Hence, it is essential for the management of firm to regularly motivate its workers so that they are able to influence customers towards firm and raise sales and profitability in market. Thus, motivation is considered as significant concept within business in order to make employees committed towards their job. There are different motivational factors such as rewards and awards that helps managers to maximize the output of business and thus achieve success (Analoui, 2000). Work motivation is crucial for employees as it helps them to remain focused towards their set targets and therefore attain organizational goals. The present research will be based upon to investigate the main factors of work motivation of retail managers at grocery retail business within Australian market. Thus, carrying out research on this subject is essential because there is tough competition in retail industry and therefore it helps in identifying the motivation factors so that retail managers could be satisfied and thus retain within firm for long term (Extrinsic Motivation, 2008).
Aim-To investigate the main factors of work motivation of retail managers at grocery retail organization in the Australian market”.
- To assess the factors that limit the ability of retailers to keep valued employees and it is significant to understand the employee’s value, which causes them to stay and perform well.
- To explore the factors influencing motivation of retail managers in different retail organization in Australian market.
- To identify the demographic factors that impacts retail managers work motivation.
The scope of study is very wide as not many researches have been done on the particular subject. However, motivation have been chosen as the subject matter but work motivation of retail managers at grocery retail organization has not been chosen and therefore, it is considered as significant aspect that helps in carrying out the study up to a great extent. Further, this topic also helps in understanding the values of employees in respect to help employees stay and perform well (Arnolds and Boshoff, 2001). Also, different factors of motivation have been identified that helps in influencing the retail managers in different form so that they could be able to sustain the business in market.
Factors that limit the ability of retailers to keep valued employees and it is significant to understand the employee’s value, which causes them to stay and perform well
According to the opinion of Buitendach And De Witte, (2005), it has been assessed that there are varied factors that limits the ability of retailers to keep valued employees so that they could retain loyal customers within firm. It is essential for business to encourage its workers so that they could satisfy the needs of customers and thus sustain long term in market. However, keeping valued employees is crucial part as unskilled workers are not an asset for any firm (Buitendach And De Witte, 2005). Therefore, each and every organization focuses upon keeping skilled and valued employees so that they could be inspired to provide best quality services to customers and retain them within firm. However, Arnolds and Boshoff, (2001), argued that management is required to understand the value of its employees otherwise it discourages them and influence them to move towards rival firms. While, if business understands employees value and thus it causes them to stay and perform well helps in improving their satisfaction level so that desired results could be attained (Arnolds and Boshoff, 2001).
Research Objectives
As per the view of Mehta, Anderson and Dubinsky (2000), it is essential for retail businesses to keep valued employees and thus helps in improving the performance of firm in market. Also, if firm would be focused upon retaining valued employees it would help in causing them to stay and perform well so that desired objectives could be attained (Mehta, Anderson and Dubinsky, 2000). Thus, it is essential for firm to understand the need of its workers so that they could satisfy their needs and thus attain organizational goals. Johnson, (2005), argued that businesses are focused upon valuing its workers and providing them appropriate training so that their skills and abilities could be improved which results in retaining its workers and performing within firm efficiently. Thus, it is stated as crucial aspect which results in valuing skilled workers and retaining them within business so that they could provide desired services to customers and thus sustain within market for long term (Johnson, 2005).
Factors influencing motivation of retail managers in different retail organization in Australian market
As per the opinion of Khan and et. al., (2015), it assesses that there are various factors that influences that motivation of retail managers in different retail businesses within Australian market help in improving the efficiency of firm in market. Therefore, it is essential for business to adopt an effective factor that encourages its workers in terms of satisfying the needs of customers and thus attain business targets (Khan and et. al., 2015). Also, it assesses that there are varied retail businesses and all of them need to value their workers in order to improve their position within Australian market. Pinder (2014), argued that management of firm needs to decide that intrinsic and extrinsic factors of motivation helps in improving the encouragement level of workers and thus it helps in improving their satisfaction level. Therefore, implementing such strategy helps in raising their satisfaction level so that desired results could be attained (Pinder, 2014).
According to the viewpoint of Gagne (2014), it identifies that there are different factors that encourages workers within retail firms and thus influences them so that success could be attained. Thus, implementing intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is considered as crucial factor and thus it leads to satisfy the needs of workers and attain satisfaction within business. There are different retail businesses and therefore, it is essential for them to value its workers and provide them motivation factors so that it helps them to retain them within firm for long term (Gagne, 2014). It is the best way through which employees could understand the needs of its workers and thus provide them desired products or services so that satisfaction level could be enhanced. However, SansonE and Harackiewicz (2000), argued that providing intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to workers, retail businesses could satisfy their needs and thus attain desired results. It is the best way through which retail businesses of Australia could satisfy the needs of its workers and thus attain employee satisfaction. Retail businesses are required to encourage its employees in order to help them retaining within firm for long term (Sansone and Harackiewicz, 2000).
Scope of Study
Identify the demographic factors that impacts retail managers work motivation
Oosthuizen (2001), stated that there are various demographic factors that impacts upon the retail managers work motivation and thus influences them to enhance their skills and abilities so that success could be attained. However, it is significant for business to adopt effective practices in relation to improve the skills and capabilities of retail managers work motivation and thus raise their skills so that they could be retained within firm for long term (Oosthuizen, 2001). Also, work motivation is stated as crucial aspect and therefore, it helps in raising the satisfaction level of workers within retail businesses. However, Easterby-Smith, Thorpe and Lowe (2002), argued that there are different theories such as Herzberg two facto theory that helps in encouraging workers in relation to fulfill the individual’s needs and objectives so that desired results could be attained. Further, applying such theory it helps in improving the satisfaction level of workers and thus help them in assessing the needs of customers so that they could be satisfied by providing right product at right time (Easterby-Smith, Thorpe and Lowe, 2002).
According to the view of Sempane, Rieger and Roodt (2002), applying Herzberg two factor theory helps in identifying the factors that impact retail managers work motivation so that it helps in improving their performance up to great extent. It helps in identifying the specific things so that it encourages individual and their needs so that success could be attained. Main focus of implementing such theory helps in identifying the need of individual and their relative strength so that they could pursue the set goal i.e. attain customer satisfaction and retain skilled employees (Sempane, Rieger and Roodt, 2002). Hence, it could be assessed that demographic factors helps in improving the performance of retail managers in market and thus increases their satisfaction level so that they could be encouraged through working within firm and thus sustain for long time period. Work motivation is being stated as crucial factor that helps in improving the satisfaction level of workers and thus it leads to increase the sales and profitability of firm in market.

Research methodology is considered as crucial tool that helps in carrying out the research in order to achieve desired aims and objectives. It involves different techniques such as research design, strategy, sampling, sample size, data collection and analysis that would help researcher in obtaining positive outcomes (Zikmund, 2003).
- Research design- It involves different types of research design techniques such as descriptive, experimental and exploratory. Thus, in the present study researcher will choose descriptive research design that would helps them to carry out descriptive research upon factors of work motivation of retail manager’s at large grocery retail business in Australian market. Selecting such topic requires researcher to carry out descriptive analysis of different concepts so that set outcomes could be attained (Flick, 2015).
- Research type- It is the another tool that is being used by researcher in order to perform the investigation in an effective manner. Thus, adopting suitable research type helps scholar to enhance knowledge in regard to attain desired results (Ireland, Webb and Coombs, 2005). There are two different types of qualitative and quantitative research type which helps research to obtain crucial decision. In the present research, research will choose both qualitative and quantitative research type because it is useful for researcher to accomplish the study. For this research questionnaire will be proposed so that research could be conducted in an effective way.
- Data analysis- Further, it is another tool that helps in carrying out the practice so that it helps individual to collect desired information with the help of different sources and interpret the outcomes effectively and efficiently. In the current research, thematic analysis as well as statistical tool will be used in order to obtain responses of the questions asked within questionnaire upon factors of work motivation of retail manager’s at large grocery retail business in Australian market (Sobh and Perry, 2006).
- Data collection- In data collection, researcher obtains two different methods i.e. primary and secondary through which data will be collected. However, primary research will be done through using survey method while, secondary research will be done through online blogs, articles, literature etc (Weischedel, Matear and Deans, 2005).
- Sample and sampling size- Here, the sampling method which will be selected is random sampling method through which sample will be randomly selected from the whole population. While, in order to analyze the Then, for carrying out qualitative research thematic analysis will be done (Zikmund, 2003). While, in order to analyze the factors of work motivation of retail manager’s at large grocery retail business in Australian market, sample size of 50 managers will be selected and thus collect their responses in an effective way.
- Reliability and validity- It is essential for researcher to undertake effective research and thus assess that they will obtain the outcomes from reliable sources and do not collect data from unauthorized websites. However, they would not collect data from the websites through which data could not be accessed (Ireland, Webb and Coombs, 2005). Also, validity is required to be identified by researcher of the outcomes obtained. They should not copy and paste the research from other researches while they should generate their own work.
There are several limitations found within the research in relation to time, money and thus such issue is being faced by researcher while completing the study. Time is one of the main constraint of research and therefore, it is essential for scholar to complete the study on time so that it could be utilized by businesses and other scholars to gain information upon the subject matter. Further, money is the major limitation found within the accomplishment of study. Researcher requires huge amount of funds in terms of completing the research upon the selected topic therefore impacts upon the study (Sobh and Perry, 2006). Here, in the present study findings are specific to few grocery retail businesses; therefore it could not be generalized by all the retail managers in the industry. Moreover, research only focuses upon retail managers employed within the limited business, thus the findings could be applicable to such organizations only. Further, study also focuses only upon content theories of motivation and more specifically Herzberg two factor theory and does not consider the impact of process theories upon work motivation. Another limitation that is being faced is in the form of literature review to the comparison between findings from the retail managers in Australian market only.
It is very difficult to ascertain the timing of project because it is difficult task for completing the dissertation on the scheduled time. Following is the preparation of time schedule which shows the different diversification such as-
