The Happiness and Well-being Test Results
Activity summary: The measurement I am focusing on in this part is the happiness and well-being I felt in the past 24 hours. The ratio of my test was below 3, which indicated that I fall with the majority (80 %) of U.S citizens whose positivity index is low. It is a self-help index that evaluates the positive and negative emotions I have felt in the past 24 hours and gave me an indication of my thoughts. During and after the test I understood that I am someone who is neither here nor there when it comes to my everyday life. I see that sometimes my happiness sprouts from small things which makes me appreciate them more while on the other hand the lows and negatives are equally influential that leave me drained and hopeless. It helped me understand that I am not alone in feeling this way but also motivated me to get into a better position when it comes to taking life and seizing it with my all and experiencing happiness in my day-to-day life. The test was simple and I did not feel challenged rather it made me curious as to what the results will be. I think there are very few people who are content with the way they feel about themselves or about the environments they live in, most people in today’s world are prone to feeling fleeting moments of happiness but most of it is shrouded in melancholia and feeling lost just like me who got an equal distribution of positive and negative outcomes in the index.
Positive psychology emphasizes how to use the power of perspective shifts to increase the possibility for pleasure in several of our daily activities. Positive psychologists aim to promote satisfaction and well-being in the present by conditionality of one’s history, enthusiasm, and enthusiasm for one’s future outcomes. Happiness, well-being, quality of life (Eudemonia), contentment, and meaningful living are all related ideas, it not only gives a framework, but also behavioral solutions for a better, more fulfilling existence (Lambert, Passmore & holder, 2015). Barbara Fredrickson’s study describes optimism and how that might change people’s lives. Her study indicates a 3 to 1 positive ratio was best for elevated teams, partnerships, and unions. Fredrickson describes how this relative ratio of good to negative thoughts leads to humans achieving optimal levels of well-being and perseverance. Delivering a scientifically solid test and prescriptions for pleasure, well-being, and productivity and utilizing it to generate enjoyment to alter people’s lives, with outstanding lab studies. The positivity test stands as a self-help evaluation and guide to move towards optimism and correcting what we might think needs to be worked on and achieving our best.
Application to personal or professional issues: In my opinion, I need to regularise a deliberate practice of thankfulness and capitalize on my skills if I wish to apply positive psychology into my career and personal life. This will assist me in developing resilience and refocusing my attention on the things that make me happy rather than bemoaning the things that make me unhappy and forming negative attitudes. Modesty too helps when working with others as it is a practice that helps social trust and a humble attitude. I will be able to increase the positive outcomes and experiences by including purposeful and fun activities (Reading, dancing, cycling, swimming, sports activities that might help physical well-being as well as a sound mind) that make me feel good and help me minimize stress. In case of mental health issues, I should seek assistance talk to friends or family and find a (Luthans & Frey, 2017).purpose to get myself on track. When it comes to my working life, de-cluttering and organizing myself will benefit me, it will help me be more productive and in control of my actions if I have an organized workspace. Having an agenda will help me be more productive and in control of my activities. While journaling every day may get tiresome, I should develop to-do lists and set short-term goals that, if achieved, will provide me with a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence (Der kinderen & Khapova, 2019). If I work smart rather than just working hard it will aid me in not experiencing burnout during stressful deadlines. Prioritizing what needs to be accomplished and maintaining a balance between my personal and work life will bring about a sense of contentment.
Understanding Positive Psychology
Activity summary: This activity focuses on our character strengths and measures of creativity. The VIA tool helped me recognize my character strengths and helped me how to use them to my advantage. It is also used to gauge the strength of gratitude which not only means to feel good but also is an attribute that inspires us to do good. Both the activities were able to help me understand how my creative process work and where my strength lies to help me hone them better and in understanding the lesser skills that I possess but need to work on. After taking the test I understood that my character is brave, someone who likes to take on challenges while being fearless. I also could understand that I am quite creative when it comes to finding solutions and can actively think on my feet when I am faced with a certain challenge. At first, the second test was confusing, but as I thought about it, I could derive answers reasonably. It proved to be a test that appreciate the qualities that I possess and motivated me to capitalize on them. I could also understand that the attributes that are related to the strengths of the heart are related to life satisfaction and happiness while the strengths that are related to acquiring knowledge and curiosity were not in correlation to happiness but can equally help in coping in the everyday life.
Positive psychology provides viable options. It aims to widen psychotherapy’s viewpoints by concentrating on positive subjective experiences and the individual’s creative power. well-being and creativity are both very important for humankind. The character strength activity not only confirms the favorable association between creativity and happiness but also shows that creativity improves subjective happiness (Holm-Hadulla, 2020). Predispositions were connected to a number of well-being factors, including emotional character strengths that contribute to autonomy and intellectual character strengths that contribute to personal development. the tool is positive psychology’s equivalent of the DSM, which is used in a lot of traditional psychology. but, unlike the DAM that defines human deficiencies and diseases scientifically. The tool asses’ the positive qualities of human beings. This method differs significantly from the traditional medical paradigm, which aims to focus on resolving deficiencies. It focuses on what people should concentrate on and what they can do well while expanding on it. Wisdom, appreciation, enthusiasm, faith, and love were found to be the most powerful predictors of subjective wellbeing, positive mood, affect balance, environmental mastery, sense of purpose in life, and self-acceptance (Martínez-Martí et al, 2020). These collections of abilities give our life significance, as a result, thinking oneself a spiritual person and finding meaning in everyday life boosts one’s general feeling of well-being by giving an individual’s life a purpose and increasing optimism (Azanedo et al., 2021). These character strengths guard the individuals against the negative effects of stress and depression and help individuals to be productive and function in the very best way.
Application to personal and professional issues: From the assessment, I learned that if I manage my time well, I will be able to materialize what I desire to achieve. These strengths aid in reducing stress which correlates to better functioning and freeing ourselves to pursue to do things that we love. Building on these strengths becomes imminent if we want our personal and work lives to have a balanced outcome. According to me, the character strengths that are much more applicable in my work life would differ from my private life. Virtues like knowledge, wisdom, and perseverance are things that I should apply in my work life, while strengths that are related to humanity, courage, empathy, and love are much more applicable in my private life. By applying and mastering these strengths I could live a life that is much more serene yet productive (Wagner, Pindeus & Ruch, 2021). The strengths that I apply in my work life will give job satisfaction and will encourage positive experiences boosting not only my happiness but also the quality of work. by infusing gratitude and appreciation of my accomplishments and also of others I will be in a position to derive much satisfaction and positive attitudes. If in an educational setting it will aid me in better performance and getting enough confidence to face any challenges. Using creativity and appropriate knowledge in my projects and assignments can be a factor that boosts motivation (Harzer and Ruch, 2015). There are of course limitations and struggles that are present, the creativity that I perceive to work might not sit well with others, my risk-taking abilities and brave attitude might be too much of a problem for my co-workers but it all depends on how I use it. This is where wisdom and leadership skills play their part, working with clarity and with a vision will help me gain others’ confidence and work towards achieving the goal along with others.
Applying Positive Psychology to Personal and Professional Issues
Activity summary: I learned through this assessment that I am someone who forgives people quickly but has a hard time forgiving oneself for bad mistakes. The constructs that I build around my behavior are much more enhanced and I need to work on treating myself as another individual who needs to work towards healing. When I do this, it will allow me to free myself and be more accepting about unforeseen things or things I don’t understand. I also learned that people around me would be much more at ease if I let myself be reciprocal towards them when they are suffering and can be a friend, partner, or someone whom they can rely on when they need help. Building trust and actively letting go of being a victim who is governed by negative energy I along with others can work towards concentrating on the goals in a much healthier way. The test also showed how I can work on these attributes and what areas in my psyche need a change of behavior and attitude. Most people fail to realize this but by not forgiving we build a wall around ourselves, a thing or our own doing and this makes us lash out and feel suffocated, by realizing the hurt and anger we can free ourselves and lead a life that is much more peaceful. I can focus on becoming much stronger so that I do not allow myself or anyone else to be caught in a situation that is of terrible compromise or pain (Marks, Trafimow, and Busche, 2013).

It does not imply forgetting or dismissing the hurt that we have suffered, nor does it imply making amends with the individual who had inflicted it but instead it provides a sense of calm that allows us to go on with our lives and not feel suffocated with our own negative thoughts. people suffer less hurt rage, tensions, and sadness when they try to forgive. Forgivers are more cheerful, empathetic, and optimistic, as well as have better conflict management abilities. Forgives enable us to reclaim our power and direct our energies and emotions that we might have spent on a person or circumstances to better things that can not only give mental peace but also positively affects physical well-being (Fincham & may, 2019). A person who can forgive can change the valence of their emotional responses from negative to neutral and eventually to positive outcomes or vice versa. Self-forgiveness was found linked to higher self-esteem, decreased anxiety, sadness, and a more optimistic outlook on others. Repentance is associated with improved psychological health functioning, self-development, and many advantages in terms of improving cognitive and emotional health. This not only reduces the mental anguish related to past hurts and offenses, but it also provides much more gratification and a sense of fulfillment in allowing the situation to go, which can be used to improve an individual’s optimal functioning (Hasan and Tiwari, 2019).

Giving, helping people, and generally being kind might improve the giver’s well-being and is linked to improved life satisfaction, contentment, and positive outcomes as well as a reduction in depression. The concept known as resentfulness (the combination of negative emotions, sentiments, and motives against a transgressor) is substituted with pleasant, other-oriented feelings such as empathy or understanding in a process referred to as emotional forgiveness. Individuals who are in a bad mood might improve their moods by following tactics such as assisting others or acting pragmatically. Whenever people are experiencing bad affect or emotions, according to the negative state relief model (Batson et al, 1989), they will act prosocially in an attempt to improve their mood. When our mood improves, we set greater objectives and work harder to achieve them while displaying prosocial behaviours ( Friedlin & Littman-Ovadia, 2020). We are less stressed and tired, and we work together and solve problems better as a team. Emotional intelligence is the capacity to perceive and comprehend thoughts, which may be utilized to help cognitive factors that promote intellectual as well as emotional growth. It is essential in the organization because of the social aspect of employee engagement (Heintz & Ruch, 2020). Because of the social element of job interactions, emotional intelligence is required to work successfully with colleagues. Whenever individuals collaborate effectively by synchronizing their efforts, performance management increases, and there are economic benefits as a consequence. Employees with high emotional intelligence are good at recognizing when others want assistance and are much more eager to assist for intrinsic reasons. Employees with a high level of fairness might be requested to act as an advocate or opposition parties. Those with a high level of imagination can take on difficulties that require new approaches. Those with a high level of caution can be requested to assess the “creative” ideas proposed by others (Zubair & kamal, 2015). Functioning in a “flow” may be so gratifying that individuals are prepared to do it simply for the purpose of doing it. Whenever people can successfully employ their strengths for the work at hand, they feel inflow (Farina, Rodrigues & Hutz, 2018). Individuals who think and show appreciation are also more positive and will make greater progress toward their goals. Furthermore, humans are born with an innate resilience that permits them to grow. Furthermore, humans have an innate resiliency that allows them to operate even in the face of hardship, and they might experience happy emotions merely by seeing a co-worker’s accomplishment (Lopez, Pedrotti & Synder, 2018). A management program based on the Positive Psychology model can aid in the development of such a mindset, but if carried too far, it can implode. Real-life is a mix of positive and negative attitudes and impulses, and ignoring the bad in favor of the good can have unintended and counterproductive repercussions. Positive emotion may counterbalance the impact of bad emotions and even fight physiological sickness. However, Positive Psychology knows that happiness is an unrealistic goal that can contribute to sadness if pursued. That goal can lead to a person suppressing emotional material that is both instructive and valuable, but that is also harmful (Wong & Roy, 2017). Rather than disappearing, emotional content recedes into the subconscious, where it may resurface at inopportune times.
