 2012). The project manager will ensure to focus on the scope, schedule, budget and quality of the project in order to attain measurable organizational value for the stated project. Different tools and techniques of project management have been effectively discussed below.
Work breakdown structure (WBS) is one of the easy and effective project management tool which helps in significant evaluation and planning aspect. It helps in representing the overall evaluation in a structured and well defined manner (Martinelli & Milosevic, 2016). It focuses on minimizing the complications and time for developing project management activities. In order to develop effective social media research center, WBS tool will be implemented by the project manager (Huemann, Keegan & Müller, 2016). All the activities of the project will be organized represented in work breakdown structure in order to attain clear evaluation aspects for the project.
The Gantt chart and critical path for the project has been attached henceforth.
The budget for the present project has been mentioned below:
Risks |
Causes |
Possible course of actions |
Impacts |
Risk mitigation |
Resource shortage |
Denial of staff members and analysts or ineffective planning for the resource requirements |
Understating overall project activities and needs thus evaluating the manpower need and demand for the project thus creating significant results |
Increase in cost and time of project completion (Ignaciuk & Bartoszewicz, 2012) |
Effective and well structured planning. |
Conflict |
Staff disagreement and disputes regarding work allocation |
Regular monitoring and analysis of staff needs. Developing and implementing team enhancement techniques to ensure project success |
Huge impact project performance and staff management aspects affecting the project success |
Effective analysis of staff needs and demands. Implementing effective conflict management techniques (Iwanaga, El Sawah & Jakeman, 2013) |
Budget gap |
Ineffective planning and evaluation of resource cost and prices |
Undertaking well defined market analysis to evaluate the budget and pricing needs about technical and software needs and demands to |
Significant impact on financial aspects of project planning and execution thus effecting project cost and time. May also result in restricting the progress of the project due to lack of finance thus affecting overall project success (Faria, Araújo & Tereso, 2016). |
Undertaking effective market research to evaluate the financial and budgeting analysis. Ensuring Effective and well structured planning |
Incorrect sequencing |
Ineffective understanding for activities of the project. Also gap in understating between preceding and succeeding project activities |
Developing effective and well defined understanding about project activities and sequence to effective analyze and decide the sequencing aspect (Liu, Li & Wang, 2013). |
Subsequent delay in project progress and completion time as continuous review of the sequence will be needed. |
Effective planning and analysis of project activities while evaluating the preceding and succeeding activity aspects. |
Technical failure |
Lack of effective support and technological aspect |
Updating technology as per project needs and requirements. |
As he project is focusing on updating the IT needs of the business this risk may result in overall project failure |
Developing significant support for effective technology and managing significant support. |
Quality is one of the most significant and crucial part of project management. Competition of the project in the stated quality aspect helps the project manager in effectively attaining the project objectives and goals. The quality management plan for the present project will be as follows:

Project closure is a significant step for ensuring effective project success. The present closure checklist will consist of the following:
- Project scope: After project completion the students of the university should be able to effectively attain high quality information for their academic projects (Heagney, 2016). The project manager will analyze the project scope and ensure that the same is effectively attained in a well defined manner.
- Time: The project manager will ensure that the project is completed in the estimated time as per the schedule planned. This will help in ensuring project success in a definite manner.
- Budget: The comparison between the planned budget and actual budget will be effectively analyzed and compared. This will help in ensuring significant project success.
- Deliverables: The present project focused on developing web application for social media research center to produce high quality research outcome (Konstantinou & Müller, 2016). The project manager will check the same for ensuring project completion and success.
Conclusion
Project management is a process which focuses on attaining the deliverable while ensuring the project scope. The above study clearly defined the project process and quality management aspects which was highly significant for the success and completion of the same. As per the evaluation it can be analyzed that the stated project will enhance the capability of client’s organization and the university students will ensure quality research results as well.
