Ifemelu and Obinze are young and in love when they leave military-ruled Nigeria for the West. Beautiful, self-assured Ifemelu heads for America, where she suffers shocks and disappointments, finding unexpected success as a blogger. But after so long apart and so many changes, will they find the same intimacy that once bound them together?
