Building the lost reputation is one of the major aspects in any hospitality business. Tropical hotels are one of the most pristine and mesmerizing spots that the tourist love to visit. This is mainly because of the peace and calmness that they might be deriving in the midst of the lush green tropical vegetation. However it is often tough for the tropical hotels to keep up the standards of their customer’s expectations. Thus, they hotel managers have to give their full effort in order to develop the hotels (Jones etb al., 2017).I am working as the General Manager of this hotel chain and I have realized that there are some problems that are affecting the reputation of this place. It is for this reason that I am assigned with the responsibility of taking some steps that might help the hotel to regain the lost reputation and the fame.
I will be selecting this as the first option because I feel that the hotel is currently in a very bad position. Thus, I will be taking up this option in the initial position. This will help me in deciding my first step in a proper organized manner. I will have to ask for more time and see if there are some options in which we can raise more funds in order to make sure that the hotel is being refurnished. I have realized that the franchise executives are really upset with the fact that the property is at a poor condition. I will try to make some approach to the franchise executives. I will ask for some time from the franchise executives so that we can take some time in order to see if we can make up the loss. I will try to start some activities like employee training development, resource allocation and distribution and other such activities. This will perhaps be helpful in making the employees trained for replenishing this loss. I have realized that there is a huge problem regarding the amount of funds that are needed for the maintenance of the hotel. As the hotel is located in a tropical place, I will try my level best to get all the necessary resources that are required for the development of the property.
This will be the second last option because this is very tough decision to be implemented at this time. This is mainly because the franchise owners are of the opinion that the property is now at a very weak condition. Being the General Manager, I cannot really afford to take up this risk. I have realized that this is a very tough and competitive market. There are already many other branches of this similar hotel that are working under the same franchise. Apart from this, the hotels in the tropical land are always in a very great demand. Thus, the most important thing that can be done in this position is to make sure that we are trying to repair the lost reputation and the damaged reputation of this place.
Other Alternatives for Saving a Tropical Hotel
I am working as a General Manager of this hotel so I will try my best to regain the lost reputation of this place. I have kept this option at the end because I do not consider leaving the situation just as there are some issues that are being faced by the hotel. I will try to arrange for a special investigation team that will help in finding the falsifications that are being done in the capital fund of the hotel (Lara et al., 2016). I have realized that the owners of the hotel are not being honest in their endeavors. They are using the major amounts of the money for their personal benefits. Apart from this, they owners are not paying any attention towards the refurnishing or the maintenance of the hotels. Thus, I will try to find out the falsifications that are being made in the capital fund. I will try to play the role of an ideal leader by staying true to my responsibilities.
I have to make sure that I am using all the possible methods that can be used for the purpose of making sure that this hotel is developed from its current state. It is for this reason that I have also enlisted some of other measures that can be used for dealing with this situation.I will arrange for some press and media in that place. This is mainly because of the fact that I cannot allow a bad review of the hotel. This is one of the most crucial steps that must be taken in order to make sure that the customers are not getting any bad or negative review about this hotel. The owners might use this same method in order to spread false news about the reputation of the hotel. The owners have already been involved in adultery. They might spread wrong news regarding the lack of capital investment. Thus, I think that this will be a very good step in order to make the customers and the competitors know the real reasons behind the poor reputation of the hotel. I will also make use of the advanced digital sites in order to reach out to a wide number of audiences. I have seen that sites like the trip advisor, Google plus and the respective sites of then hotels gives a detailed review of the hotels. Thus, I will try my level best to make sure that the media does not start spreading any bad rumors about the reputation of the hotel.
I will be using the criticism in a constructive way; I will make sure that I am trying my best to use this criticism for the overall development of the hotel. I will also try to gather good investors and sponsors who will be eager in providing funds that will help in reshaping the hotel. Apart from this I will also try to bring a team of auditors who will be helping in finding out the errors in the total budget of the hotel (Doorley & Garcia, 2015). The hotel owners will be asked to take part in this process and render their full cooperation. This will enable the auditors in finding out the exact amount of money that is being taken away from the hotel fund.
Plan of Action
I will also arrange for a seminar where I will be calling the managers and the staffs of the nearby hotels. I will make sure that I am inviting the staffs of the tropical hotels. They will help me and my staffs in getting some good tips of how to re furnish the hotel. These seminars and the workshops will be very beneficial for getting back the lost reputation of this place. It is always good to get the important tips from the other contemporaries.
Employee organization and employee benefit schemes must also be enhanced. In order to regain the lost prestige and position of the hotel, the employees have to be encouraged properly. Unless they are encouraged they will not agree in paying more labor. It is for this reason that I will arrange for proper skill development program and will also try to arrange or some new employment benefit programs. This will help the employees in regaining the lost interest and they will be performing in a very nice manner.
What objective are you trying to achieve
This is one of the most important steps of taking a good decision. This is the initial building blocking taking a good decision. I always like to move forward in a step by step manner. I decided my objective in a proper way. I realized that my prior objective was to find out a suitable solution to this problem (Dell’Atti et al., 2016). I have realized that the reputation of the hotel is at stake. This, it is for this reason that I will have to take then proper steps for dealing with this problem. I also realized that the main objective of my decision will be to make sure that the hotels able to up a strong competition for their competitors (Hernandez & Hudson, 2015). Thus my decision must be such that will be for the welfare of the overall organization.
I have realized that there are some other kinds of solution that can b used by the hotel. Apart from starting a new independent business, I can go for a proper talent management program within the company (Martin et al., 2015). I can do this by setting up proper training sessions for the employees. This will help in developing the overall expertise of the employees. In order to do this, I will need proper funds. This can be done by doing an in depth audit analysis of the total capital fund of the company.
This is one of the most important things that can be done in order to make sure that the hotel is being able to perform in a proper manner. HR department is one of the most important functions for developing the overall functioning of the hotel. Talent management can be carried on properly of the HR officials focus on the employee retention and make sure that the employees are being groomed properly.
I will have to make sure that the decisions which I am making are connected with the goals that I am trying to achieve. The current situation is very armful for the hotel and in order to deal with it I have to make sure that I am taking decision for the welfare of the employees and not the customers alone. I have realized that in order to make sure that the hotel is not suffering at a loss, I will have to focus on the talent managing and the resource allocation if the hotel. I will try to refurnish the hotels I a proper way so that they can suit the mood of the customers of the tropical place. I will try to bring in the touch of the tropical island along with the taste of the other parts of the world. My goal is also to boost up the morale of the employees so that they can put in their full effort for the purpose of developing the overall reputation of the hotel.
I have realized that the best decision to make is to conduct an audit of the company. This will help in finding out the errors that are being made by the owners deliberately. I will try to make sure that the money is being utilized for the welfare of the hotel and not for the fulfilling of the personal needs of the owners.
Conclusion
Thus, it can be concluded that the hotel is currently in a poor position. However I feel that there are many ways through which the hotel can be reconstructed. We called for the executives from the franchise headquarters that had come for an inspection. They are of the opinion that the property is under serious damage and some serious steps are to be taken immediately. They have also warned that if some serious steps are not taken, then the hotel might be seized. It is for this reason that I decided to take some important steps. There are some of the alternative measures that have been found but I realized that we have to move forward in a step by step manner. I think that the alternative measures must be grouped in terms of priority
