The Nursing Industry and its Place in Society
The job market of this 21st century is fast changing and the scopes for the youth to pursue their passion has been increasing. From the very childhood aspired to become a nurse in a reputed hospital. This is not only because of the fame and respect associated with this particular noble profession but also the opportunity to serve a lot of people in distress has make this profession it be more attractive to me. As a nurse I shall be able to promote health and help my patients to cope up with their illness. Health care occupation has a large industry in which the nurse profession plays the second most important role after the physicians and doctors.
The nursing industry has a lot to offer to the human kind. This is basically the most dependable industry which the health care system of every nation realizes and respect. The nursing industry advocates the issues related to health after the patents consult their physicians (Waddel et al., 2015). They are the health educator of the patients, their families as well as the whole communities. These nurses which providing care their patients directly, assess, observe and record all the necessary symptoms, their reactions to the treatment and progress of the illness. There are diverse kinds of treatments help the nurses provide to their clients. The seven main groups are hospital nurses, industrial or occupational nurses, office nurses, home health nurses, public health nurses, the nurse practitioners and nurse supervisors.
The hospital nurses mainly help the physicians to examine, treat and convalescence. They administer the medicines given by the physicians to the patients, assist the surgeons at the time of operations and take care of the most vulnerable patients without thinking of their own health (Cottrell, 2015). The registered nurses develop nursing plans and manage them efficiently. They instruct the patients as well as their families to take proper care. The nurses do not discriminate their patients on the basis of class, race, religion or ethnicity. They take similar care of the aboriginal communities rather put more effort on their recovery (Bing?Jonsson et al., 2015). This is due to the fact that these aboriginals do not have proper understanding of hygiene, they are financially and socially suppressed sections. moreover, they do not want to take any modern medical help rather believe on their traditional method of treatment. Hence the nursing industry aim to help this section of society.
Required Professional Skills in Nursing
The government of the country mainly take care of the nursing industry as they come under the healthcare policies and facilities. The governments have medical associations or regulatory bodies which is responsible for maintaining same regulation throughout the country and providing all the facilities that the nurses need in the government or private hospitals. These councils maintain the standard of working condition of these nurses and provide education and trainings in this highly technical era (Waddel et al., 2015). The broader public sees these associations with respect and trust as they realize the importance of such councils in making policies and guidelines to build an efficient nursing workforce within the country.
In the nursing sector of Australia, there are more than 386,629 employees in the 2016 to 2017 annual year which is more than ten thousand employees that the previous year (Papathanasiou, Tsaras & Sarafis, 2014). In this country, the nurses make up more than 56% of all the health practitioners which highlights the importance of this service (Foster et al., 2015). With the change in time, the training process, setting of workplace, responsibilities, culture and patient care system have been changed. Each of these things haves become attached with the all-inclusive growth of this industry in the country.
I am correctly pursuing bachelor’s degree in nursing hence want to join a reputed hospital. In doing so, I need to grow some professional skills which will help me in understanding the job role I will be holding in my professional life. This industry has a strict standard of regulations as well as code of ethics which have made this particular profession such noble and trustworthy. With the change of time, the responsibilities of the nurses have been changed (Fong, 2016). They are now responsible to provide mental support to the patients along with the administration on the medicines or therapeutic help. There are some competency standers set already set benchmark that assess the skills and knowledge of the nurses so that they can be incorporated in the health care industry. Therefore, I need to be well conversed with these practices so that I can prove myself to be a competent employee. Previously, the nurses used to be employed on the basis of their experience and skills to take care of the patients but now the educational qualification I mandatory (Cottrell, 2015). Hence, I need to study well and gain good scores so that I can be promoted to be a knowledgeable nurse to employ.
Adherence to Regulations in Nursing
From the interviews of variety of professional working in this field I have found that knowledge along with empathy towards the patents are the chief factors for being a successful nurse. The current job advertisement in my profession I have found that I need to grow the communication skill, flexibility, critical thinking process and attraction to details combined with continuous learning process need to grow in me so that I can become a successful medical professional and serve my patients more efficiently (Faris, 2018).
In order to understand the opportunities, I can grab in my profession, I need to judge all the possible aspect which makes me different from the rest (Hallam, 2016). One of the strengths in me that I have identified is my communication skill. I can handle tough situations with effective communication and negotiation skills. I shall use this skill in motivating my patients and pacify their families as they will be anxious regarding their health a wellbeing. On the negative part I can say that I am a very emotional person which may affect my care when I will see patient in severe illness. These are my strengths and weaknesses which have identified through various incidents in my student life.
