Discuss about the Ethics and Professionalism for Ethical and Social.
Ethical practices are considered to be an essential aspect of the organization and it is quite important for any company to ensure that the behavior of the staff in the given organization is ethical and that the manner in which they conduct their business is quite professional (Tseng & Hung, 2014). An absence of professionalism in the organization tends to lead to a wide variety of problems which may tamper the relationship of the organization with its customer base. The given report will be discussing the ethical and professional practices of the chosen organization named Jetts Fitness
The Jetts Fitness is a health and fitness store which has around 270 locations around the globe. The company has various stores in New Zealand, Thailand, Australia and the United Kingdom (Australia, 2018). The business model of the company is based on a franchisee system and all the outlets are given the form of a budget gym. The company started its business in 2008 in Queensland and a 24 hour service can be accessed by its members all round the clock. The report will be following a structured format whereby the different ethical and professional considerations of the organization will be provided effectively.
The ethical, social and culturally appropriate behavior which is essential for Jetts Fitness has been provided as follows:
Safety is always considered to be a primary consideration in the fitness gyms and centers. This is because, these centers can be considerably dangerous. If a person is mindless and intoxicated then an individual might hurt others or himself (Fitness., 2018). Hence, to present this the equipment’s which are used must always be kept in place.
Secondly, in intruding others is also inconsiderate and different members must be given adequate space in order to ensure that others are respected too. The use of foul language needs to avoid in order to ensure that all members are satisfied.
It is the duty of the gym management to ensure that no members are harassed and that there exists protection with respect to the safety of different clients and a good environment is formed.
Possible challenges of unethical behavior is given as follows:
The personal space of the different members of the gym is not respected and that women are made to feel uncomfortable (Rudolph, 2016). The trainer may have a great role to play in the given scenario and if their intentions are incorrect, they may cause harm to the different members by invading their privacy and assaulting the members as well sexually by touching them inappropriately.
Section 1: Ethical, Social and culturally appropriate behavior
Option 2
The professional behaviour which is expected in the Jetts Fitness center has been given as follows:
- The client information needs to keep confidential (Bowie, 2017). This is because a client`s health information is private in nature and it is due to this reason, the trainer or the management needs to ensure that private information is not disclosed.
- The trainers are required to focus effectively and provide engaging experiences to the clients. They are to engage in effective exercise programs with the clients which can be done by them in regular basis. The clients need to be engaged in the exercises and the trainer is expected to provide full attention during the training sessions and classes.
- The health trainer is also expected to update themselves with trends existing in the industry and apply this knowledge in order to ensure that the given set of members benefit the most from the latest trends and technologies (Dweck, 2013).
- The schedules of the various members is also required to be maintained accordingly and at all the members are paid adequate attention to. The trainer needs to manage his timing according to the client behavior and adequate attention must be paid to all the members.
- The trainers need to dress appropriately and have separate social media accounts for business as well as the personal cases (Smith, 2014).
Certain instances where unprofessional business can arise is as follows:
The trainer does not manage his schedule well. In such a scenario, the member may fail to have adequate attention and his training can be affected. Furthermore, the another scenario may be that the health trainer is not updated with the latest technology leading to which the person may face problems and not able to improve his health effectively
The two motivational theories which will be discussed are the Hertzberg’s Two Factor Theory and the Maslow`s Hierarchy Needs theory.
The Two factor theory of motivation comprises of two major factors named the Motivator Factors and the Hygiene Factors. The motivator factors are the factors which lead to satisfaction and have a positive impact on the employees thereby insisting them to perform well (Wery & Thomson, 2013). The different examples may include enjoying work, feeling recognized and achieving career progression.
The hygiene factors are the factors which lead to dissatisfaction and they lack motivation if there are not fulfilled. These include examples like salary, company policies, benefits and relationships with managers are maintained effectively. The motivating factors act in a positive manner whereas the hygiene factors do not act in appositive manner.
Jetts fitness can apply the given by motivating the employees effectively and making the working conditions appropriate. All issues that cause problems in the workplace need to be removed effectively.
The Hierarchy of Needs was a theory which was coined by Abraham Maslow in 1943 based on the basic crux that the needs of the employees which are basic in nature need to be met before they are influenced to achieve higher levels.
The five levels are as follows:
- Physiological- Needs such as food, water and shelter
- Safety- personal and financial security
- Love- need for friendships and family (WINTER, 2018)
- Esteem- need to feel confident and respected
Self-actualization- Need to achieve everything one can possibly.
How to apply it to the workplace
The given can be applied to the workplace by ensuring that the lower level needs are satisfied first followed by the other needs.
An organization functions in a dynamic environment whereby the organization needs to ensure that the different members work well and that they contribute effectively to the future of the organization. The decisions are made well in time in order to ensure that they lead to the welfare of the organization. The organization leaders need to take crucial decisions in order to see to it that the stakeholders are satisfied.
Section 2: Professional Behavior
Hence, it is for this reason that relevant decision making plays a crucial role in the organization and that the future of the organization is considered appropriately (Brown & Capozza, 2016).
Sustainability refers to the mainly the vision and goals of the organization which are important for the welfare of the firm and its long run. It also tends to be relevant for areas like the program sustainability, product sustainability and personnel sustainability. Lastly is also important to ensure financial stability.
Each of these areas require relevant decisions to be made and adequate actions to be taken. Therefore, it is crucial that the right kind of decisions are made in each sphere in order to ensure that the sustainability in the organization is maintained (Sevincer, Kluge, & Oettingen, 2014). These areas are crucial for the long term welfare of the organization and thus they contribute towards success and sustainability by ensuring that personnel, product, program and financial position of the firm is strong.
Jetts Fitness can do this by ensuring that the management engages in strategic planning and decision making with respect to all the relevant areas of the business. This way they will be able to ensure that they are up to date with all relevant practices and that the organization is able to attain long term success in areas of product offerings, program designs, employee considerations and the finances
Conclusion
Therefore, from the given analysis it could be examined that the Jetts Fitness Centre which is based in different locations throughout New Zealand, Australia and other parts has been doing particularly well with respect the different ethical and professional considerations. Furthermore, the organization has different plans and needs to take different steps to ensure that the motivation of the employees is maintained. The last section of the report discussed the importance of strategic decision making in the sustainability of the organization.
