Step 2: Using what you learned from ResearchQuest, present your argument for the origin of the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry in the text box below. Your write-up should be ~400-500 words.
Make sure you account for why there is such an abundance of certain species of dinosaurs. In other words, what factors may have been at work to cause the formation of this magnificent assemblage of fossils? Things to think about include: 1) the different kinds of dinosaurs preserved; 2) the degree of skeletal disarticulation (i.e., whether the bones are preserved as complete skeletons, a jumbled mix-up of elements from different species, or something in between); and 3) the nature of the sediments around the bones. Is the rock composed mostly of ancient muds, suggesting one type of environment, or sands, suggestive of another? So once again, bring together as many lines of evidence as possible to support your view.
