Online Learning: The New Norm
Covid 19 has left the huge impact on the human life including work sectors, healthcare, education and even art. The impact has changed the human life drastically by changing the lifestyles and way of living. Everyone is required to deal with new rules, regulations and restriction (Prati & Mancini, 2021). Changes and impact were visible in every sectors specially education. Covid-19 affected the education system widely in 2 years. Millions of students of affected with this change. All the schools were shut down and the teachers and students were required to continuously the studies via online platforms. The changes made the online learning one of the regular things which was adapted by the students. The impact of the virus and the pandemic was strong and the individuals were asked to follow the guidelines provided by government (da Silva Junior et al., 2020). The only education became one of the major changes on the human life. By following the restrictions, the individuals were required to continue the studies online.
Online classes and learning become one of the pervasive parts of the growing world that resulted in closure of schools and less physical interaction with the teachers. The Covid-19attcak was a sudden attack most of the schools and individuals were unaware about the situation and how the situation can be fixed. Soon the authorities discovered the solution for continuing the studies by online classes and learning. The education system got changed completely including the learning and teaching methods. E-learning one of the regular things for the students where the teaching and learning was handled by digital platform instead of physical classes and platforms. The online classes and the processes have updated during the lockdown times (Paudel, 2021). Everyone was ordered to stay at home and continue education and the studies via online platforms (Hamulka et al., 2020). The students were not be able to connect to the outer world and interact with the teachers or classmates which is one of the main impact points on the education. The education system was changed completely, the curriculums were changed, lesson plan were modified, and new activities were planned for the students to make the individual more active with the educational activities (Butrime& Zuzeviciute, 2021).
The use of digital studies was rapidly increased which helped the students in continuing the studies during the pandemic. The online studies have also created the negative impact on the students. Some of the key impact points that has been found in this paper are- lack of motivation to study, infrastructural or technical problem, lack of interaction problems and change of course structure quality (Dani et al., 2020). The students had to adapt the online learning all of the sudden which was challenging for the individuals as it has the new processes, new goals and ne systems. The lack of motivation is one of the main issues of online learning that was faced by the students. Not only the lack of motivation adapting the technical activities in the short time period was also another challenge for students. There were a group of students in many counties who did not have the proper platform to conduct and adapt the learning; another group of students faced the technical difficulty to cope up with the situations and processes (Teele et al., 2021). The research also shows that that not only the technical difficulty the change in course structure and quality have also affected the students. The new system and process in many universities allowed the students to take help form the online sources and publications that made the online exams and lessons easy for the students.
Challenges Faced by Students
The (D. Parks 2020) suggests that during the covid-19 pandemic the students faced the huge education loss which is why the government was planning to resume the physical study facility. The study rapidly changed during the spring. Researchers showed that more than 500000 computer-based tests showed the change in the grade between 2019 and 2020 the comparison shows the lower-class students were affected more than the higher standard students. Most of the student are facing the difficulty in learning form the online classes and sources as the individuals were not able to interact with teachers and it created a huge gap in learning. The individuals were taking more time in learning from the online classes comparing to the physical classes and that affected the education of the students in a large scale in a very short period of time.
As per Idowu, Olawuyi, & Nwadioke (2020) the education sectors are responding to the significant demand of the students. There are a lot of different platforms that are offering different deals to the educators that makes the online study easier for the students. Educations has become easy for the students and that meles the course less impactful. The use of new digital platform has created the way for the students to cheat in exams and focus less on the studies (Qazi et al., 2021). There are different students who rely on the internet rather than studying individually. The other group of students who are not reliable on the internet find it hard to cope with all the digital activities by the educators. The individual struggles to deal and participate in the learning and that creates the education gap.
Figure 1: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed education forever (2022)
Online education- The way of delivering the education by the administrations using online platforms and internet. Online has expanded the facilities during the covid-19 pandemic which was important for continuing the education. Online education provides more flexibility to the students with better time management facility.
E- Learning platform- E-learning platforms are used for conducting the online studies. It is referred as the online portal with all the educational information. The platform includes the learning destination site and learning management system. The platforms provide the online live lectures from the educators (Chen et al., 2020).
Covid-19 impact- Covid 19 left the impact on the global industries by affecting more than 80 million people worldwide. Al the sectors were affected by the virus for two years among every age group, sex and race of people (Nácher eta al., 2022). The education and healthcare sectors were affected the most during the pandemic time.
The research aims to address and identify some of the key points like the impact of online education on the students in different age group, the impact of online education in different universities and how the negative impacts of online education can be mitigated (Logie, 2020). These following topics were not properly addressed in the previous literatures. The main objectives of the research are-
- To find and analyze the impact of online education on different age group of students. By this research objective the impacts on the different age group of students will be identified, the reason for the different impact among the different age group will be identified. The research will aim to find the reason of the impact on the students and the impact level of based on the age group of people.
- To find and measure the impact of online education in different universities. With this objective the impact of online education on the different universities will be measured. The different measurements will be compared based on the universities. This will aim to have the insights of the education report of students in different universities.
- To find the ways to mitigate the negative impact of online education. The research question will aim to have the insights of the reason for the negative impact on the students. The main objective of the question is to find out the way to mitigate the negative impact on the students and to provide the ways by which the online education can be improved with a recommendation. This will be done to find out the key sectors that can be reason for the negative on the students.
Opportunities Presented by Digital Education
For this research the chosen approach will be quantitative method for getting the correct information based on numerical values. The main reason for choosing the quantitative research method is to provide the exact option for collecting the non-numerical and numerical both information (Fan et al.,2020). This research method will be helping the individual in understanding the overall and depth information about the topic. There are different types of quantitative research methods that include online survey, paper survey, face to face interviews and website interceptors, longitudinal studies and information (Chen et al., 2020). For this research online surveys will be chosen that will record the responses from 100 students. The paper discusses about the impact of online education in different age group of students, the impact of online education in different universities and the ways to mitigate the negative impacts on the students (Sansa, 2020). The surveys will provide the current perspective idea of the students that will help in achieving the research aim. The surveys will assist the researcher with the real time values that will provide the exact desired results.
The sample here refers to the group of people that are used or taken form the large population for measurement. The sample should be provided with the proper information of the people involved in the research (Banna et al., 2022). There are different types of sampling in a research that includes or profitability sampling and purposive sampling. The chosen sampling here is the profitability sampling that allows one to make the strong statistical data and references about the whole group that actively assists in the process. The chosen audience for the sampling is the 100 students for conducting the research about how effective online education is during the pandemic. The research question will help in getting the data about the impact of online education among different age group (Mahdy, 2020). Another participant of this research can be considered are the local human being to get the results from surveys. The survey result will provide the information about the perspective of the local people on understanding the key factors of online education that creates the difference between different universities. The surveys will be done among all the students and local people of any age group to get the information like what are the possible cause of the negative impacts of online education on the students (Stukalo & Simakhova, 2020). While conducting the survey the key points which needs to keep in mind are that while conducting the surveys the individual may not provide the proper answer, the individual may not feel the need of providing the answers that is based on themselves and the uncertainty of the data can be considered as one of the main issues that the researcher may face while conducting the survey (Arora & Srinivasan, 2020). They survey can have another issue faced by the individual are availability of the group which one of the common issues, the proper group of people which will be used to perform the. The main population cannot be described or chosen. The respondents may use the biases to select it and analysis.
The study design is referred as the framework of methods that are used for analysing the variables. There are different types of study designs that address to the particular problems and topics. Each study designs have its own advantages and disadvantages. In this study the quantitative method has been used. The different types of quantitative research are descriptive, comparative, experimental and correlational (Pokhrel & Chhetri, 2021).
The main purpose of choosing quantitative reassert is that it will provide the exact data with the real time data. Among the types of quantitative research, the chosen methods is descriptive research. It includes the description of the characters and the variables or the characters of the study (Johnson et al., 2020). The method will assist in providing the information about the current situation of the online education. One of the main characteristics of descriptive study is the cross-sectional study where the different sections are studied and included from the different groups and studies. That be helpful in conducting the information about the impact of online study on the different age group. The information will be taken from different sources and individuals to ensure the intensity of the impact on the different age group. The characteristics of the research also conducts the measurements of data. In order to research the area of age group the descriptive research is required as this design has the capability of researching the statistical data which is required here to analysis the impact ratio on the students.
Descriptive designs also add the different responses from different groups by conducting surveys and asking general questions in the surveys which provides the perspective of different people (Al Thani et al., 2019). Knowing the perspective of different people is important in this research specially the perspective the different students.
During Covid 19 the students were facing the issues of not having proper classes offline. The initiative of online studies. Online steadies have helped the students in a lot f ways but it also has the different impact on the different age group of people which will be analyzed in this study (Siedlecki, 2020). The study will be done by the existing information and conducting the different information from different entities which will also save time for the individuals.
There are different types of methods in descriptive research that include case study analysis, survey and observational methods. For this research the survey approach will be chosen (McBride et al., 2021). The survey refers to the answers through the different entities or persons through the questionnaires and polls. Survey is referred as one of the popular research methods. The surveys usually include the different feedback collections from different respondents. In this research the different responses will be collected from the local students of different age group and the opinion of other groups will also be taken. The responses will be mixed with open ended questions and close ended questions. Open ended questions refer to the questions that cannot be answered in ‘yes’ or ‘no’. The close eneded question refer to the questions that can be answered in ‘yes’ or ‘no’ responses (Sizoo et al., (2020).
The main research question here were the to find the impact of online education on the different age group of students by identifying the factors that creates the differences between the two age group of people. In order to find out the survey needs to be conducted between the different age group particularly and to understand the factors that affect or creates the impact the survey will be required with proper questions (Mbunge, 2020). Not only the factors as the quantitative research focuses on the statistical data so it will be beneficial for the individual to understand and examine the level of impact on each group. It will not only take the measurements from the students but also take the measurements from the people from different group that can be teachers or working entities (Jazieh et all., 2020).
Another research question of this study that is focused on is to find and measure the impact of online education on the different universities and how these are different from each other. In order to analyses the impact on the different universities the measurements of different universities will be taken through the surveys. The surveys of the University students and professors will ensure the impact ratio of online education and will ensure if it was a positive impact or negative and level of the negative impact on the Universities.
The third research question focuses on finding out the ways to mitigate the issue of online education like the negative impact of online studies (Gordon et al., 2020). The surveys and the research approach will be helping in getting the insights of the insights how the universities work and what were that were made during the covid 19 pandemic. The surveys will confirm the information about the universities that are required to analyze the issue of online education to provide the migration ways.
The data collection process refers to the procedure for executing the steps research. Theoretically it is the process of collecting, measuring the information based on the interest and requirements. It is refereed as the established systematic way that enables the individual to answer on the research questions and test to evaluate the outcomes (Prommegger et al., 2021).
In this research the chosen approach of the data collection process is survey which will be done by following four major steps. The steps include setting the clear objective like making the important questions that are required to be answered for the research. The goals will be determined which is important and plays an important role in making the survey success and productive.
Once the goals and purpose of survey is set the question type is decided and the participants will be invited to follow the survey. To engage more followers the distribution process will be set to get more participants (Pratama et al., 2020). To make the distribution method emails and sums will be sent to different participants for a wider range of participants.
Monitoring the participant’s response rate will also be done. As the final size of the sample will also depend on this. Once the survey responses are gathered the results will be analyzed for getting the insights of the Universities about the online study impact on the students. The text analysis will be used to get the results of the open-ended questions to get the most comfortable common response. The online surveys will help in sorting the data automatically which will help in analyzing the research results right away.
The presented data will be used to provide the results of graphs and charts as it will help in analyzing the results quickly. The final results will be done after conducting the online surveys on the students and local entities of different universities. The report will be made by using some of the secondary data as well.
The research will, be done by using the secondary data as well as primary data that will be conducted by the surveys understanding the opinion of different people of the university. In order to reduce the risk of using the primary data the secondary data will be used. The secondary data will include the already exist in literature that have been confirmed and researched by the other researchers. As the research will be done by using the secondary data it will ensure the efficiency data. As the research will be done in a specific time, secondary data will help in saving time, effort and expenses of the project. In order to analyze the impact of online studies in the students it is important for the students more data is required which can be provided by the secondary research.
It becomes very troublesome and time consuming to conduct a research via primary research only. Previous and preexisting data will be used for the confirmation of the processes. The data will be collected by following the pre-existing journeys and other information from different websites. Different schools and organization data will be used also to provide details of the report on Covid 19 impact on the studies and exams. These research is based on data from the students and it is important to get the detailed data from the particular group of entities to make the research efficient in order to get the detailed data both primary and secondary research approach will be taken as both provides the different benefits for the researchers to make the research effective and efficient. The primary data will be collected by following the steps of survey and having the honest opinion of the entities. Ten secondary data will be used to ensure the collected data is correct.

There are different approaches to conduct a research. In this research the impact of online studies among students during Covid-19. The problem area or research areas of this paper is the impact of online education among the students during Covid 19. The key problem areas will be identified first. Once key areas are identified the chosen literature will be reviewed to get the idea of previous researches. Literature review is one of the longest stages of conducting a research. The review has been checked before starting the research on whether it has been already done or not. Similar articles will be selected of similar topics. Apart from that the literature review will be done to set the research aim, objectives and the questions if which needs to be researched about. Not only the literature review the study will conduct the set of research questions that will be used in the whole research and the when research will be based on those key questions.
The objectives will be set in this stage the hypothesis will also be added. The chosen study design here is the descriptive method that will be providing the information about the key research area like the difference between the impacts of Covid-19 in different age group. The survey will be done making 100 people of different groups. The surveys will be conducted among the different group of people with different types of questions. The first step to conduct the survey will be setting the goal and targeted audience for the individuals. The estimated time limit to finish this plan is 3 days, after finishing this stage the survey will be done among the targeted audiences of different groups. The estimated time limit of the stage is 5 days and after finishing the survey the results will be documented and used for the fulfill the research questions. The collected data and information will be analyzed and included in the processes. Once the data are collected the main research report will be started.
Ethical considerations refer to the set of guide that handles all the projects and the research designs. It ensures that the information is used in the right way with illegal intention. It maintains the rights of research participants, enhances the validity and maintained the scientific integrity. The main goal of human research is to include the effective treatment of study and investigation of behaviors. The ethics in descriptive research is about studying the morality of people’s behavior. The research will be down by following the ethical sides that includes honesty about the research aims and data, procedures, methods that are used. The research will be focused on objectivity and bias will be avoided. Results will be focused on the gathered data. The aim of the research will be fixed and the whole research will be follow the aim. All the data will be used carefully avoiding the errors and negligence. The research will be done with own data and all the intellectual property rights will be respected and no copy or plagiarized work will be used in this research. While conducting this research it will be ensured that no harms or risk are occurring to anyone with this study.
