Defining a Good Teacher and Classroom Management Strategies
(1) 1.1) A good teacher has a positive relationship with students, professional, deep knowledge about the subject, empathy and enthusiastic.
1.2) Key consideration are:
- Teacher should use good pedagogy.
- Must have deep understanding about her students so as to develop positive relationship with students which in turn helps in minimising the behaviour issue.
- Activities should be student oriented and engaging.
- Pedagogy used should be flexible.
- Appropriate behaviour should be encouraged.
- If there is any behaviour issue, there should be an early intervention.
Teachers must inform their students about the expectations.
1.3) I believe a positive learning environment is about having an environment where learning is based good pedagogy. Furthermore, learning should be student oriented and engaging, expectations are well informed, good behaviour is acknowledged, inappropriate behaviours are prevented and if any behaviour issue arises then early intervention is there. The classroom environment should be safe and healthy for students.

2.2) I believe that classrooms should be places of learning and enjoyment for students rather than strict environment. Students should control what they learn.
(3) 3.1)
I believe that good communication between teacher and student is vital to a positive classroom climate because it builds up positive relationship with students as this will help in controlling the behavioural issue.
Students will be able to understand the content and will be engaged.
Less opportunity for misunderstanding.
3.2) Personal beliefs of teachers affect the way they create positive learning environment in a classroom as it directly impacts their teaching philosophy and strategy.
3.3) I believe professional reflexivity is important to my teaching because our behaviour to a certain situation will change. (placing yourself in that situation, asking yourself why this didn’t work) and then u will change ur strategy.
3.4) As a consequence of this belief, I will ask myself why it didn’t work and try to change the scenario.
Making journal.
Talking to colleges.
(4) 4.1)
By using PIR cycle, I will plan the topic to be taught to class on the basis of level of my students’ learning, their background, engaging and interesting. I will facilitate the independent learning, mentoring my students learning and also giving the feedback on their performance. By the end of the day I will review my pedagogy so that the loopholes can be covered when conducting the next lesson.
4.2) I believe that students best learn when the topic is according to their interest. Moreover, a student should be motivated to learn.
4.3) I am of the view that a productive and orderly classroom can only be ensured through flexible teaching and by developing a friendly and personalized teaching practice. In my classroom, each student will be free to express his or her creativity and opinion.
(5) 5.1) After reading Killu, I believe that few more strategies should form part of my teaching philosophy. For example, timely behavioural interventions can be very handing in improving behaviour of students.
(6) 6.1) I believe that creativity can be ensured by giving students an environment where they can express creativity. For example, giving them real-life problems to solve or asking them to make pieces of arts.
(7) 7.1) I agree with Cohen that goals of education should be to provide emotional and social support to students along with academic learning. Furthermore, the overall experience and attitude of students can be improved with the help of social and emotional learning by students.
