In June 2013 Deloitte Consulting LLP’s training and development programme changed in such a manner that it started providing professionals with “a personalised list of formal learning, on-the job experiences, and networking plans to foster career advancement.” Now the focus was no longer in just developments but now professionals would get opportunities to further their studies and gain experience so as to enable them to get jobs easily.
My Development Plan manages professional development and therefore its value is that it provides professionals with the necessary learning and helps these professionals get to the highest possible level of education and on top of that it provides training which enables professionals to gain experience. All of this improves Deloitte’s organisational success.
There are two types of recruiting, internal and external recruiting. Internal recruiting(recruiting from inside) means trying as far as possible to recruit the existing staff to fill the vacancies and then outside people can only be appointed for lower level jobs.
External recruiting (recruiting from outside) means that that suitable applicants are looked outside of the business when a post becomes available. Therefore the organisational success could influence the recruitment of employees for Deloitte positively because then professionals who are helped by Deloitte can be recruited both internally (by Deloitte) and externally because they would be suitable applicants with the required experience.
Differences between mentoring and coaching
MENTORING COACHING
Longer term relationship between a mentor and mentee.
With reference to Deloitte, their programme has been running for years which makes it a mentorship programme. A short-term task based (task oriented).
It is development driven- Deloitte offers development learning and training for the future. 2. Coaching is performance driven.
Mentoring requires a design phase which is this case, Deloitte had to determine a strategic purpose for mentoring which was to help professionals gain knowledge and experience for future purposes. 3. This one does not require a design phase which means that it can be conducted immediately on any topic.
1.5 Deloitte as an accounting firm deals with clients so the emphasis on client service would benefit Deloitte because the professions will gain experience on how to deal with clients and therefore the reputation for Deloitte will go up since these professionals will be their products. These professionals could also end up working for Deloitte and lifting its brand up.
