Research finding show that there are relationship between the use of drug and substance abuse and HIV/AIDS prevalence (NACADA, 2006), hence drug abuser get health effect. In west B district there a lot of area which has camp act as main station for these young who use drug abuse such as Mboriborini, Kinuni, Kwahani, Mwembe makumbi, Amanifresh and others.
Also drug act by directly affecting the brain or central nervous system (CNS) leading to various complication of health and behavioral problem (Sahu, 2011)
The drug can be used though different method in west B district the main method used by young are by smoking, Injection and also they can heat cocaine in foil the smoke which emit can be smelling, the drug abuse has been undermine the economic progress of west B district and result the criminal increase day to day in difference area like killing, robbery, prostitution
Rationale/Reason of Research
Main purpose of study is to determine the factor leading young generation at west B district of Unguja Zanzibar to use a drug abuse and effects on their health.
In west B district youth use more and highly drug compare to adult, So result development in the area is missing also criminal increasing like robbery. There are many factors leading youth to use drug abuse such as peer pressure
Also health effect such as disease, respiratory effect, lung cancer can be as their outcome after use this drug though different methods.
Problem statement
Statement of the problem attempt to focus on the study by providing the direction to research (kamili, 2016). Problem statement of research focus on factors which lead young generation of west B district to engaged on uses of drug abuse regardless to their age, health status, economic and other
Health problem that they get as outcome of using drug abuse in their life such as disease, respiratory problems, lung cancer, chest pain, TB and others
Research Objectives
Research objective aims to give summary of study what is achieved to study. Objective can be defined as the steps one has to take by one realistically at grass roots level within certain time span (Fouche& De vos, 2007)
There are both general and specific objectives (Kamili, 2016)
General objective
To determine factor leading drug abuse among young generation and their health effect at west B district
Specific objectives
The research will guide though the following specific objectives:-
- To determine factor leading drug abuse among young generation at west B district
- To determine relationship between age and uses of drug abuse
- To understand health effect after use drug abuse among young generation at west B district
- Challenge contributing the uses of drug abuse at west B district.
Research questions
This is focal question need to be answered during conducting research. A research question should be easy to understand and be able to be implemented on its own (Fouch? & De vos, 2005)
Research consisting of the following question:-
- What factors leading the uses of drug abuse at west B district?
- What is the relationship between ages and uses of drug abuse?
- To what extent the young generation engaging on uses of drug abuse at west B district?
- To what extent the drug abuser get effect on their health after use drug abuse?
Research Hypothesis
Hypotheses Is a formal statement that present the expected relationship between an independent and dependent variable (Creswell, 1994).According to (Kamili, 2016) who explain that “research hypotheses can be started in two ways: Null and Alternative hypothesis
Null hypothesis (H0)
- There is no relationship between age and use of drug abuse.
- There is no any health effect on uses of drug abuse.
Alternative hypothesis (H1)
- There is relationship between age and use of drug abuse.
- There is health effect on uses of drug abuse.
Scope of the study
In this part the researcher will be tell reader what will be included and excluded in the study. So scopes of the study it make researcher concentrate on important matter and avoid diversions (Kamili, 2016)
This study focus only on factors leading to drug abuse among young generation and its health effect at west B district.
Significance of study This study help to know factors cause youth to engaged on drug abuse also give understanding on its health effect result we may avoid it.
Limitation of the study Conduction of this study is very costfull because researcher cannot get true data without purchase money and research may get injured when he/she interviewing drug abuser like beating
LITERATURE REVIEW RELATED TO THE STUDY
In this chapter there are different literature related to the study. The purpose of the literature review is to share with reader the result of other studies (Creswell, 2009). Literature reviews related to this study are:-
Drug abuse among student. Zaman (2015) conducted study on Drug abuse among student, study was conducted just to determine uses of drug abuse among student. The questionnaire method was used as method of data collection in this study also cross sectional research design was used. So finding of this study show that is great dilemma among student and cause many health effect. But this study doesn’t show fact between drug abuse and sexually behavior.
Family factors and Peer Influence in drug Abuse: A study in Rehabilitation Centre. Foo.Y.C, Tam.C.L&Lee.TH (2012) was conducted study on Family factors and Peer Influence in drug Abuse: A study in Rehabilitation Centre just to determine how different factors have affected people in Malaysia. In this study the case study design was used and also questionnaire and interview was used as data collection method in which seven participants from rehabilitation was act as sample. This study adopted though qualitative study by descriptive survey design and also they use self administrated questionnaire in data collection, in which finding show that most learner from 15-20 years use a drugs. A part of conclusion Tshitangane & Tosin (2016) state that “The counseling program about drug abuse is needed each school” .The author doesn’t show Early detection of illicit drug used in youth.
Conceptual frame work of the study. Usually conceptual frame work is used to show the relationship between variable in the study
- Independent variables Dependent variable
- Uses of drug N lack of awareness
Introduction This is method used in research for data collection, which involves form of data collection, analysis and interpretation (Creswell, 2009)
Research design. This is planning or strategy which used in study, the research design used is descriptive survey design. Descriptive survey design used for collecting information about people altitude, opinions and habits (Kombo et al 2006)
Research Instrument The interview though face to face will be used to collecting data at west B district to the sample used in the study.
Study area The research will be conducting at west B district in different area within district though a different area where drug abusers located such as Kinuni ,Mboriborini ,Miembeni, Amani etc
Sampling techniques. The sample during conducting information will be conducted though Non probability sampling by using Snowball in which participant of drug abuse identify other users and also Random sampling.
Sample size According to population and housing census of 2012 west B district has 203,000 hence during the collection of data every 3 people will be interviewing in 9 common area in which mostly drug abuser are located.
Data collection Data will be collected from west B area and then sought the authority approval from university also attending to Department related to the drug abuse such as Zanzibar violence and drug abuse control just to get more information.
Data analysis Data that will be analyzing by using simple statistics of Microsoft excell
