Discuss About The Environmental Management In Construction?
The project of construction industries are highly complex, associated with risks, expensive, and time consuming. The increasing human activities in the field of construction have adversely affected the global environment. The environmental measures should be given privilege for undertaking the construction project. The sustainability of the environment should be promoted for enhancing the green construction projects. The ecological and social issues should be resolved in the development of the building. Every phase of the project development life cycle should emphasise on the fundamentals of green construction so that the final output should promote sustainability of the construction industries (Ramlee, 2016). The adverse effect on the environment can be minimised by undertaking the green policies in the construction of the building. In this paper, we are looking forward on the literature review to analyse the role played by the project management on the environment in relation with the construction industries.
It has been researched that the selection of the success factors plays a key role in the development of the systematic construction for promoting the green construction (Haridharan, 2017). From the previous studies we have examined that there are various measures to check the quality of the construction undertaken which are categorised as certainty of time and cost, flexibility, selection of the procurement process, competition of price, and risk identification and management (Alias, 2014). The construction decision are majorly depends on the right selection of the success factors. The following table shows the literature review of the previous studies:

The analysis of the literature review helps in finding the success factors which are responsible for the project management associated with the construction industry. It has been determined that the competitiveness of the market and feasibility of the technical equipment are the key factors which are responsible for influencing the environmental policies (Lawson, 2015). The availability of the contractor and the measurement of labour productivity is responsible for measuring the economic feasibility of the project. The construction of the building should reduce the adverse effect of construction on the environment, should help in enhancing the physical strength of the labour, benefits to the community, consideration should be given to the project development life cycle, and its impact on the economy and social issues (Dickinson, 2014).
During research, we have examined that the researchers have focused on the result associated with the project development phase to enhance the environmental condition of the locality (Rameezdeen, 2013. The following hierarchical model shows the success of the construction project depends on the budget structure, schedule of the construction activities, and quality measurement tools (Yang, 2017). The focus should also be given on the characteristics of the project, arrangement of meetings with contractor, participants associated with the projects, and assimilation of interactive process (Varjao, 2016).
The success of the project depends on the association of the success factors in the development of the project. The success of the project depends on the changes occurred in the associated variables of the success factors which can be examined from the table below:

Critical Success Factors of Environmental Management in Construction
There are five variables which are associated with the success of the project are actions related with the development of the project plan, action associated with the project management activities, procedures undertaken in carrying out construction activities, factors associated with the human requirement, and environmental issues such as increasing level of water and noise pollution. The following chart helps in identifying the significance associated with the critical success factors of the construction program.
The analysis of the literature reviews and research studies helps in developing the theory of knowledge to clarify the role of project management activities in the field of construction activities. The following diagram shows the epistemological model of the research studies undertaken:
Contribution 1: The model helps in providing research synthesis on the domain of knowledge collected in the literature review section. It helps in determining the critical success factors of project management activities on the construction program (Didenko, 2016). It has been determined that the competitiveness of the market and feasibility of the technical equipment are the key factors which are responsible for influencing the environmental policies.
Contribution 2: The new perspective of the research studies can be designed by focusing on the domain of knowledge. It helps in finding out the factors which are responsible for the negative impact of the construction activities on the environment (Hwang, 2012).
Contribution 3: The research gaps can be examined by exploring the domain of the construction activities. The new phenomenon can be developed for promoting the awareness of environmental related activities (Kulatunga, 2006).
The aim of this research studies is to promote environmental condition with regards to the construction activities. It helps in promoting the awareness of the people towards the environment so that they should take step forward to save their environment from the adverse effect of construction activities and should promote green construction of the building. The following diagram shows the methodology followed during the research studies:
The research philosophy helps in analysing the negative and the positive side of the research proposal. It helps in finding out the social effect on environment of the construction activities which are being undertaken. The research question helps in taking the research in the right direction.
The research approach helps in creating the research hypothesis for analysing the result of the existing research.
Hypothesis 1: Measuring the effect of critical success factors of the construction activities on the environment
Hypothesis 2: Impact of the activities associated with the project development life cycle.
The Qualitative and quantitative approach should be followed for analysing the construction activities and its effect on the environment. The interviews and questionnaires should be arranged for collecting the information so that the effect of construction activities on the environment can be studied. The arrangement of survey is the economical way for collecting huge amount of information on the construction activities. The answers of the surveys and questionnaires can be compared on the standard bases.
Descriptive research studies is designed for carrying out the research task successfully and gathered related information to find out the clear concept of the research proposal. The interviews helps in gathering the opinion, thoughts, views, feelings, and believes of the interviewee on saving the environment from the construction activities. Surveys and questionnaire helps in judging the awareness of the people towards the adverse effect of the construction activities on the environment. The size of the sample undertaken helps in notifying the accuracy of the result by comparing the result of the study.
Success Factors for Undertaking Green Construction
In the research study, we have mainly focused on the positive affect of the construction on the environment are
- It helps in satisfying the requirement of the habitants.
- Opens the door for the new employment to earn the livelihood
- Helps in increasing the economic condition of the nation
The negative affect of the construction on the environment are:
- Accumulation of waste disposition during the construction activities
- Increasing level of dust and smoke
- Increasing level of noise pollution
- Increasing level of water pollution
- Increasing level of the congestion of the traffic
The focus is not given on how the project management activities can be enhanced to develop and implement environmental secured construction activities.
The participants associated with the projects plays an important role in the deployment of stakeholder management policies. The roles and responsibilities should be provided to the team leader and other associated clients (Sunindijo, 2016). The quality of the project can be enhanced by measuring the expectation of the participants. The identification of the project success factors helps in enhancing project development activities.
The research study helps in developing relationship between economic, social, environmental, and technological activities. It helps in developing the flawless construction activities which have the minimum adverse effect on the environment. The allocation of the resources on the construction site can be effectively done which helps in completing the project within the allocated time period. The importance should be given to the following factors during the development of the construction activities.

The purpose of the research study is to evaluate the role of environmental project management activities in the field of construction program. The planning and designing phase helps in the development of the environmental friendly construction of the building which helps in minimizing the level of noise and water pollution in the locality. The project management activities, allocation of resources on demand, and measuring the effect of activities on the environment are the key areas for the successful completion of the construction program. The monitoring and control policies help in measuring the effect of construction program on the environment. The selection of the critical success factors is the key role in the successful completion of the project within the allocated budget and time.
Conclusion
From the research study, we concluded that the sustainability of the environment should be promoted for enhancing the green construction projects. The ecological and social issues should be resolved in the development of the building. The analysis of the literature review helps in finding the success factors which are responsible for the project management associated with the construction industry. The decision making policies of the project management tem depends on the selection of the critical success factors which are chosen for the completion of the construction program. The environmental policies should be undertaken during the construction of the project development activities. The environmental awareness programs should be organized so that the project management team should focused on the environmental related policies during the undertaking of the construction activities. The long term sustainability can be achieved by assessing the climatic and the physical condition of the geographical areas. The effectiveness of the construction program can be measured by evaluating the adverse effect on the underlying environment. The quality of the project can be enhanced by measuring the expectation of the participants. The availability of the contractor and the measurement of labour productivity is responsible for measuring the economic feasibility of the project. The future scope of the project is to work on analysing and implementing the construction activities for achieving the long term sustainability of the environment.
